you have several options:
a) (the route I took) Get a band. Make sure it's the kind of music you can sing/like to sing and people you can live with.
b) get into music theater.
c) appear in local talent shows/showcases (I've done this, too. It works).
d) appear on American Idol.

d will not work. American Idol may seem solid but it's American. You will be scoffed. Doesn't matter who you are. c is the fun way. Unless you're afraid of crowds which will not do if you want to get anywhere in the music industry. b is pretty good. I haven't tried it. It's really one of those things you have to be into at an early age. a works for me, if just for fellowship alone. I love you, Band that yet has no solid name!

I just finished reading Simon Cowels book (from American Idol) called "I Don't Mean to be Rude But..." I thought it was a very intellegent book and had a lot of useful information for aspiring singers and how to become discoverd. I deffinetly recomend you read it!

You've got to get out there and weigh your options. Also, how old are you?

Get involved in musicals within your community, you probably have a theatre group that does plays and other things like that. Just get out there and be known for singing talent, the more people know about your awesome talent, the better chances of someone knowing someone or telling someone who could really hook you up with some big time contracts etc.

Check out this site. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

If its your dream then you should be trying every option. Make sure you take courses at school for music!

Well you could try contacting your local radio station and suggesting if they have a contest almost like american idol and if you could be a contestant. Or go to one of the singing contest shows webpage. EXAMPLE- American Idol, or there are a couple more. Just do alittle research. Wish you luck
