Shaving Pubic Hair?

Question Posted Wednesday May 26 2004, 6:28 pm

Recently this guy said I have a lot of pubic hair. He said it was abnormal. I didn't think it was. He said it looked like a forest. Now I'm really embarrassed about this. He keeps making fun of me and these other guys were asking if I shave. I'm getting a new bathing suit for this field trip I'm going on and I'm going to get some wax so I can remove this embarrassing black hair from my stomach. I looked at the wax I am going to buy and noticed that you shouldn't remove hair from genital/vaginal areas.
Well I know I'm not going to use a razor sinse it can cause in-grown hairs and comes back thicker and makes skin irritated.
I can't use my depilatory creme at home because you shouldn't use it for pubic ahir.
I tried to look for some wax that removes pubic hair but I can't find any and the trip is coming up in 6 days.
Do I have to shave down there? I don't want to! This one girl said she got a mohawk. Okay? Will it look bad if I get a small swimsuit and don't remove the hair? I don't think I should listen to the guy. But if I use a razor wouldn't the hair poke out of the swimsuit? I'm still buying the regular wax for my stomach and bikini line.

I don't know what to do! If you now of any wax that can remove pubic hair please tell me. (I can't go to a salon to do it!) Thanks! 14 year old girl.

guys are assholes sometimes... ignore them! and i know alotta people say its bad to use razors or whatever.. but it doesnt bother me at all really. just be REALLY careful if youre going to use a razor! if u decide to use a razor after all.. soak in a tub first for a while. then use some shaving cream to soften up the hairs a little bit.. and proceed with CAUTION! be carefullllll, and never go over the same place twice. i read that its best to go "with the grain" first then "against the grain" for a smoother touch. and dont do it too often or you WILL get ingrown hairs... it also might be a lil easier if you trim it with scissors first!!

and i'm pretty curious now... if youre 14, how does that guy know? =/

but yeah, have fun on ur field trip and good luck with the whole um... pubic hairs thing!! lol

razors are bad for pubic hair . . . trust me, I know. :-)

like everyone else has said, use way or nair. In an emergency use scissors to keep in in control.

If you still are insecure about it, get some of those short-things you can wear over your bikini bottoms.

And pay no attention to the guy. He is an idiot.

Although there is no "right and wrong" for the presence of pubic hair, or the amount, it is considered social etiquette to at least trim that which extends beyond the bikini line. Of course, that's only here in the U.S., In France, it's quite UNcommon for women to remove or shave any body hair that they may have and it's quite normal.
There are several methods to help you rid yourself of unwanted hair. Instead of listing them all, seeing that you're short of time, I'll simply suggest a visit to this site:

I feel your pain. Which are many reasons why I didn't want to shave this year as well :-/ I kept 'hidden' until summer came...just wax off the parts that you think stands out.

I use Nair and/or the Veet spray.

Just wax your bikini line. Don't listen to those guys, guys are assholes. I'm a guy, and a lot of my friends are just cruel to girls, it's just their insecurity, ignore them.

You should use Nair, which is bikini wax. Don't wax all of the hair off though. Put on your bathing suit bottom, and just wax where the hair shows through.

a razor may leave razor burn or you can scratch yourself if you're not careful. if you really want to, though, then hand peel-able (is that a word? o.O) cold wax would work best. why are you with him anyway? my bf takes me for how i am... i'm kinda hairy every where xP but one question. you're fourteen. my age. why is a dude looking at your pubic hair, anyway????

A razor's the best bet, really...
It depends on your skin, though. Your underarms are probably as sensitive as "down there", so if shaving doesn't cause ingrown hairs or horrible prickles then you're OK. The hair won't poke out of the swimsuit, and it'll probably look worse if you don't remove it. Oh, and in general, the cold wax that you peel off with your hands (not strips) works very well...it won't rip your skin off.
Or, a bikini wax could do the trick...it may be embarassing for you, but it's your safest option.
