fall_to_pieces answered Sunday July 10 2005, 1:20 am: graphic design can be your major (main subject on which your classes are about)
and then photography can be your minor which only some of your classes will be about.
you can have more than one major or minor, though. [ fall_to_pieces's advice column | Ask fall_to_pieces A Question ]

bandgeeksunite answered Saturday July 9 2005, 3:00 pm: A major is the topic that ALL your colledge classes revolve around. So you could major in Graphoc Design and minor in Photography. A minor is something that all of you side classes revolve around. [ bandgeeksunite's advice column | Ask bandgeeksunite A Question ]
fairfax answered Saturday July 9 2005, 11:44 am: Depending on which college you go to, you could potentially study any course you could think of. You could study Refridgeration as your major (no, really) and then do Gardening as a minor. (As a really strange example :P) But yes, your major is your main subject, it's what you do for most of your time and what you will learn the most about. If you think it might be boring for you to do one subject all the time, consider doing a minor with it, however, even if you just do a major, you will have so many different subjects and areas to cover that it's unlikely you'll get bored if it's what you're interested in. A positive reason to have a major and a minor is that if they're related, like English and Journalism for example, you'll have a lot more opportunities open to you. However, you won't be as specialised as someone who majored in English. It really comes down to what you're interested in and what you think you'll do with a college degree. I'm doing a single major rather than a combined one, and I'm completely happy with it and wouldn't change it for the world. I hope this has helped. :D [ fairfax's advice column | Ask fairfax A Question ]
