Your periods will likely be irregular for quite some time if you just started. Not to mention that cycles can vary from 28 days to 35, depending on the woman. Or more. Or less. Even when you're "established," so to speak, it may vary. Let's say you settle at 30 day cycles eventually. Well, if one time it's only 29, that's normal. Or it stratches to 31. That's normal.
Some woman can predict their periods to the hour. The rest of us just kind of know when it's coming.

Q: How do you become a model? I really want to be one but the problem is.. I'm not all that pretty. :/
Compared to most girls in my school. They all look the same and I.. look different I guess. My eyes are big and my skin isn't pale. My hair is not long. I'm short.
I've always been interested in modeling but everyone is so beautiful. So i don't think i can get anywhere. Are looks everything? Do you have to have perfect skin, beautiful eyes, blonde hair, etc?
Yes. You have to have good skin, lovely eyes, skinny waist.
Yes, looks are everything. It's modeling, for god's sakes, that's the point. There are some modeling positions for girls of different weights and heights, but even if they want a short, chubby girl, they will want her to have a pretty face and good proportions. Even plus size modeling requires certain waist to hip ratios.
If you're not beautiful, don't bother.

Q: Well, things at home are not good for me. They haven't been for years, no I don't get abused or anything but I'm just not happy living here. I hate my living enviroment, and I really want to move out. I talked to my two best friends about it and they're really not happy with their familes either so we want to work as much as we can all of this school year and then next summer move in together (we have all of money problems figured out). Two of us would be 16 and one 17. My question is, what is the law for teenagers living together by themselves? We live in NJ and someone told me that you just need an adult to sign for you. Is that true? Anything is appreacited! Thanks.

You CAN get emancipated, but generally, it has to be REALLY bad at home (like, uh, abuse)
If you can get parental conesent, it might be possible though. You would need to consult a lawyer. You'd have to anyway, to do this.

Q: Okay, you know how bed sheets have a certain number thread count? What does that mean?
That's the number of threads per inch. The more threads, the thinner the threads, the softer and finer the sheets. Anything over 200 is considered very nice. 180 is about average. The highest is 330, I think.

Q: How do you figure out someone's real number when they use the *67 (the ID block)? Yesterday, my friend pranked her friend's house on private, and her friend's mother called back angry and threatening to tell her parents. I'm just wondering because I get a lot of private calls and would like to know who keeps calling and hanging up. Thanks :)

Q: I wear a DD size bra. Like, does that make me fat? And do boys like boobs that r like, DD size? Is it common do wear DD, or is that like wayy huge. Please be serious nd just answer, i'll rate high

DD really isn't that big. Well... it is, but it's not monstrous. And as far as fat, that depends more on the rest of you than your boobs.
Oh... and I'm sure many many guys like DD boobs.

Q: What's the best hair gel to use to scrunch hair that is really frizzy? Thanks.
If your hair is frizzy when you scrunch, you're waiting until it's too dry. Try gelling and scrunching it when it's a little damper. Also, you can run a liitle bit of your conditioner throughout your hair beforehand to make it smoother.

Q: I was just wondering where tears came from? Why do our eyes water whn we feel sad or get hurt? Why does our nose start to run and we get choked up? And why do they taste salty? I know this is a random question, but I'm very curious!

Tears come from your tear ducts on the inner corners of your eyes, those litte pink fleshy things. Your eyes water as a result of tears being produced, but not enough to run down your face. Tears are salty because they have salt in them. :P

Q: This kid Brandon, my cousin's friend, and i think he is totally hot! But the problem is that he's 15 and I'm like 13, and a little bit, he flirts with me like, a lot. Does anyone know signs guys can give when they like a girl? He's gone wayy to far on me trying to touch my chest and stuff, and I'm not into that. But its like when he has other girls around, im not even there. what should i do? and now he moved to arizona for the summer, skipping the rest of school this year.now i dont when hes coming back, but probably in august, and i know i'll see him. he is also a trouble-maker, egging ppl's houses and stuff, breaking windows. (etc.) how should i act?

He sounds like a jerk to me. When I was your age, I liked someone just like that. A really fast guy who ignored me around other people.

Q: i'm 13 and i'm only 5'1. i'm very self-conscious about my height so i measure myself everyday. why is it that when i wake up i'd grow half to a full inch from the night before when i measured but at the end of the day i'd measure myself again and it said that i shrunk again? this happens almost every morning, when will i stop increasing an inch and then losing an inch by the end of the day? how can i prevent it? thank u

This is quite common.
What happens, is that as the day progresses, and you are vertical, your spine compresses. (hah, that rhymed)
You can't really prevent it unless you lie down all the time. Don't be self concious, short people rock. I hate being tall.

Nah, as long as you follow directions and do it correctly.
I did my highlights out of a box and they turned out great, everyone asked me where I got them done. (I used Colour Rays, blonde)
It's fun too. :-P

Lie.
Don't tell them which day it is, fake their sig on the note and tell your teacher they changed their minds.
You will most likely get in trouble later, but it will be worth it.

Q: I have acne on my face that I hate.
I have an apointment for the dermatologist in May. But does anyone know some good over the counter stuff that I can use till then?

One thing you need to do is not wash your face too much.
If you wash it twice a day and you find yourself still breaking out like crazy, try going to once a day. Sometimes, if you strip your face of too much oil, the glands go into overdrive, and it just aggrivates the problem.
Once a day, preferably at night(it's also convenient in the shower), wash your face with a mild cleanser or scrub(Clearasil is good) . Then, dab toner on your t-zone(forehead, chin, nose, and cheekbones). Finish with a light moisturizer(something watery and not too thick).
Once a week, use a mud-type mask. Peel-off masks will irritate your skin. My favorite mask is Queen Helene's Mint Julep, available at any drugstore. That stuff is FANTASTIC, it's made for young oily acne skin. It soaks up the oil. On your nose you can see the little spots where it soaked up the blackhead oil.
Yes yes. The main thing is to get a simple regimen and stick to it.

Q: why is it that when i'm at school, i sweat alot alot under the arms, and when i'm at home, i don't sweat at all under the arms? i cud try any deoderant and reapply and reapply over and over again at school but it never ever works when i'm at school, yet when i'm at home, i barely ever sweat or it doesn't show on my shirts err ya.. well please tell me why that is so i can try to fix my problem of sweating so much that there are sweat circles under my armpits so i don't hafta wear layers and layers of clothing anymore, thanks

Well, for one, I'm sure the layers of clothing aren't helping.
Tell your doctor that you sweat a lot, and you need prescription deodorant, they make some that's REALLY strong.

Q: Today in English we were reading some story about something to do with someone having a disability wanting to play golf. He had trouble walking and had to use a cart to get around to the hole while everyone else had to walk (obviously I wasn't paying much attention). But, towards the end of class my teacher brought up a good point about what the word "fair" meant to us.
Her question was, "Is being fair treating everyone equally, or giving lea-way to those with disabilities so they can be like everyone else.
I was wondering what it meant to you guys.
Yay! Philosophy!
I think fair is giving them what they need to play, but not any kind of advantage. (Like, letting them use the cart, but not giving them any other leniencies.)
Then again... fair should really be totally equal.
Hmmm, I'm all on the fence and whatnot.

Your digital camera should have come with a USB connection to your computer, and most likely software to handle incoming media. If you aren't sure, call the company and see if they can help you out.

Q: I'm going to camp in the summer for the first time in my life. (I'm 14) I've known my friends for 3 years and they've never known me without makeout. I don't use alot but a little bit of eyeliner makes a hugeee difference! Anyways, I don't know what I should do because I don't want my friends to see me makeup-less...I mean, with makeup, I look "decent" but without, you won't even recognize me on the street. I look horrible! Please don't say..your friends should love you for you..I'm very self concious about myself and I really want to know what to do. Thanks in advance-I rate!

Now is a great time to let go a learn to love yourself, as is. This isn't about your friends at all, this is about YOU. The thing is, we think we look drastically different with or without makeup, but we don't. I rarely even notice when my friends are wearing makeup unless it's some weird bright color. It doesn't change you as much as you think it does. With that said, have you ever just... skipped the makeup for a day? I usually wear makeup and I highly reccomend it. It's exhilarating. It's just girlfriends, anyway, right? Who is there to impress?
If you must, take a small stick of eyeliner and apply a little. It's pretty quick and easy if that's all you're doing. Eyeliner is the one makeup item that does actually make a noticable difference, so I can see where you're coming from on that.

Q: I dont have normal nightmares like most people. My worst nightmares are falling down the stairs. Lame huh? So i'd just be stepping down these wooden stairs, and i'd hesitate on the last step, and fall. I always wake up with a fast heart beat. What does this mean???

Falling/tripping dreams rarely mean anything unless in the dream, something seems menacing.

Q: I have very pale, sensitive skin and I burn easily. I have never properly tanned in my life and this year I want to get a tan. I have to use a high SPF sunblock or I will burn. What is the best way to go about getting a natural tan with my skin type? I don't want to use sunbeds or fake tan.

You don't want a natural tan, trust me.
Try a fake tan. I know you said you don't want one, but some of the new ones look really good.
Mystical Tan is getting pretty inexpensive too. (Around 15 dollars where I live)

My name is Deanna: aka manrashi, banana, deanimal
I'm 15 and I like answering questions. I try to be as competent, coherant, and helpful as possible. Everyone is welcome to ask me questions personally, as it it makes me feel special.
I LOOOVE cooking and drawing and other artistic type things. I also like altering photos and making avvies/icons in photoshop, so I will take any requests for those as well. (email or IM me).
Please rate my advice, and rate it fairly. If I deserve a 2, go ahead and give me one, you won't hurt my feelings.
Pet peeve: people who answer questions just to say "That sucks, I don't know. Sux 2 B u."(If you don't know, why are you answering?) and people who say "Hope I helped!" (Obviously, or you wouldn't have an advice column)
Haha, sorry.
I'm out.
