Transporting a cello The musical director at my theatre company has asked everyone who plays an instrument to bring it with them to the next rehearsal. I travel to rehearsals on the bus so I'm not sure whether I should. The cello doesn't belong to me but to the County music service although the case is my own( it's a hard case at least). The cello is on my Household Insurance.
Do you think I should bring it or not? I have been specifically asked to bring it because there is a shortage of bass instruments.

Talk to the musical director. If he/she says you have to bring it, then ask a friend for a ride, or ask the director if he/she can take your cello.. I have the same problem sometimes with my bass. Really, it's huge! I don't own it, either. (A decent bass cost about 800 to 1000 dollars, and I don't have enough money that i can spare.) If nothing works, then skip the rehearsal and practice at home. I'm sure you know all of the music! (right?) ]
Dear Transporting a Cello,
I really think you should ask permission from the County Music Service first, and if that doesn't matter yes, I think you should bring it.
As long as it means that nothing bad will happen to it. It's it your hands and as long as you are guarding it, it's entirely up to you.
Sincerely,
Here To Help ]
i think that if you can get a ride from someone to definatly bring it other wise i would ask your bus driver if you could have the front two seats of the bus one for the cello one for you that way it will be easier to get off the bus. ]
bring it. ]
Bring it and be crazy careful. Try to keep it as out of the way as possible. Or talk to the music director ahead of time and try to work something out. Actually, go with the second option, its the best one. ]
Since you travel on a bus and you have a hard case, you could take it on the bus. If you don't want to take it on the bus, talk around to people that drive and see if someone would be willing to pick you up and take you along. ]
Course you should. Give other bus commuters a thrill with an impromptu concert on the way. ]
As long as the cello and you share a seat, you will probably do just fine. I see cellos travel on large trucks travel safely all the time.
You might ask the venue if they have a locker or other lockable place to store it if you should need to. Break a leg. ]
