Actually its 8 hours but I also recomend changing it every 4 or 5 hours to stay clean. You can learn more about TSS on the instruction thingy in the tampon box too. K hun ? Thanks bye. BewareOfCat2 answered Monday September 19 2005, 1:46 am: TSS is Toxic Shock Syndrome...it's where germs start to live in the tampon and can infect you. It's actually EXTREMELY rare, but because a few people have gotten it they have to put warnings on boxes or else the tampon companies could be sued. It is good to change your tampon quite regularly...but if you leave it in for 6 hours you won't die. In fact in most cases you can wear them to bed and be fine.
AskAndy answered Sunday September 18 2005, 11:49 pm: There is a kind of bacteria that loves your period. If you wear a tampon for too long, that bacteria multiplies really badly and it infects you. If it touches your ovaries it can cause even worse damage, and TSS stands for Toxic Shock Syndrome. [ AskAndy's advice column | Ask AskAndy A Question ]
