Psychologist

Question Posted Wednesday October 12 2005, 4:33 pm

I am in the 10th grade and I have been thinking about what I want to be when I leave college. I now have discovered that I might look into being a psychologist. Can anyone help me find like websites that will help me research more about this. Thank you

Well, that sounds like it would be a fun career, and here's what I think you should do. It might take a lot of work though, but if you're really interested in researching this, then do it. You should call up a local psychiatrist, and ask to do an intership. Some might refuse you, but others would probably let you sit in on the sessions as long as the patient says alright.

This would be a hands on way to research it.

Good luck!

i've thought about this too. i havent looked in to it that much but i'm guessing you're in usa, or some where like that? well i'm in Australia and over here there is something called ACAP, Australian College of Applied Psychology. thats where i'm going after school. maybe look that up on the net and then find something like that around where you live.
the good thing about ACAP is all you need to get into it is English. Anything else you need all sciences and advanced maths (well over here you do) so if you're doing those subjects, good luck!!!!

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any. I kinda looked into it, and have taken some psychology classes. They are amazing, you learn some interesting stuff, but there are a lot of them.

Click "colleges" to the left to get to careers.

The drawback is that you have to register, but it's free. It tells you what it's like in the career, what you do, other similar careers, majors, internship oppotunitues, etc.

I hope that helps!

I'm a junior and I'm considering taking psychology in college too, but I don't think I'll be making a career out of it, I already know what I'm doing, and that's not it.
Anyways, I think this site should help, I know it helped me.

I'm not sure if this will help you, but it's worth a try.
I understand what you are going through completely. I'm a Junior! I reeeally have to think about what I'm going to do.
And really, I decided on something I know I'll enjoy doing. Well, I've narrowed it down to two.
M.A (medical assistant) and Computer Tech.

Hope it helps dear. Good luck!!
God Bless.
Hailie
