ok, next year i will be in 7th grade and i am gonna do athletics. im kinda short for my age and dont have much muscle or anything. im not overweight, but im not exactly "strong and athletic". im afraid that next year i will make the bad teams and be one of the worst atheletes there. im not a ver good runner and im afraid were gonna have to do alot of that! i just dont wanna look stupid in front of all my other friends who are tall and long-legged and will be able to run a mile in 5 minutes, wen im bak there truggin along. does any1 no an easy way 2 get in shape without havin 2 like do hours and hours of strenuous excersise?? plz answer! :)

In fact the fastest runner in my grade is 4 feet 10 inches. I don't know what type of athletics you are thinking of but to get in shape it really depends on what you want to improve. For your arms you could probably just get some 3-5 pound weights and lift those or do push ups against a wall or on the ground. You don't have to do hours and hours but a good 20 minutes everyday should be enough. For legs you can do the jump rope. If you dont make the team this year..try next year. Athletics are a great thing to do. You shouldnt be so hard on yourself. Just try the best you can. I cant tell you if you're going to make the team or not..but if you dont make it...still be proud of yourself for trying. gOOd luck

drifting_nimbus answered Friday July 30 2004, 11:18 pm: Ever heard of pilates? It's pretty hard when you first start, but after you get going it gets really easy. The work out is basically a mix between aerobics and yoga. Works the stomach, legs, lower back, pretty much everything in one work out. Plus it will help your endurance so you can play sports and run longer. You can get tapes for it at stores like Media Play and FYE, or pretty much any book store in your area. By the way, if your planning on starting sports my advice is to make sure you have the time, and remember to drink a lot of water (hehe). Also no matter how hard it gets stick with it, everything is hard to begin with, but it will get easier!

*ashlee* answered Friday July 30 2004, 11:08 pm: theres really no easy way to get into shape without workin pretty hard. but if u think ur gonna be doing a lot of running. then start running now. got jog around ur block a few times a day. start out slow tho otherwise ull just mess urself up and quit. but also dont worry about what ur friends think. if theyre ur true friends they wont care and if they do theyll only wanna help. so like i said just pick a time of day and jog around ur block a couple times..everyday (exept for like weekends cause u should rest too) and then after a week or so run ur block 4 times instead of just two. ull be in runnin shape in no time..i run/walk everyday cause i wanna stay in shape, and its not hard and strenuous its actually pretty relaxing..besides the heart rate. it gives u time to think n stuff. try it. jaimiejam715 answered Friday July 30 2004, 11:01 pm: u dun have 2 do hours n hours of strenuous exercise. even if u only do a couple of hours of light exercise a week. evry little bit counts. i would recommend doin a little joggin n some pushups. the more u do them the more ur body will get used 2 it n u will b able 2 do more n become stronger. maybe if u feel up 2 it a minute or 2 of crunches might b helpful. And you don't have to join a sport just to be the best person on the team or anything like that, you should just to have fun. No one will think you're stupid about it either!
