I am 15 years old. I enjoy writing, whether it be essays for class, reports, or just stories. Writing is probably the thing that I do best in school. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good college for writing, a college with a well known or successful creative writing class. If anyone can help, the advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks. I've heard that Indiana State is a good school for writing. I'm planning on being a English major. Keene State is good too (but I'm biased).
www.collegeboard.com and www.xap.com are sites that can really help. They helped me.
Good luck! It's very cool that you're already thinking about college.

can you get high off accutane? i don't know much about it, but im scared about my friend.
thanks (link)

I've never heard of anyone getting high off accutane. It can cause some people who use it to become depressed though. If your friend is using Accutane improperly, someone should know. According to the FDA, Accutane can cause some serious issues.
Here's a website if you want to read up on it:

MY friend ask me to have a sleepover with her this Friday. But my other friend is getting her tonsules out on friday and wants me to go over to her house on friday what do i do? (link)
|
You and your friend can have a sleepover whenever. It would be nice to be with the friend that is getting her tonsules out because it can be kind of scary (and having you tonsules out can be a major pain, or so I've noticed). It's nice to have a friend around at times like that. The friend who wants you to sleepover will understand.
Have fun, whatever you decide to do!

I think I am in love with this guy. However a little while ago he told me he just wanted to be mates with me because he was in love with this other girl. Now he's over her and he's still being a little flirty with me. The big problem is another girl is moving in on my man. I know he says he just wants to be friends but I think that may have changed hopefully. I really need to act fast though if I want to keep him. Should I start flirting with him and trying to get him to ask me out again? Do you think I may have a chance with him??
Thanx, soz it's long xx (link)
|
If you want to know if you have a chance just tell him straight out how you feel about him. If he tells you that he really does want to be friends, give up and find a guy that's as interested in you as you are in him.
Good luck!

Im looking for a coushy job. I want something pretty consistant and that doesnt require a whole lot hard labor. I want something simple.. Im not in dire need of money at the moment. I would just like something simple. Any ideas? (link)

You could be a host(ess) at a restaurant. It's not hard and you don't do all that much. Being a cashier at a store, like Hallmark for example, isn't too bad either.
Good luck on your job hunt!

Is a teacher allowed to bring down your grade because you forgot a book or a packet that you need for that class? (link)
|
If the teacher said that bringing in the book or packet that you need will count for points the teacher could bring down your grade.

I'm 13 years old, 4 11and a half and weight about 120lbs.. i know i weigh too much and i've decided i want to louse atleast 15 pounds. I bought slim fast the other day and i was wondering if it really works and how fast and idk, anything about it really. Plus, any other tips to help me lous weight would b great. thanx (link)
|
Slim fast is okay. To really lose weight and keep it off there are a few things you should do.
Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day three times a week.Walking briskly is a good idea.
You also need to eat right. Breakfast is really the most important meal of the day because it gets your metabolism going.
If you get hungry a lot or tend to eat large meals drink water. Water is good at making you feel a little bit fuller so you'll eat a little bit less.
Just remember that healthy weightloss should be gradual. Don't lose too much too quickly.
Good luck!
P.S. The important thing is to be healthy not to be skinny. So be careful and you'll do wonderfully.

You really need to go see your local police. This guy is harassing you and abusing you. An idea would be to get a restraining order. But you need to go to the police because you can never be sure how dangerous this guy may become. Situations like yours tend to become worse if the woman doesn't take action. Please go talk to the police and report your ex-boyfriend.

Every time I'm at a wedding or see a wedding on t.v., it's always a religous wedding.
So my question is, what happens at a no religous wedding?
Thanks. (link)
|
A non-religious weddings, usually called a secular wedding, is like other weddings. You can basically make the wedding your own. You can say vows, without bringing any religion into them (vows that are more personal), exchange rings if you want...ect. Some people who chose a secular wedding are spiritual rather then religious, atheist, or agnostic and homosexuals, wherever same-sex marriage is allowed.

I'm really confused, and surprised. I talked to my friend today, and we were talking about how I'm interested in Witchcraft, and then she said "Are you telling me you're a witch?"and I got kinda uncomfortable and Was like,"not really"cause I'm interested in it but I'm not one..yet. And then I asked what she thinks a witch is, and she rattled off all the storytale things, and I was really surprised. I'm trying to explain to her what modern "white"witches are, but I'm doing the best I can, but I dont know if thats good enough, I cnt eactly tell her to go look it up online. (link)
|
People's opinions are hard to change. No matter what you tell her she still might not understand. All you really can do is tell her how you feel and explain to her what Wiccans today are like. And hey, you could always just show her some information you found that got you interested in the first place.
Good luck with your friend and with deciding about Witchcraft.

Ok, this summer my best friend and I had a fight and it ended out friendship. (it was a bitter ending, we havent spoken to eachother since) Anyways, everyday at school, she doesnt talk to me and her friend told me that she hated me. The thing is, I dont hate her back, and I wish she wouldnt hate me. I want her to know that I still care about her even though we aren't friends, and I want to see how she is doing. So I found her livejournal link and do you think i should leave a comment? What should I say? (link)
|
I think you should leave a comment, if only to see how your friend stands. If she truly does hate you then so be it, but if she doesn't then maybe your friendship could be repaired.
Since I don't know why the two of you fought or how you truly feel about her (other then the fact that you don't hate her) I can only say that you could just tell her how you feel. If you're sorry, say so. If you just want to make amends, do that.
I guess something basic that you could say is, "I'm sorry that over friendship had to end the way it did. Eventhough we're not friends, I don't want to be your enemy." Or whatever.
Best of luck.

Okay, this is weird for me - I don't usually ask questions about internet stuff, but I'm looooost.
I wrote a short story on fanfiction, and I went looking for it when I just updated it, and it wasn't in the catagory. Like, at all. It exists, because I wrote it, and I have 8 reviews...but it's not there when I go to look in the catagory.
It's in the Books catagory, Phantom of the Opera, and it's called The Phantom's Aria. It's not rated R, so it wouldn't disappear because of that or anything...
Help? ^^ (link)
|
I'm guessing you mean fanfiction.net??? Stories sometimes take a while to show up on the site. Wait a bit and it should be up. If not, just I'm sure there's an email on the site where you can ask someone about your story.

Hi, I'm 14/f living in California if that helps.
Anyway, my parents are getting a divorce and it's been very difficult- my dad is a chronic liar (diagnosed by 3 doctors but refuses treatment). While married to my mom he had a girlfriend for 3 years. She got pregnant and had a baby boy and he mostly lived with his girlfriend and the baby for 1 year, then my mom finally decided to divorce him. The current arrangement we have is that my 12-year-old brother and I live at my mom's and see my dad every other sunday at 11:00. The problem is that my dad wants half of our house (he wants us to sell it even though he promised in march he would let us keep the house) and that he insists he and my mom have been seperated since 1998 when they have only been seperated since march 2004 (if he tells the truth he will have to pay more money). My mom has a great lawyer who's working very hard, but the court is kind of against us- my dad's friend Al is the bailiff.
Al is a nice guy, though my dad is not, and he and my dad used to be friends because they were both police officers in Oakland. One day as they were making an arrest there was a fire (no one is sure quite how). Al was trapped and my dad saved his life, but Al got some brain damage (I'm not sure how severe it is). Now Al owes my dad big-time so the court is biased against us, basically. Is there anything my mom can do about:
(A) The date of seperation (if needed my brother and I can attest to when they seperated)
(B) Him forcing her to sell the ohuse (not yet but he will and we will have to move far away, it costs a lot to live where we do)
(C) the court being biased?
If anyone knows any website or can help me, that would be great. Thanks in advance. (link)
|
I don't know the laws of California but here's some info. I hope it helps.
A. If your parents didn't have a legal seperation then the judge just has to either believe your mom or dad, and since your dad is a diagnosed chronic liar the judge may favor your mom.
B. In the case of homes, a judge will usually order the house to be sold and the money from the sale to be split between the two.
C. The bailiff has nothing to with the judge. All he does is state who the plantiff and who the defendant are. He shouldn't have any way to cause the judge to be bias.
Good luck. I know divorce is hard.

What are the causes of sciatica nerve damage and how do you treat a damaged sciatica nerve? (link)
|
Causes- poor posture, muscle strain, pregnancy, being overweight, wearing high heels or sleeping on a too-soft mattress. It can also result from a slipped disc or inflammation of the sciatic nerve, in some cases caused by osteoarthritis.
Treatment- muscle relaxants, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), systemic painkillers, narcotics or corticosteroids. Physical therapy is often recommended, once acute inflammation and pain have subsided. A nutritionist may suggest daily doses of the amino acid DL-phenylalanine taken every other week to help alleviate pain.

I think I have a problem with sleeping, for about 4 months now, I can't get to sleep until about 2-3am, even on school nights. I'm always tired in the day at school, and I find it difficult to concentrate in lessons because I keep wishing the time would go faster so I can go home to bed. Because after school, when I get home, I go to bed at about 4pm and then wake up to do my homework at 8pm. I'm wide awake after then so I can't sleep until 3am. I've tried staying awake after school, but I was still wide awake until 3am. I can't keep not sleeping after school because I'm too tired to do homework when I get home, and if I don't do my homework I'll get loads of detentions. My mum thinks I should go to the doctors, but I'm refusing, because I'm terrified that they'll do a blood test on me, the thought makes me feel sick. How can I get into a normal sleeping pattern without going to the doctors, and if I have to go to the doc's, am I allowed to refuse to have a blood test? Thanks =] (link)
|
I've had this same problem. When you get home from school do your homework instead of sleeping right away. Or, instead of sleeping for four hours take a power nap (about 30 minutes). If you're still tired just go to bed early, around 9 maybe.
Sleeping aides do help, but they're easy to get addicted to so I don't really recommend them.
If you do have to go to see a doctor you can refuse to let them take blood, but that's one of the best ways for a doctor to find out what's wrong with you. Having your blood drawn is not very painful (it feels like a tiny pin prick)and takes no time at all. Just close your eyes and it'll be over before you know it. good luck!

I think I have depression, I've got almost all the symptoms on this website, and I've felt like this for about 5 months. I don't know how to tell my mum; she's so old fashioned and she thinks that young people can't get depression, and I'm 14 so she won't believe me. I started crying this morning for a stupid reason but I was feeling depressed, and she just said, "oh, here we go." She won't believe me if I tell her. I don't know who to tell, my friends are immature and won't understand - or they'll laugh about it, 'cos I'm good at hiding how I feel and I smile when I'm feeling bad so no-one notices. I can't make a doctors appointment myself, and I don't know how to get a counsellor, and anyway I also think I've got social anxiety so I wouldn't be able to say anything for them to help. How can I get rid of this depression because lately I've been considering suicide and looking on the net for ways to go about it. Thanks xo (link)
|
First off, be careful about diagnosing yourself. To really know if you have depression you should see a doctor.
Most schools have guidance counselors that are always available to help you. If your school doesn't have any counselors you could go see an administrator. If you feel you can't talk to anyone at your school you should talk to a family member since you feel that your friends aren't mature enough to talk to.
Another idea could be to call the National Hopeline Network. They have counselors to speak with and it's completely anonymous. The number is 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433)
Suicide is never a good answer. Don't end your life when you're so young because you'll never know how wonderful your life could turn out to be in the future. I wish you the very best. stay strong!

A friend came to me with a problem. She's been involved with a man for about 10 years now. She recently rekindled a relationship she had with a much older man. Her problem, she loves them both, but is torn between them. The older man was a friend of her fathers and has more of an infatuation with him, meanwhile her feelings towards the other man is starting to fizzle out. What should she do? (link)
|
Perhaps neither man is right for her. If her feelings for the current man she's involved with aren't very strong anymore than there is no point to continue the relationship. But an infatuation may not be the best reason to start up another relationship. If your friend does want to see how things turn out with the older man she should probably wait a bit and take things slowly since she has been involved for 10 years.

I'm finding myself totally depleted of energy more and more of the time at the moment. All my school work is mounting up and I've got exams coming up that I've had no time to study for since I've been too busy doing all the coursework etc. Also I have a job which is fair demandin at times. there's just too much to do all at once and i don't know how I can cope!
Also it's now gotten to the point where i can't sleep at all. I'm constantly worrying as I'm also trying to find time for a social life and the band I'm in because we've got quite a few gigs coming up. please help, I'm too tired and stressed and I just need some general advice on how to try and sort things out into some sort of order.

Planning out your day could help. This may sound time consuming, but take just a few minutes in the morning to think about what you want to get done that day. (you could even write a list) Try not to worry too much about what you're going to have to do tomorrow.
About the sleeping....before you go to bed don't eat. If you eat before you sleep you'll wake up tired in the morning because your body was working all night to digest food. Also, listen to some relaxing music, or read a book. Anything that will help clear your mind of the things you're worrying about.

i really like this guy but i have nothing to talk to him with on aim... i kno people say intrests but iv tried that!! what can i talk to him about (link)
|
You could try talking about your day. Tell him what went on and such. That should spark a conversation.
