ciara answered Thursday June 10 2004, 9:51 pm: you must tell them that you will split the bill or that you will pay for the cell phone, but you have to follow certain rules and not talk all the time!Just give them responsible reasons why you need a cell phone!!Like to call after school if any changes or something like that!! cr8zymonkeyluv07 answered Wednesday June 9 2004, 9:55 pm: Sometimes you have to prove your responsible enough, other times you just have to ask them, some times you even have to make deals with them. Any way you do it, you pretty much have to tell them you are going to pay for it (unless you are welthy). Hope you get your phone! BewareOfCat2 answered Wednesday June 9 2004, 8:46 pm: Like you I am also in a battle with my parents for a cell phone. My agreements to them are if the bill ever has extra charges on them I will pay, it gives me a sense of security, and it lets them know where I am. Everytime I see an oppurtunity of which I could have used a cell phone I tell my dad and I casualy say, "It woul dhave been nice if I had a cell phone" hope it works for you! Glamourgirl5089 answered Wednesday June 9 2004, 8:02 pm: ok first before even asking them if you can have one you should, do your chores without being asked, borrow something from them asking first (like there cell phone) and show them that you can be responsible by not loosing it, feed and water your pet or pets go out of your way to show them that you r responsible enough to have one! then politely ask if you can sit and have a talk with your parent or parents and just say i was wanting to know since i have done this this and this to show you that i can be responsible that maybe i could get a cell phone and come up with your own benifits like using it in a emergency...... and stuff like that then come up with your own punishments if you go over your minutes like strict punnishments not easy ones then they wont take you seriously and be sure to tell them to just hear you out before they make there final decision and also make it clear that you will respect there dicision! and thats what you do to try to prusede your parents to gettin you a cell! MotherJune answered Wednesday June 9 2004, 7:36 pm: If you have established the trust of your parents so far, then you have a basis for convincing them. If you are untruthful, secretive, or break curfew, then you are going to have a harder time. I don't know your age, but if you have a job or make money doing small jobs like babysitting, lawnmowing, etc., then offer to pay for part of it (or all of it) and then actually follow through. However, most cell phones have a minimum contract for 2 years and your parents may be hesitant. Do some window shopping and find an inexpensive phone. Some of the best deals are prepaid minutes that come with a phone for around $30.00 at most major discount places like Wal-Mart or Target. Then you can tell your parents not too worry about expensive monthly bills or charges for "overage" minutes. When and if you do get the cell phone, don't use it to deceive parents about where you are or jumping curfew.....they won't be easy to approach the next time you want to be given responsibility.
