Cutting. My names not important, but i've been cutting myself alot lately. It's really hard to stop. It just seem's liek its there for me when I'm down or depressed. I really need help but I don't want to tell my family. My familys falling apart already as it is and I don't want to add stress to anyone. It's just hard to stop. It just feels like something to bounce back on. Anybody have advice on what I could do to stop cutting myself.. maybe something else to do instead of that.. I dont know. Thanks alot. (F/14)

I know you feel like it would be really hard to get help for yourself right now, but I encourage you to at least try talking to a school counselor. If you're still a little nervous about it, try finding other ways to express your depression. Try starting a journal. You could write your feelings or make drawing of what you're feeling. Not only could these keep you from cutting, but hopefully once you go to see a counselor, it would help them see what you are dealing with. Please try to not hurt yourself anymore. I hope you find the strength to accept help for yourself. ]
omg hunnie you shouldnt do that thats a bad habit i know it takes away all of the pain and anger your feeling but thats not a good memory of your life...instead of doing that when i get VERy pissed of and i just feel like doing that i take a bunch of paper and rip it up into little tiny peices until nothing is there to rip ne more.....i think it takes away all of the anger you are feeling...please just stop doing that even if you dont like my way of taking the anger out of your system.. ]
sum ppl put rubberbands on their rist. instead of cutting themself they use the rubberbands and pull on em everytime they think of cutting. <3 xogiggles37xo. ]

Sweetheart, dont take lifes biggest pains out on yourself. Please, find a hobby, something your good at. Can you draw? thats a good way of expressing anger. You can make poems up, make a journal anything. Just whatever you do to get your pain out, dont hurt yourself. Life can be a tough pain in the ass and theres ways to get through with that. Do you have any friends? Tell them about it... get yourself out of depressed-mode. Theres nothing worse than that. But please hun just do not hurt yourself your only 14 and you've got so much living to do. ]
depressed, you may not believe me, but i know exactlly how you feel. i used to cut myself so much and i've got the scars to prove it, i've had a lot of problems in my life so i can relate. it's a good idea to talk to someone you might think that it will add stress to your family but they care about you and i'm sure that they would do anything they can to help you. this is what i did to help stop my cutting, i talked to my bestfriend and he told me something that i think might help you out, no matter what you might think or feel, someone loves and cares for you. you are not alone, another thing that i did to help myself stop is, i got a journal. now not everything i wrote was just thoughts some were poems, lists, or even doodles. just anything you're feeling or thinking you can write down, cutting is not your only option you can talk to someone or like i said get a journal and when you are feeling like you want to cut start writing and don't stop until you are feeling better. or hey another good thing to do would be do your most favorite activity like cooking, watching a movie, play a game, or come talk on the computer. and hey if you need someone to talk to, i'm here for you

okay..i kno this sounds kinda weird..but like find a rubber band and put it on your wrist..and when you feel the need in cutting your self..juss snap the rubber band..it helps trust me=) ]
okay well a lot of ppl i know have been doing this too.. you need to tell your parents and see a counselor and ask yourself what cutting is doing for you..? nothing it does not resolve a thing!

First off, I know how you feel. I used to cut not too long ago, also. It's dangerous though, and you should try to quit. If you feel that the urge is too strong and you won't be able to, then immediately tell your parents. it might put a little more stress on the family, but it's a lot LESS stress to them than them coming home one day to find you dead because you accidently cut too deep. get help girl. best of luck. ]
Dear Depressed,
I don't think that you should do any thing else to your body that might harm you. I bet that alot of girls like you, but if they find out what you're doing then it's all downhill. You could replace the cutting with a sport, exercise, or maybe even search for a girlfrind. Thanx much the question!

Hey. Well ive got a friend that cuts herself to and she says it makes the pain go away. But i see no point in it nuthin should make you want to hurt yourself no matter how bad it hurts inside you are to much of a good person to hurt yourself. try doin sumthin else what one of my best friends do is take a pillow and lay i on a bed or sumthin and just punch it till you get all your anger out but PLEASE for your own safty do not cut yourself or anything hurtful.. // * kaTiie <3 ]
Try crying, it may seem stupid but seriously it will stop you from doing stupid things, dont cut yourself it hurts and its not good ]
There are many things:
-Dig a knife into wood
-Hammer stuff (wood, preferably)
-Make something
-Draw
-Paint
-Take pictures (my favorite)
-Write
