How can I lose weight? At this point in time, I am almost the most I have ever weighed. It's not fat or anything, but I think 140 pounds is too big for my height. My parents don't want me to go on a diet because they fear I'll become anorexic or obsessed. I run, so I know I'm getting enough physical exercise. What can I do?

I am not a weight loss expert but I can tell you what is working for me. Three weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers. I have been checking out their website for a couple of months and finally decided it was a plan I could live with.
It is very easy. I am allowed a certain amount of "points" every day and when I reach them I have to either stop eating or go for 0 point foods (vegetables are just one example)
I purchased their Eating Out guide and found that just about every fast food place and restaurant in my area was listed. So yes, I can eat at Taco Bell and still lose weight.
I know I am eating a well balanced diet, I get tons of good advice at the meeting and I have lost 15 lbs in three weeks. I am sure those results are typical and my weight loss will slow down. I started off with about 50 pounds to lose and when you are really heavy it seems like they weight comes off quicker at first.
I don't want to give a commercial for Weight Watchers but I would suggest checking out their website. The cost is 18.00 to register and 12.00 a week. (I spent much more than that on junk food before I started)

You have some muscle, right?
Remember, muscle weighs abour 3.5 times more than fat does. Do you think you look fat? It's all in how you look, NOT in what that scale says.
Example: Someoen the same height as you may weigh 130lbs, but look chunkier and more "fat" than you do at 140lbs, because their weight comes mostly from fat and not from muscle.

Don't go on a diet; diets are bad. Just try to exercise and eat healthy. Drink lots of water and try walking places instead of getting rides or driving(if you do drive) ]
Rather than worrying about keeping a healthy weight, keep your weight healthy. As your body grows, it will put weight where it needs to be, and no "Body Mass Index" will make it do otherwise. If you run regularly, then you've already got a huge head start.
You should try to avoid eating two or three huge meals a day, but also limit your snacking -- Ideally, plan three moderate meals a day and two light meals. Make sure your protein intake doesn't suffer, and keep up your healthy fat levels, by eating plenty of foods with polyunsaturated fat -- fish, olives and olive oil, leafy vegetables, and eggs. ]
I have this same problem, only I'm about 20 pounds over you and I have problems with endurance in exercising because I have feet and knee problems. Let me know when you find an answer. ]
You can watch what you eat without really "dieting". What are your parents going to do, force-feed you potato chips all day? That's just not healthy.
140 pounds isn't really big for anyone's height, so I don't think you have much to worry about, but it never hurts to just think about what you're eating. Don't eat because you're bored. Eat lots of fruits and vegitables. Watch your fats and empty carbs (empty carbs are things like white bread and bleached pasta that have about none nutritional value, but we fill up on anyway). Just eat healthy, and if you lose weight great, and if not don't worry so much about it. ]
