Buddhism is less a religion and more an entire way of livivng. Unlike other religions, buddhists are not united. They have no set creed or dogma. They do not require you to believe anything you don't like. They are very tolerant of other beliefs and systems and religions.
Instead of a set of rules, they have something called Dharma (dar-muh), which is one's own set of rules to live by. Everyone's is different and you get to pick your own. There is also Karma, which, as we all know, is payback for bad deeds and rewards for good ones. And of course, they believe in reincarnation.
BewareOfCat2 answered Wednesday August 24 2005, 3:24 pm: The Buddhist bible? There is no such thing. There is the eithfold path...just go onto google and search Buddist Belief System and it should bring up everything you will need to know about Buddhism. I beleive the scriptures of Tripitaka is the longest set of rules, and it's been put in over 100 volumes. There are a couple more scripture sets...and some of them just explain the 8 fold path deeply. [ gUeSsHoO278's advice column | Ask gUeSsHoO278 A Question ]
