Growing up

Question Posted Sunday June 13 2004, 5:55 am

One of my mates since she turned 12 has been in too much of a rush to grow up. She won't go to see any PG or U films she said "Im to old for them and im 12 now i don't want to see baby films *SHE WOULDN'T GO AND SEE FINDING NEMO*" It is starting to get on everones nerves. We are all wanting to have a laugh but she takes things to seriously. We have tried talking to her but she won't listen. At christmas i asked her what she got and she said that she doesn't really care about the presents she is mainly trying to help her little brothers out. I know that your suppoesed to do that but this year she will be 13 and a teenager so why can't she just live a little cause this will be her last year as a kid. You only get 1 chance of a childhood why not take it while u can.
Can anyone give us some advise.

She. Won't. Even. See. Finding. Nemo.

THAT IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!

Okay, I better stay on topic and not turn this into a rant about FN...

Just tell her what you said in the question. That you only get one chance of childhood.

I have a friend like yours she is always trying to grow up. She is missing a lot of oppurtunities to have a little fun and be funny and act like a kid like she is until she turns 13. This is probably a stage for her in life. If she is acting all grown up all of you should do what you want I mean if she doesn't want to watch Finding Nemo that is her Problem, just let her act old maybe later she might find out that it is not fun. Don't hangout with her if she is acting like this all of you should still have fun and be kids.

Tell her what you told me. Simple as that and if that doesnt get to her then she is really letting her childhood slip right on by. I am 14 and i loved finding Nemo and all those kids movies there cute. If she takes a look around her i am sure there are still 17 yr old girls dragging there boyfriends to movies like that. Just point that out to her also. _trix_

Your friend is just going through a stage. Go ahead and do the things you still like to do, don't let her ruin your fun. Hopefully, she will come around and realize how silly she is acting. butnif you notice her doing things a little too grown or that can get her into trouble, then talk to someone. But like I said, its just a phase.

Sounds like she's trying to be preppy....

If you want to see PG or G movies, go without her with a bunch of your friends. She should get jealous and hopefully stop.
Good Luck - QBillion

Start doing things, such as seeing PG and G movies, without her. When she asks why you don't invite her, just tell her it's because she doesn't like doing that and you didn't want to waste her night. When you do the partying, invite her so she doesn't feel completely left out. She will miss hanging out with you all the time and start doing the kid stuff you have fun doing.
