Devyn answered Thursday July 29 2004, 8:07 pm: I am 14. I also want to be a writer. You should not type like "OmG I lyke want to lyke write, when i lyke grow ^." Because that is not geting you anywhere. You should practice, with spelling all of the time not just for school. Good Luck.

Ronlina answered Thursday July 29 2004, 12:52 am: If you really want to be a writer, get used to the idea of not being rich and famous. Ever hear of the term the "starving artist"? Yeah, well writing pretty much falls under this category for most who decide to use this as a career. If you're really passionate about it, try getting an advice column in your school newspaper or something. Write all the time, about everything. Try to get an English teacher to help you after school and see if you can improve any articles or stories you write.
And writers don't necessarily spell everything correctly, either. That's where spellcheck comes in for me - but it helps to be more conscious of what you are writing about enough to spell out whole words. That would be a good start to improve your writing in itself. [ Ronlina's advice column | Ask Ronlina A Question ]
soljette answered Wednesday July 28 2004, 10:38 pm: thats the same thing i asked myself. i want to be a writer as well.. well, sorta. but if thats what you want to do, then go for it. it doesnt matter how much it pays because if its writing that makes you happy, then nothing else matters. MainMan2230 answered Wednesday July 28 2004, 10:26 pm: ok ima tell you something it may or may not pretain to you... a very good percentage of people dont do the job they wanted to when they were 13. Take me for examble I must have said i wanted to be just about everything. when your young you usally see something or in your case read something and just instantly decide that thats what you wanna do... when in retrospect you really prob wont when your older. so what should you do you should continue through middle school like you have no idea what you want to do that way when/if you decide to do something else at least you havent focused all your schooling on that one subject. And if you are hell bent on being a writer i recommend you start reading ALOT. reading is provine to increase the voc. hope i could help. [ MainMan2230's advice column | Ask MainMan2230 A Question ]

Sparklezz0588 answered Wednesday July 28 2004, 10:17 pm: I think it is wonderful that you are so passionate about writing. You are young and its great that you know what you want to do. If I were you I would maybe see if you could do somekind of volunteer work at your local newspaper or enter some sort of writing contest. And as a suggestion, I recommed that you do a lot of reading (novels and such)....this is a really good way to increase your vocabulary thus improving your writing skills. If you have any other ?'s just visit my column....hope I helped (let me know) [ Sparklezz0588's advice column | Ask Sparklezz0588 A Question ]
