According to www.dictionary.com:
Showing or appealing to bizarre or deviant tastes, especially of a sexual or erotic nature. But of course as was already said - it is not necessarily just pertaining to sex. More often then not it is used in the context of sex though.

Also, that definition according to dictionary.com is considered 'slang' as the actual definition is for kinky or curly hair.

Kinky, meaning a turn on in a sexually manner than one enjoys. Like some people find it kinky when a girl wears a french maid outfit, or excessively talks dirty,

Most things 'kinky' reffer to interesting sexual activities or deviations from the norm, such as the Karma Sutra, or Sado-machocism [S&M]. S&M is most often reffered to as kinky as it usually involves role-playing, the binding of a patner, or the use of whips and chains.
'Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me.
So throw me down and tie me up and show me that you like me.'

it is anything out of the norm. NOT just in sexual content. It can be used to describe patterns in history or someone's behavior. Such as Caligula. He was a kinky guy.

"Kinky" is somewhat misused and the societal definition is a little blurry. "Kinky" technically means sex practices outside the realm of normal, vanilla (non-kinky), boring missionary-position sex, or basically, sexual practices that are not societally perceived as the norm, like bondage or sadomasochism.
It's also a really fun word to say. :D

Kinky is a sexual word. When used in a sexual context it means experimenting different ways to get sexual pleasure, whether it be out of the ordinary or not.
