hi, I am hard of hearing and very good at sign language, i was wondering anybody knows any sites on play wanted or site had bout being actore but you have dibitles and deafness

I live in San Francisco and the high school for the deaf puts on shows in sign language. I don't know where you live though but if theres some type of organazation for deaf people near you and they don't do shows you should get them too. The school out here did Beauty and the Beast.

I'm really upset. I just recently tried out for Grease. And I don't think I got in. And I think the only reason why is because the director couldn't read my e-mail address. I think I did good because the man I sang to for my audition said I did excellent. I am wondering should I e-mail the director? She didn't send out all the cast things yet but it's just not fair that she is sending out roles on different days. What should I do?

Wouldn't they call you if they coulden't read your email? or was your email the only contact. I think if you did get in you'll be notified somehow

I don't know who I need to talk to about this. I'm just looking for someone to try and help me make sense of my situation. See, I've always dreamed of being famous. Being an actress or singer and making millions. Being as popular as Britney Spears was and all that. But, the problem is I like in a small town and inside, I know that it is so unlikely I am going to ever have the chance to be famous. I;m in local plays and musicals, but I get small roles. I don't have a good singing voice either. But, every day I dream and think about this. Does everybody want to be famous ? Or do you think i should pursue this dream, that i think about this a lot for a reason? help!

You don't have to have a good voice. Look at Hillary Duff and Ashely Simson. They have ok voices but they are nothing compared to Whitney Houston. They make it on personality and looks.

Hey ya'll!

I am going up to New york to see the Broadway play Wicked in March. I became totally obsessed with the play and I bought the sound track, made a collage of pictures of the cast and the cast in the play. But like a week ago I found out, I am not going to see the original cast. I still want to go see it, But why did they change the cast? Its a brand new broadway play...why?
Just wanted to know & thanks... and I rate!
xo0x

*Edit*
Ok, I know I answered this a really long time ago, but when I was in New York, I took a dance class with some cast members from Wicked and my friend asked them what happened to Idina Menzel and what happened was, in the scene where Dorthy pours water on her and she melts, Idina went to step in the trapped door and it wasn't there so she fell about 7 stories and ended up just breaking one rib. They stopped the show and she was rushed to the hospital and her standby who was all ready in green makeup filled in for like the last 10 min of the show. Pretty interesting :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Casts can't stay the same for ever. The original cast was doing it for about a year which is pretty good. The actors get sick of it after a while and go on to other musicals or get offered movies or tv shows.
I heard a rumor....I don't know how true this is.... but that Idina Menzel went down the traped door like she does in every show but someone moved the latter and apparently she fell pretty far and broke a bunch or ribs. Regardless I don't think she would have been doing the show much longer.
As for Kristin Chenoweth, she doesn't last long in any of the shows she does.
Hope I gave you the answer you were looking for.
I'm going to New York in March t*o see it too!!
Ok I tried talking to her and she still won't listen, but one of her friends said that she was mad at me for something that I did last year but they didn't say what. Should I just give up?
I think you're trying too hard. Plus, if you weren't friends ever then it's a little odd to try talking to her about it. Pretend nothing happened and don't give up just don't try as hard.
16/f/Ca
I'm going to be a Senior next year, which means I need to start thinking about colleges, majors and such. Even though I've only done 1 play in my life, I was in show choir for one year, and when I was little I was always in chorus in church musicals, I really want to study theatre. When I was little I hated performing, but as I got older, I've just been more interested in the whole acting thing. I've taken an acting class (for television, not for theatre) and even though it was two hours of notes and some acting, I LOVED it. I loved learning the techniques and its something I'm interested in. I'm a shy person when you first get to know me. The second day of class we had to cry in front of the class and I was able to do it, and I loved it. That was probably one of the best moments of my life. The whole class was silent (I was the youngest one. Second to the youngest, was probably a 20 year old), watching me and when I was done, the teacher said I was the best one.
The problem is, is that I'm never in the school plays, or musicals (even though i was in show choir--singing and dancing--musicals aren't my thing, I'm more into acting) because the director picks and already has his favorites and he is so wierd in a freaky way... Anyways, even though I LOVE acting, going to movie sets (I was an extra in a movie) I haven't used my talent at all except for the little things I listed above. If I want to major in theatre, is it bad that I haven't done much yet? If I study it in college, I know that I'll most likely be very active in it (I'm a good liar--which is like acting...so I kind of have a little natural talent). I mainly want to do television/commercial. I've been to plays as well as numerous of movie/tv sets and I think I would love commercial acting better. Is it something I should go for?
I don't think it matters that your not big on musicals because thats the problem i'm having. I want to do musicals and some schools theater programs don't even touch on that so you don't have to worry about that.
I know someone who is really big on theater just as I am, but I don't think she likes me very much. I have tried talking to her, but she doesn't listen. What should I do?
Oh goodness, the drama that goes on with the theater people. Theres a huge gang of us at my school and we are all so clicky. I think a lot of it is just based on eachothers talent ex "I don't like her because she isn't talented" or "I don't like her because she is way better then me". I had a person like that, now a friend. The random talking just didn't work but we worked together on a project and all that hanging around doing it brought us together. Hope I helped. If you have any more questions ask me.
There's a play in my school. Im interested in trying out for the main part, Winifred. Except i dont look anything like her. I can sing her solo song, shy, as good as the broadway performer, but 4 auditions we have to sing the star spangled banner. I've been practicing SHY for a long time and i'm not good at the star spangled banner! I dont no how to make my talent show singing that song, plz give me advice.
Don't get all hung up because you think you don't look like her. There is never a totally set way a character MUST look. It's flexable. and shy is such an out there loud belty song, you should be able to sing the star spangled banner. Just pretend your singing shy. Sing it the same way.
hey!
Im in theater class and i have to do a monoluge containing a conflict in it. I really want to awake feelings in people and by uniuqe...one that no one will have. most of the ideas i came up with are already taken such as playing a teenager with a defect and his issues, or about to love someone or forget someone. im really kinda clueless right now, and i need as much as i can get. If you're going to answer this, please make sure u dont give me some relevent ideas, but something that u think if is acted well, could awake strong feeling in the crowd. thank u very much!! have a good day =D
Personaly, I think monologues always end up more successful if your farther away from who you really are so you can be in a total different character. Don't be a typical teenager.
Some suggestions...
1) A woman who lost a loved one in 9/11
2) a pregnat woman who is trying to decide on having an abortion or not.
3) A homeless person, you could talk about the problems of being homeless, people treating you badly, how you got that way, etc.
4) I think any minority, like it would be touching if you were a muslum girl talking about how people though you were a terrorist after 9/11 and how it made you feel.
If you have any more questions, ask. I have a lot of knowledge and experence in this area and i'd love to help!!
Hey everyone,
I'm playing a character in play where i have to keep a straight face while someone sings to me in German... does anyone have any advice on how to keep a straight face and not laugh or giggle during the performance?
I've had this problem before. One of the most important things to do to start off, is don't look dirrectly at the person. Pick a spot somewhere behind them to stare at. Then get into character. If you get really into character and out of reality you won't laugh.
I am Juliet. My Romeo is gay. At the end of the play there's a kissing scene. So as not to offend his homosexuality I need to learn how to fake kiss. Any ideas?
HOw would it have offenced his homosexuality? I would have just kissed him noramlly (closed mouth tho) My best friend who is gay allways pecks me on the lips now and then to show how much I mean to him.
I Was cast as puck in act five for the school play. I really hate that part. I really want to be in the school play but I really don't want to be puck, especially in act five. I don't understand why they cast me as puck since I'm a girl and auditioned for Titania and the lovers. What should I do?
omg puck is the best part!!!
When I saw it this beautiful girl played her. She was like a cute little pixie who had a temper like tinker bell. It was so cute!
If you still really don't want to play it I would say quit. There are probally so many other people who would love to have that part!
Hey, I'm 13 and am having a slight problem. I started dancing when I basically stared to walk. I have been part of the "gifted singers" program for a while, I write poems and short stories, paint, and have gotten leading roles in many theater productions. I have no idea where to invest most of my energy! What path should I choose? ~insanity_will_dominate
I would definately say musical theater! If your an actor in the show you can sing and dance. Then when you decide you want to do more (when your older) you can write songs (poetry) and a musical (short stories). With your painting you can design sets and paint sets
i am, well, you could say a Drama Geek. lol. i have not missed even ONE audition for any school or community plays since i started my freshman year (i am finishing my junior year right now). there for a while i kept getting chorus or extra, which was fine to start with, but when i decided i wanted bigger parts, last summer, i was not put in any production for about year now!!! i try out and try out, but never even get a part! is there anythign i can od to improve my skill and/or have a better audition?
Get a vocal coach. Have them pick a good song for your voice type and level that will show off what you have. My vocal coach also shows me some things to do so I'm not just standing there the entire time. mail me if you want more advice.
