Hey my name is Courtney. I'm in 10th Grade at East Grand Rapids High school.I have long blonde hair, hazel eyes and im 5'7. haha. I love to snowboard, hang out with my friends, go to movies, work out, read, and I LOVE the beach. One thing I'd love to do more of is travel. I would like some advice on what to look for in a decent, used Laptop computer. I'm looking to use this for internet use, Word programs etc, and pretty light on the game play with a CD Rom and floppy. What is the price range I'm looking at for something very decent but also not new, because I only have about $350 max to work with.

Is it lame of me to think to find a good laptop on ebay?
If I try to find one on ebay, what specs should I look for? I'm not up on what RAM, ROM, is considered 'good', or anything about internet cards.

I was also told that laptops are basically useless, and that if I want a personal computer I should just get a desktop one. How true is this?
Is my search hopeless?

Its not really LAME to look on ebay for laptops, you've just got to be really careful about who you're buying from and stuff, otherwise if you're not careful you could get ripped off. My laptop I have is an Inspiron 2650, its held up pretty well. Ive had it for like 2 years. It has windows XP, DVD player, 256 MB and stuff like that. When looking for a laptop, try to get one with XP, and def. not anythings below 98. Also, the operating system of WINDOWS ME has NOT been a good system from what ive heard and it sucks. if you decide to not get a laptop, you can probably get an O.K desktop thats brand new, but remember you get wut u pay for. Hi! I need help! I know how to delete things out of the history folders on computers, but everything is also saved in my address bar. How can I delete the names of websites in the address bar? (I'm trying to be sneaking ordering my bro's b-day present this year. He's a snoop.)

On internet exp. go to tools, browser options and click clear history and that should do the trick :)

Is there a way to turn off the computer without logging off of AIM? I tried hibernate & standby. Hibernate saves the desktop as is but it makes AIM sign off. And on standby, the computer blinks over and over again. Is there anything else I can try?

There is no way to shut off your computer but stay online. the closest thing to shutting it off, is shutting off the monitor.

i have a logitech wireless mouse and keyboard and every so oftern the keys dont work they keep stopping and no writing appears! What do i do? why is this doing this? how can i stop it? it hasnt cut out yet touch wood but please help ive tried re-starting my pc. thankz

Eh, I can't stand wireless mice, or keyboards. But try replacing the batteries, that might be your problem.

the mouse on my laptop broke, the one where you use your finger to move.. and it wont move at all and this has been happening for the past 2 weeks and everytime the mouse doesnt work, i need to press tab to get everywhere. i tried to plug in a mouse but there are no plugs for the mouse. i heard that all laptops had this but why doesnt this laptop have it? by the way this laptop is from dell and it saysinspiron | 1100 on the top ..can someone help me make the mouse work?

To make things easier to understand, go to this link here, http://www.itmedia.co.jp/products/0307/11/l_inspiron5100_back.jpg . this is the model of laptop you have correct? looks like to me there IS an extra mouse plug in. Look at the back of your laptop and it should be the same as that in the picture. see the rounded plug, that is on the somewhat left side, and its to the far right of the vent, plug the mouse into there and it should work, if the mouse doesnt work right away, reboot ur computer. if u need more help just ask.

my aim is so weird..when im on usually about after 5 minutes it wont let me look @ anyones profiles like it would say "please wait..." except it would never go..and like it doesnt send me any messages my friends send..and then it says that ive sent a message but the other person doesnt get it..then after like another minute it wont let me send anything.then it signs me off and then back on again
but then i look @ how long ive been on and it says that ive been on the whole time...its so weird

Try re-installing AIM, or getting a different version of it. But to get rid the thing where it says you've been online the whole time, I.M this screen name "AOL SYSTEM MSG" and press one, it'll sign you off the other locations, because unless you sign off by clicking sign off, it'll show u as online for a while but it'll eventually sign you off. Its weird like that but just im the sn i gave you and it'll make it so it doesnt say uve been on the whole time.

I'm getting a new computer soon and I'm not sure what operating system to install. I've been using Windows XP for a while but i've had quite a few people tell me that Linux is better. I use a computer for playing games, watching films and word processing. Which operating system does these things the best? I already have windows xp so cost isn't an issue.

I personally love Windows XP. I have not used linux myself, but I have had people tell me they did not like it as well as XP.

Try uninstalling and re-downloading. If that doesn't work just use aim express.

I have massive amounts of spyware and all that crap. I am going to have to re format it but I'm wondering if I can fix it on my own. If I just download a spyware removal program-it makes it worse. I tried removing the program, but all it does is show up again. Is there anyway I can remove programs for sure without using "add or remove programs" because it doesnt seem to work. Oh and any other tips for stopping this whole spyware thing? Whoever thought of spyware should be shot...
