applying to college

Question Posted Tuesday August 10 2004, 8:12 pm

when you use the common application to apply for college, is it okay to print it out and mail it to the college instead of doing it electronically??

[ Answer this question ]

Additional info, added Wednesday August 11 2004, 1:40 am:
i mean the COMMON APPLICATION that is accepted by many colleges and has a website, not the applications you get from specific colleges.

They'd probably rather have it done electronically. I mean, that IS why it's on the internet. But I don't really know. Ask a college that accepts it + they'll probably have a better answer.

When i applied to college they perfered if you did electronically. They responded faster if you did it that way rather than hard copy.

If there is a college you are really interesting in going to, it is best to contact them and ask for their school's application. I understand there is a 'common application' which can be used for several schools, but it may not cover exactly the same issues that your school is concerned about.

It also looks like you are more interested in a particular college if you take the time to fill out their specific application rather than just sending out one standard application to each school.

As far as mailing in a hardcopy or emailing it, again, contact the college. Each admissions board will have their own preferences, and the fact that you contacted them and followed their advice shows that you are detail oriented and serious about their school.

Good luck.

It's definately OK. As long as you get it to the correct office and college then you shouldn't have any troubles. If you don't know where to send it by any chance, the college should have an office of admissions that you can send it to and that address should be on the site for the college.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "Common Application", but if you really have any questions you could call the college and simply ask. The people there should at least be responsive enough to answer any of your questions, and it shouldn't be too hard to find the number to the admissions office.

Yes its okay. They can't discriminate against those who do not have a computer to send it in electronically. Just make sure it goes to the proper address, and not just the college in general. It should go to the registrars office, but thats here in Canada and it will most likely be different for you.

Yes, it is. That is how I applied to the first college that I went to. If you are in high school, then you should be able to go to your guidance councelor and get a copy of the application. Also, if your able to go to the college, then they should have plenty of appications in the admissions office.

Why not just get the regular printed application and send that in?
