When I was a small child, we used a cheesy tape recorder so that I could practice what my piano playing sounded like (well, I don't play anymore, but it was worth it). There are small inexpensive recorders out there with good quality if you want something cool. It is easier and easier to print your own CDs these days as well. Get on the net and do some research! PixieTwist answered Sunday October 26 2003, 6:52 pm: Assuming you are asking what guitar-related things you should ask for, I would advise..: music, music, music, and some more music. You can never have enough sheet music. If you could and would like to be better at guitar (if you arn't that good, can't read music, or just would like to improve), ask for gift certificates/money for lessons. Also, you could ask for a wah-wah pedel, a whackload of picks (gotta love em', and alwasy come in handy as you would say), more/really cool/awesome/slammin straps, a new and unique case, an electric tuning thingie, bigger and louder amps, even bigger amps, and a REALLY LOUD AMP. MFS answered Sunday October 26 2003, 6:29 pm: What sort of fx pad and amp? Perhaps you could use a better amp? A better guitar? Strings? A 2nd guitar? There are endless possibilities.
Better yet... if you are up to it... ask for a 4 or 8 track recorder, or recording software for you computer. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
