xo_Meg_ox answered Tuesday July 27 2004, 2:07 am: running on tred mills or tracks is better for you (by the way, i've had two knee surgeries and the doctor encourages me to run - but it has to be on tred mills or tracks) [ xo_Meg_ox's advice column | Ask xo_Meg_ox A Question ]
xOchErrytWistOx answered Saturday July 24 2004, 2:47 pm: What I do is (on the tredmill) is i walk for 1 minute or 2 minutes (depending on how tired i am) and then run for 1 minute and then just keep alternating! I read that in a magazine and its something Jessica Simpson did too loose weight. but that still includes running. running is bad for your knees, so maybe try walking. or pilates tapes. if u are a member at a gym, take a body step/body pump/spin/yoga class. or even try biking.

Hello180 answered Saturday July 24 2004, 10:14 am: I love running too, or at least I used to and then I kind of well, anyways this is about you, not me. Running is bad on your joints, I had problems with my hips myself, but running trails is a lot easier on the joints. I myself am thinking about picking up triathlons which allows you to give up a lot of your running training for biking and swimming and mixing it up is always fun. L0stiNaDreAm017 answered Saturday July 24 2004, 4:36 am: This advice is coming from a runner, I also LOVE running (cross country and track) and if you love running, run! Running is a great sport, don't give it up. It's only bad if you're wearing the wrong shoes, and too much running on concrete is bad, try to find a track somewhere in your area, tracks are much better because most are made of a hard rubber, or run in an open grassy area, through the woods or something. Just run! =) [ L0stiNaDreAm017's advice column | Ask L0stiNaDreAm017 A Question ]
h0ckey39 answered Saturday July 24 2004, 2:01 am: u cud also ride bikes. its much better on the knees cuz it puts less pressure on them plus it gives ya a good workout too! [ h0ckey39's advice column | Ask h0ckey39 A Question ]
xHeartxOfxGoldx answered Saturday July 24 2004, 1:02 am: I don't think Runnings bad for your knees but if it is and you like it alot.. the next best thing would be..Hurtles or Biking... but if you love running then continue it.. just limit how much running you do. Running is the best exercise it keeps you healthy.. but just cut down on it if you are worried..and make sure you stretch before each time you run.. or you could cause serious harm to your legs : and alternate your exercises... run one day and bike the next.. kind of like a switch off
-Hope I helped-

spacefem answered Saturday July 24 2004, 12:34 am: well, there's swimming and bike riding that are really low-impact, but nothing gives you as good a workout as running does. if you already have joint or knee problems, that's one thing, but if you're healthy now go run! Most runners don't experience any more injuries than any other athletes.
and look at it this way - if running is bad for your joints, you can pay to have them replaced when you're old. If you don't run and your heart weakens, you can't pay to have that replaced, you just die. I'd rather run. [ spacefem's advice column | Ask spacefem A Question ]
