I am new to this site and it seems infested with young teenagers asking about bands who care more about their image than their music. Since when do trends like black hair and girls jeans take precedence on what muscians are there for in the first place? Everyone is following a cookie cutter sound and it seems no one cares about throwing something fresh into the music community and that the only way to get noticed is to follow the crowd.
I guess what I'm asking is, are the cookie cutter image based bands just marketed well and forced upon youth, or are kids not being exposed to the real music enough for them to get into it? (link)

Personally...as I young teen I have a lot to say on this. Yes there are many bands that are way too blown up in size...But I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are always going to be the ditsy girls that are in love with Baskstreet Boys or some other fake banc...but there are PLENTY of true music lovers. Although it's true that kids do buy into a lot of bands that in truth aren't that great...but you have to remember all the kids who are out there listening to the classics and loving them. Kids have plenty of resources to find real music and be exposed to the good stuff, some just chose to follow the crowd.
Unfortunately there is no way to escape the fakeness of a lot of it, but as long as your happy with your music it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

short back story, im in love with a friend. im 19m she is 18f

If I were you I would take this oppurtunity to tell her that you like her. Perhaps the other boy she has feelings for is you. You could say, "I want to give advice to you on what to do...but I'm afraid anything I say wouldn't help." and she would probably say why? and then you could say, "because I like you." just an idea...:)

TSS is Toxic Shock Syndrome...it's where germs start to live in the tampon and can infect you. It's actually EXTREMELY rare, but because a few people have gotten it they have to put warnings on boxes or else the tampon companies could be sued. It is good to change your tampon quite regularly...but if you leave it in for 6 hours you won't die. In fact in most cases you can wear them to bed and be fine.
I really wouldn't worry about TSS because it is so rare, pass on this info to your friend too. Hope I helped:)

i know this sounds childesh, but my mom gave me a puppy for my birthday and theres just one problem. she wants to have him fixed. and i dont want to have him fixed. it will hurt him and think it's his choice to reoproduce or not. but my mom says he'll be less aggresive and then she had the nerve to tell me it's her house and what she says go's. i dont want to have him fixed but my mom's being a total bitch. how do i convince my mom that it's unfair to fix a dog, and he's mine not hers. I know how you feel. But fixing a dog actually is healthier in the long run. I know you say that it is his choice to reproduce, but dogs don't really have the conscience to think, "Hmm, can I take care of 7 puppies? No, I think I will wait a year." So basically if you don't get him fixed he will try to reproduce...it's just in their nature. Hope I helped

I'll start with the things I HATE:
-guys who are cocky utterly piss me off
-guy who act differently around girls than they do their own friens
-guys who say they will call back, and never do
-guys who are perverted...it's like w/e be perverted on your own time just don't bring it up around me
Things that I like:
-guys who show respect for his parents, my parents, and my friends
-guys who are polite and say please and thank you
-guys can swear...but not constantly
-guys who put the girl first (like instead of saying I want to see this movie say "What movie do you want to see?" and see that movie no matter how much of a chick flick it is)
-guys with a sense of humor
-guys who remind their girlfriends how much they like them
-guys who look past a girls looks
For the looks...Great guys come in all different sizes, shapes, colors, styles and whatever. I wouldn't worry too much about your looks because as long as your personality rocks it makes you look just that hot.

I made out with my boyfriend last night and my older brother walked in on us (we were in my room with the door locked but my bro just has to stick a penny in the door too twist it.. if you know how those work yeah)... He came in and got really really pissed and started yelling at my bf (which made him leave), My brother had me in tears, he acted like he was my parents he was yelling at me and everything... I mean all we were doing was making out just sitting there not even laying down or anything. Im 14 and hes 17 but he was sooooooo mean and he told my parents so now im grounded for a frigin MONTH!!! I was so pissed at my brother and he said he didnt want me too turn into a slut (wth all we did was makeout) So this morning he was in the living room and he told me my bf called and my bro told him he wasnt allowed to call my house anymore... WHY IS he taking this so out of proportion.. I started crying again so i told him i hated him and that i wished he would die and burn in hell... :( That got me grounded for even longer but i didnt mean it :( Ive tried apologizing and he wont listen too me. Does anybody know how i could apologize too him and handle this whole situation all together because if not i could lose my BF.. because hes not allowed over here and my parents say i cant see him :(. Brothers...You can't live with them, yeah that's really all. I know what you mean, my brother is CONSTANTLY telling me stuff about how all my friends will probably turn into sluts and how everyone will start to do drugs. It is so annoying but I know he only does it because he loves me and doesn't want me to turn into a slut or a druggie. I know you probably wondering why they can't just understand and why they are freaking out over just making out...but look at it from his view... He walks in on you two making out with some guy (assuming your bro and bf don't know eachother). I know it sucks like heck that they won't just let you do whatever...but just remember that your bro only got so pissed because he really does care about you and really doesn't want you to turn into a slut. There isn't an easy way to apologize because what you said probably really hurt him, he was probably thinking, "i'm such a good brother because I'm looking out for my little sis" and then you told him you hate him...so just give it some time and tell him that you didn't mean it and you understand what he is trying to do. Hope it all works out...brothers can be SUCH a pain in the ass sometimes. (oh and remember, your brother is a whole lot more important than you bf...no matter what)

My boyfriend goes to a different school than I and we are still great. You'll have to make some sacrifices to see him, but with all good relationships there are sacrifices. Just keep in touch through the phone. Also, just because he goes to a different school doesn't mean you can only see him on weekends. Just plan on a day that you don't have much homework...or do your homework together:)

My sister got her cartilage pierced and she told me that it hurt like hell. She stopped wearing hers years ago and she was left with a gross scar. It could just be her body, but if it won't close up and look natural again (since I'm assuming you won't want a cartilage piercing when your an old person) I don't recommend cartilage piercings.

I think middle school is about the right age to start wearing mini skirts...as long as they aren't mini as in "barely covering my butt" mini. And yes, tall girls with long legs look fantastic in mini skirts (that might be bias because I am tall and have long legs:) )

So it seems no one cares that its right to wait untill marrage to have sex (in the chrsitian religon) and now to me it seems seroiusly wrong, but later on it probubaly wont. I don't think that 8th grade is that grade to lose your virginity. For most people I think that it is just a personal decision. I know people who have lost their virginity in 6th grade, and I know people who are in college and are still virgins. If you are against pre-marital sex, then stay true to what you believe. Also, does it matter if the guy you marry is a virgin or not? It only matters as long as you love him and he loves you. Hope I helped.

I've been in the same situation. My boyfriend was really shy, but I am only a little shy. I knew he would never make the first move so I gathered up all my courage and just pretended that I was comfortable with him...even though I wasn't. Try saying something like, "Wow, are you as uncomfortable as I am?" because then he will know that you are on the same playing field as him. Hope I helped.

Okay, well last night i had a dream that my crush asked me out ..so i invited him over except "my house" wasnt really MY house! It had a pool which i dont have and i had a different family. so anyway, the whole time we never hung out!
