Sorry, I'm not sure if this is in the right category. I don't have braces yet, but im getting them soon, three days after i get my braces i'm planning to go to a friends house for a sleepover, will i be able to eat solid foods 3 days after getting braces?? im 13/f and ive been waiting since i was 9 years old to get braces. my parents say there too expensive but the cheapest weve found so far was $4,220 and it doesnt get any cheaper then that. i am sooooooo self conscious about my teeth, they're crooked and NEED braces but our insurance doesnt cover it. my mom said we have to wait 2 more years, but i CANT. i just cant. i need them and i can't wait, and the older i get the more fcked my teeth are gonna get which needs more care which equals more $$. what should me and my family do? Well, I am getting braces next week..Ugh, I am so not excited but oh well, I am going to have to suck it up and just get it over with..But my question is I want to get colored ones so if any of yall have ever had braces, can you tell me what color do you think is the best...I have heard yellow makes your teeth look stained and clear isn't good either. I am thinking about hott pink. But I don't know...I have brown hair and blue/green eyes if that makes a difference haha. So, any suggestions would be wonderful. Haha. Thanks in advance. (link)

i have braces and had them for about 2 years now top and bottem.
i want my top teeth stright and alighned (all is going well) exept i have a small gap in between my front teeth that wassnt there before (at least i dont think it was) ive noticed it for like 2 months now mabie...
and i think its cute and unigue and i like it its not big its just really small. and i want it there, i always admired models with a small gap in thier teeth. =] and i want mine to stay that way i always felt a model doesnt need perfection and i too want to be a model and will want it there.
and i dont want the braces to fix it eather.
even if i dont become a model.
is there anyway to tell my orthadontest that i want to keep the small gap?
is there anyway i can keep my braces to help alighn my other teeth and keep the small gap between my fron teeth
some people might think its wierd but it looks cute on me and i like it.

so i got my braces off 2 weeks ago and got my retainers today.. ortho said to wear them for 24 hours a day but if i just wear them like 18 hrs/ a day would it be really bad... especially since they didnt move at all during the first two weeks after i got my braces off and had no retainers (my ortho said they hadn't oved a bit because my retainers fit perfectly not even a little tight) (link)

Alright so when I was thirteen years old I had braces for about a year and a half and got them taken off. It is now bugging me that my teeth aren't straight straight, they're straight, but it doesn't even look like I had braces, because when people have braces they're teeth are uber straight. Is there anyway where my teeth can be a bit straighter then they are right now without having braces? PS I put in my retainer everynight, but it's not helping. I also remembered seeing an ad for invisible retainers to make your teeth straighter. How is that? I'm looking for something that isn't very expensive because my family is on a budget right now.

I'm going to get braces pretty soon and I'm not so excited, I just feel really sad, and mad, miserable for some reason (I have other stuff going on with my life). The reason why, is because I think I have to get both TOP and bottom D:, but my top teeth are pretty much fine. I wouldn't mind the bottom though. + I have to have them for a year and a half! That's a long time to me! That's basically my whole school life+..... and they're ugly, no offense to anyone who has them, but I think they'll look ugly on me :(, you have to take GOOD care of them, more than you do for your regular teeth, considering you'll have to have a good flossing technique etc. I have to miss some school for my appointment, it'll take a long time maybe 2 hours+, it'll hurt (maybe) :|, and I can't eat certain foods! My mom says no more candy :( but I'm not gonna listen to her hehe >:] So I was wondering, can anyone tell me true facts about braces, like if I can't eat candy anymore, or if it hurts, etc, and if you could tell me how I can get over this or tell me stories so I can feel better about my situation. :| (link)

I have braces. I got them during feb? And I had my last appointment at the ortho around the beginning of august. And now last sat, I bit into a pretzel (not too hard and not too soft but it caused my tooth to hurt) and then two days after, my tooth (my front teeth) started to hurt. Like I don't know, I think it is the pain you get when the ortho tightens the wires or something? I think it is just that my teeth are shifting because of the braces and the feeling is just the pain from tightening but I don't know because only one specific tooth hurts, what is wrong? Do you think it is anything bad? Will my teeth fall out or something? (link)

So I'm 15 and my teeth are really messed up. People always make big fun of my teeth. They always tell me I really need braces. But I really can't get braces or I don't know how. I've tried getting them before and its useless. I just want them so I can smile and not have people staring at my jacked up teeth. When I was little I didn't pull my teeth and they started growing on top of the baby teeth. Now they're stuck like that. It's really sad. I cry every time someone tells me that I need to get my teeth fixed. What should I do? Do you have any advice? (link)

okay, im 15/f and im pretty, I always had a boyfriend, and guys would call me hot and all. But my teeth are kinda messed up. My bottom are PERFECT!. But my top are messed up. Okay.. my front two teeth are a little tilted in. Then those "fang" teeth are weird too. My one is okay, its not bad i could live with it, but my main problem is my other fang tooth. I still have 3 baby teeth left and that fang tooth is growing on top of my baby. So its pushed out, like sticking out.
Now im a cheerleader, And i hate to smile bc of my teeth. People at my school are use to it i guess, and never say anything about it. But its when im with other people. How can i be more confident with my teeth like they are? And be more happy during cheerleading. We're going to an away camp friday and i dont want people to think im mean bc i dont smile.
((braces are not untill my baby teeth fall out, so i dont know when i can get them)) (link)

I just got retainers (the ones that form to the roof of your mouth with a metal bar in front) to keep my teeth in place after my braces have come off. I was just wondering...can I make out with them in? Or will they fall out/get in the way? (link)

okay so i'm getting ceramic braces in like 3 weeks..and my mom was telling me theres a chance i will have to wear the headgear/neckgear thing...will i?? i know some people get to choose if they want to wear it at day or night..

i havent had my braces for too long compared to how long all my friends had theirs. i just got mine in january so its only been about 9 months. i have been wearing rubberbands for like 3 months now (i just started to double up with them this month though) and i thought that rubber bands were put on when u got closer to the end of your braces life. is this right or do the rubber bands go on at all different times during the process? am i getting my braces off soon? i am a junior so i kinda want to get them off like...now. When getting braces do they hurt when they are putting them on or does it only hurt after they are done putting them on? Also would they pull any teeth or would they be able to fix anything teeth that is out of place depending on how far back it is? (link)

The hook on my braces on the left side of my mouth keeps snagging on the side of my mouth. Like whenever I yawn or chew, it hooks on the side of my cheek. Now there's like a sore there. I tried the wax my orthodontist gave me, but it doesn't work for it. I also tried putting little wads of tissue between the hook and mouth, which worked, but whenever I eat, I end up swallowing the tissue wad, and it also bulges, making a little bump where it is. Any advice on how to make it stop snagging? (link)

i had braces before at the end of 4th to end of 5th. Since I had them that early, when the rest of my teeth grew in my bite was screwed up. So I just got them aug. 06. The thing is basicly everyone is getting theirs off and its bugging me. I look at pics. from past yrs and I like what I see, a mouth with no metal! Im going to have them on until the beginning of junior yr!
also, i have been always been really skinny and i eat whatever, well lately i notice that my stomach isnt as flat, my mom says its still flat, but i dont think so. So im eating healthier and cutting back and excersising, which is good in some ways.
Also, i feel sad/lonely all the time. I really truely dont have friends, well ones I hang out with besides like the hallway, even them Im somewhat of a loner. And some of the ones I call friends treat me like dirt, but it hard making new friends cuz theres always a few people in the group that really dont like you.
Sometimes my mom asks me if its ok and I tell her yes, because-i dont know-i just cant tell her the truth. It hurts too much.
So basicly-how do I become comfortable with myself? (link)
