Okay so, I don't understand the whole way college works.

Your major is like..your main subject right?

But could you like do Graphic Design as your major and then do Photography too .. example?

Yeah, explain it all to me :P

Depending on which college you go to, you could potentially study any course you could think of. You could study Refridgeration as your major (no, really) and then do Gardening as a minor. (As a really strange example :P) But yes, your major is your main subject, it's what you do for most of your time and what you will learn the most about. If you think it might be boring for you to do one subject all the time, consider doing a minor with it, however, even if you just do a major, you will have so many different subjects and areas to cover that it's unlikely you'll get bored if it's what you're interested in. A positive reason to have a major and a minor is that if they're related, like English and Journalism for example, you'll have a lot more opportunities open to you. However, you won't be as specialised as someone who majored in English. It really comes down to what you're interested in and what you think you'll do with a college degree. I'm doing a single major rather than a combined one, and I'm completely happy with it and wouldn't change it for the world. I hope this has helped. :D

my older sister is 15 and i am 13, and i can't stand her! like she just bugs the hell out of me. she tries to be like her "own person", she is obsessed with animals, mostly horses, and reading. but i am the exact opposite, i hate reading and i like partying, boys, music, and tennis. she is trying to act like me though. i mean she likes country music, and i like rap hip hop and r& b. now she is starting to like maroon 5 and stuff that i like it is pissing me off and its just cause she is trying to be cool because she knows she is really annoying. and my mom is making me spend the day with her at the pool tomorrow, which i really don't want to do because there are only 2 days until i go to camp and i would rather spend my time with my friends! how do i get out of it?!?! please help me!

When I was 15 and my brother was 13 I used to hate him, I used to think he was lame and I would never like him and he would never stop annoying me.
Wait until you're a little bit older. Especially with girls, when they get older instead of being just sisters they often find that they are like best friends, because they have shared memories and experiences that they can never have with anyone else. It is difficult to see it right now but just try to get along with her and ride through the next few years, I promise you that in a few years time you'll be laughing at how much you two used to fight and be amazed how close you become. The reason your mom makes you spend time with her is because parents hate to see their kids fight and try to make them get along. So why not just try to encourage some family time for all of you, and be nice to your sister even though it might annoy you to do so, because not only will you feel nicer if you treat your sister with a bit of kindness, but it'll make your mom much happier as well. And remember, nobody is perfect. You probably do lots of things to annoy your sister as well. Don't forget that she has thoughts and feelings too, and they're not all stupid ones. :P Good luck!

My best friends in the world, Kayla & Bridget are always good to me. But lately, Bridget hasen't been. She hangs out with a lot of other girls who are mean, and doesn't act like her old self. I have no idea what's going on, and Kayla is away to New York for the WHOLE summer and i miss much [i live in virginia]

I rate high!!!!

As much as you might not realise it, you're still very young, and friendships change like crazy between now and the end of your teens. You might be very worried about your friendships right now, but even if they break apart and these two girls, Kayla and Bridget, end up being people you don't see anymore, you will make new and better friends. I think it's always great to go out a lot and be as open to new friendships as possible, and try not to isolate yourself to having only a couple of friends, because if things go wrong you can end up alone and very unhappy. However, I promise you that over the next few years you will make tons more friends who will be much more important and close to you, and you'll realise that friendships at 13 are only temporary and constantly breaking up for everybody. Try ringing Kayla every now and again just for a chat, and tell her how you feel about Bridget. She might feel exactly the same and just be keeping quiet, and it might help the two of you get closer. I hope things work out for you. :)

Im am an 18 year old female and my girlfriend is 19 and going off to college an hr away. She will also be participating in basketball too. She thinks it will be the same but I know it wont be. For the first couple weeks it will but when basketball starts it will take up more than enough time and she will be to bizzy to even call and I understand I just wish she would see my side. Plus her first year of college she had a problem with committment so I dont really know how to act now. when she was 15 min away she almost couldnt be faithful but now that an hr away what will happen? Can it work or will my heart be broken?

To be honest it isn't likely that this relationship will work for much longer now that she's moving away, especially if you think you might not be able to trust her because she was almost unfaithful before. Try and keep really busy and go out a lot, try and meet new people and make new friends. You might meet someone at home you want to have a relationship with, or you might gradually get over your girlfriend. If this happens make sure she understands you're broken up, because you never know, she might be writing on another advice website saying she's worried her boyfriend will cheat on her while she's away at college! Have you thought about sitting down with her and having a long talk about what you both want? It will be much easier if you sort out both your feelings now and be totally honest with each other, instead of worrying all the time she's away, and not knowing how she feels about the situation. I wish you good luck and hope it works out okay :)

ok i met this guy on the internet im 13 he is 17 and i like him and i think maybe he likes me too much. we made plans to meet in the future but i was just havin fun i was kidding about it. i didnt kno he really wanted to do it and now im scared something might happend can someone help?

As much as you don't want to hear this, you should talk to your parents or guardians about this before you commit to anything with this person. You should also, before you meet ANYONE from the internet, get his phone number (even a mobile number), and call him from a PAYPHONE or mobile so that he can't have your home number. Then you need to call him. If you do not feel comfortable with the phone call or suspect he is not really who he has been saying he is, then cut off all contact and don't speak to him again. However, if you feel comfortable you should start talking to him on the phone on a regular basis until you fully trust him. Then you can think about meeting him in person, but if you do you should always meet in a place that neither of you know very well (don't invite him to your home and do NOT go to his) and it's best to take someone like a friend or relative with you for safety. Often people meet over the internet and make great friendships out of it, so I hope it works out for you too. But please be careful because it's so easy to take precautions and it could potentially save your life. Good luck! :)

I just found my husband's biological father for him a few months ago. They've talked on the phone a few times since then, but he lives in Canada, so it's expensive to talk. We don't really have any money to go visit him either, and we won't for a long time.

I've heard of organizations that help families meet each other after being apart for a long time. Something like they might help pay to fly my husband to see his father. Does anyone know about anything like this? Any information would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks!

I know that this isn't hugely useful regarding meeting him, but have you ever heard of a program called Skype? This enables people to speak to each other over the internet both using audio and visual, it's better than a phone and has been proven to be much, MUCH cheaper. It's becoming very popular, and the program itself is free to download. It can be used if both parties have the program or if only one person does (i.e. yourself.) I haven't used it but I've heard lots of good things about it, you could maybe give it a try for the time being? If it doesn't work out, sorry about the bad advice. :P

I have a severe allergic reaction to using this product to treat acne. My face swelled, it itches, it's hot and burns and my skin is severely dry. What can I purchase over the counter to get rid of this reaction, without consulting a doctor?

I'm just wondering, what is wrong with consulting a doctor on this? This isn't a very embarrassing personal problem like perhaps an STD or something would be, and you know that a doctor will be able to help you immediately, whereas talking to someone who isn't medically qualified could suggest something which might make it even worse. I know it sounds like you don't want to see a doctor but it would save you a lot of guesswork and time, and also if the doctor thought your problem was bad enough you might even get a free prescription for something. :)

my boyfriends sister is tryin to kill herself bc her used to be boyfriend cheated on her and used her for sex and in the end she found otu he is engaged to one of her friends and she has been wit him 4 about 5 months and noe since it is over she has been puttin neddles in herself and takin pills i have tryed talkin to her and told her to stop and that she is hurtin all the people around her but she still wont stop she says it is makin her happy. someone please help me stop her.. i dont know what to do anymore. i ran out of advice to give her so i need ur guys help.

She needs help and I would advise trying to convince her to get counselling or speaking to a doctor as soon as possible. As someone who has experience with depression, it is very important that she gets professional help now, because it will get worse. You have probably tried really hard to help her and feel like she's not listening, right? But don't take it personally because when people have depression there is a chemical imbalance in the brain which means they are incapable of seeing things the way you might see them. So please, try and get her to see someone like a counsellor. I hope things get better for her and for you. :)

i live around chicago IL, and were having a drought, so its really hot around here. it gets really humid - and my hair is naturally wavy. if i scrunch it and wear it curly, it gets frizzy, and if i straighten it and wear it straight, it doesnt stay striaght, it puffs up etc. i have to go to summer school every day from 8-12, and i have very thick and quite long hair, what are some easy hair styles that i could do quick in the morning that doent look sloppy?

Do they make "frizz ease" in the USA? I'm british so I wouldn't know. Anyways, if they do, I would advise investing in this. Not only does it stop frizz really well but it stops your hair going all hard and staying with a 'wet look' like most mousses do to hair. Your hair looks soft and naturally sleek. I would recommend it, the only problem is that it's expensive. I hope you find something that works :)

Go to www.limewire.com and download the application, you'll be amazed at how simple it is to find music, games, movies and pictures for free with this great little program. Plus you don't have to worry about searching through hundreds of websites: Limewire literally has everything you could ever want.

my boyfriend and i currently broke up we were going out for about 3/4 months we broke up and he said he didn't want a gf. A few weeks l8er i guess he changed his mind he said he really liked this other gurl and that he didn't think that me and him would go out 4 a while. What can i do 2 get back at him? i already have a boyfriend but is there anything i can do? Like 2 get him 2 like me again? P.S. hes never online and he wont answer my e-mails! plez help

This sounds crazy but the most effective way to make someone want you is to pretend they don't exist. Do not email him, ring him, SMS him, MSN him or try to be in the same place as him so that you can chat. If you happen to be somewhere that he is, talk to and flirt with OTHER boys (but subtly, DO NOT BE OBVIOUS) and you might notice that suddenly he starts paying you a lot of attention. The thing you have to remember is, boys like to do the chase themselves. If a girl is really obvious and clingy, they get bored and find someone else. You might not believe this, but try it. You'll be amazed how quickly he comes running when he thinks you don't want him any more. Good luck! :)

I'm like a hugeeee tomboy. Like I wear long shorts and football jerseys. Im 14 and going into highschool, never had a boyfriend. Will i ever get a boyfriend. I mean, i dont wear makeup, and im big bulky and muscular. I want a bf, but i think maybe they are intimidated by me. Changing the way i am is NOT an option, i like who i am. PLEASE HELP.

As hard as it is to believe, 14 is way, way, WAY too young to worry about not having had a boyfriend. I can understand that you want a boyfriend, and I am telling you now that you will definitely have one in the future, but you shouldn't be worried about it at your age. Please try to enjoy being a teenager and just having fun with your friends, because trust me, by the time you're in your 20's boys will be on your mind so much that you'll wish you'd never even thought about them while you were younger! Good luck with everything and it is fantastic you like the way you are, not many people are fortunate enough to have such self assurance. Best of luck to you on finding someone, but don't fret about it, because you definitely will. :D
