Being pulled in numerous directions...

Question Posted Wednesday April 28 2004, 5:58 pm

Hey, I'm 13 and am having a slight problem. I started dancing when I basically stared to walk. I have been part of the "gifted singers" program for a while, I write poems and short stories, paint, and have gotten leading roles in many theater productions. I have no idea where to invest most of my energy! What path should I choose? ~insanity_will_dominate

I would definately say musical theater! If your an actor in the show you can sing and dance. Then when you decide you want to do more (when your older) you can write songs (poetry) and a musical (short stories). With your painting you can design sets and paint sets

I would go w/ which you enjoy the most. I know most people will say "But I like them all", but go w/ your favorite to do.I would just think for a really long time, and then decide.GL

dear insanity_will_dominate,
well, you frist need to find what is you favorite out of them all. then you should stick with that one. you have to many thing you are good at so pick one and you might have your career. but might dont think i am trying to be mean but it would be good to have only one thing your really like. but you never know where it can take you in like.

I think you need to get opinions on what you can do best and go for that. I don't mean from mates, who might be biased, but from teachers, other aquantances etc.

Remember that dancing, singing and acting go hand in hand.

You might also want to look at what sort of collages/ scholerships/ career prospects are like for each feild.

Think about which one you enjoy doing most. It should be about what you like to do most, not how much money you make or what people think about you. You are right that you should pick one to invest the most energy in, but if you enjoy all of them and have time, then do all, but focuas especially on one.
