I think im addicted to cutting.... and i like it but i want to stop.... how do i stop? (My parents know and im not talking to a damn physcologist)

then go to a physcologist.. or counciler! thats what i did. i also went on anti depressants (if depression is what makes u cut) depressants didn't help me but maybe they will work for u. also try to put away your knife and find other ways to cope with ur sadness that aren't harmfull to yourself etc. *big hugs!! and good luck!! *

I cut to an i know what its like to try quit you should really talk to someone about it My dad knows i cut to an he wants me to deal with it myself. Im half-way there I dont cut every day like i used to but if you need any more help tryna quit just email me - goffik_bunneh@hotmail.com

It doesnt solve anything to cut yourself. Dont take any of this offensivley though. Maybe just try to talk to some people and let them help you through it, and you'll get over it eventually. best wishes

hey kele i know how you feel. i cut myself too and i go to theropy for it. i think you should go see someone and talk to them because as much as i hate to say this.... they really can help you.

The only way you can stop is to just take the pain out on somehting else like take a piece of paper and write down what your feeling instead of cutting yourself

I for one haven't ever cut, but I know people who have. So what I would do, is put a rubberband around your wrist and whenever you feel like cutting, snap it. Maybe that'll help you stop, and try not to think of things all the time that would make you want to cut. Go out and have fun! Good luck hun!

think about why you did it in the first place...well my friend was really bad N they took every sharp thing out of her house...plz dont get that bad! and remember the damn phycscologist cant tell your parents anything thats the law unless its like drugs or somthing like that...maybe talk with one of ur friends about it N if u get the urge take somethink N cuz like a pillow or cardbored or somthing to take it out on...here are some places you can call to help you out.. and a site to go to!! Dear Kele,
cutting is not a good thing. I have seen 2 people cut. I know what it does. It's a pain or pleasure for people so they will not feel the pain and presure surrounding them. But inorder to quit it you have to TALK TO your parents tell them u dont want to hurt urself no more. and u have to go to some kind of therapy inorder to stop. but try this keep a rubberband around ur wrist and everytime you feel like cutting just pop the rubberband, not pop as break just pop on ur wrist. Having been in a similar situation, I would advise you to talk to a therapist. I've managed to stop even thinking about cutting whenever I get sad, and I do go to therapy.

If you can't or really, really, really don't want to find a therapist, then here are some things that worked for me:

•Put yourself if situations where hiding your cuts could get awkward. This makes it uncomfortable enough that you'll think twice before cutting.

•Whenever you want to cut, try really hard not to. Distract yourself by reading, playing on the computer, or going to sleep if you can.

•Read up on cutting on the internet. Google around and you should find lots of stuff on it. Looking at your problem from a different perspective could help you see your cutting differently.

You gotta go see a professional. or u can just stop instead of cutting yourself everyday do it only every other day, then go to once a week, then to once and month..etc its hard but pretty soon ull get used to not cutting. also when your angry dont get it out by cutting write in a journal. i hope these helped you..

Hey there, well, that's sort of not an option if you like it and want to stop, you could start by creating another habit that's simillar (my friend used to cut herself and she would use a rubber band and snap it *owie, but jus a lil* to get that slight pain satisfaction, I'm not a phycologist though, so I'm not sure, but u definitly hafta go c 1! <3 Alyssa

i saw on this one show that everytime you feel like cutting have a rubberband on your hand and snap it.. that way instead of cutting your doing something that still might cause u a little pain but won't hurt you as much

You've gotta just force yourself. Every time you want to cut, go draw instead or something. It is an addiction, I've had friends in your situation. You've gotta fight the urges. It's just like forcing yourself to go on a diet, or whatever. Good luck
