dont know where this should go..

Question Posted Monday July 16 2007, 1:17 pm

okay, im 15/f and im pretty, I always had a boyfriend, and guys would call me hot and all. But my teeth are kinda messed up. My bottom are PERFECT!. But my top are messed up. Okay.. my front two teeth are a little tilted in. Then those "fang" teeth are weird too. My one is okay, its not bad i could live with it, but my main problem is my other fang tooth. I still have 3 baby teeth left and that fang tooth is growing on top of my baby. So its pushed out, like sticking out.
Now im a cheerleader, And i hate to smile bc of my teeth. People at my school are use to it i guess, and never say anything about it. But its when im with other people. How can i be more confident with my teeth like they are? And be more happy during cheerleading. We're going to an away camp friday and i dont want people to think im mean bc i dont smile.

((braces are not untill my baby teeth fall out, so i dont know when i can get them))

have you gone to the orthodontist/dentist in a while? you should ask a lot of questions about what to use for them also. yeah a retainer would work. but if i were you and you had to wait for braces, retainer, ect.. and since your in cheerleading maybe you could smile without showing your teeth? im shy about it to, except my lower teeth are all twisted in and i can't get braces yet either. haha. but you should be confident anyway. if your pretty and people like you and guys think your pretty then i wouldn't worry to much if i were you. and if anyone gives you a bad time about it, there are a lot of people on the planet with way worse teeth then imaginable and you should just roll your eyes at them and walk off. hope something helped :]

for them both down there, retainers do fix your teeth actually. i have one. and i've never had braces. my dentist told me that i got a retainer and not braces because my teeth aren't that bad so i don't need braces. So yeah, retainers are kinda like removable braces.

The only thing you can do is wait til the baby teeth come out and then get braces. if your teeth are growing on top of each other, a retainer won't work.

To sortof correct the person below me, retainers ARENT like temporary braces. Braces are braces. When you get your braces off, and the dentist wants to make sure that your teeth don't get bad again, THATS when/why you get a retainer. They wont fix your teeth- they merely keep them from getting worse.

Try wiggling your baby teeth that are still left. I know what you mean about your permanent tooth growing in when your baby tooth isn't gone-- I had one of those. Well, I still have it, but I got my three last baby teeth pulled, so all that's there is the permanent and a sort of hole.

Work on those baby teeth, and then get braces. That's all you can do.

If people already like you, even with your teeth how they are, then you don't have to worry about it. Everyone has flaws- remember that. There's something about everyone that they don't like, yours just happens to be in your smile.

It makes you even more of an individual. :]

First of all, if people like you, what should it matter what your teeth look like? Second, if you really want straight teeth, then an orthodontist could get you a retainer, which is like temporary braces. So what I suggest is that you'll smile and people will like you for who you are, not for your teeth.
