hi i'm kirstie/21

basically i just can't stop going out to clubs.. i am so addicted to it! i get drunk most of the time but sometimes i don't, i will just go out b/c i love it. i'm not addicted to alcohol what so ever, i can easily go without it. but i just can't stop going to clubs. its costing me so much money and i dont know what i can do! ive tried to stay in on a saturday night but i feel like im missing out on something!

i know theres more to life than clubs...but i really need to realise this properly! what can i do?

The main problem is probably the people that you hang out with. If the people you hang out with go to clubs, you're going to want to go or you'll feel like you're missing out. If you hung out with people that liked to stay in and rent movies or go bowling or something cheaper, you would want to do those things, and if you didn't, you'd feel like you were missing out.
You need to think of it realistically. When you go to a club, what is that you're doing that is so much fun? Sure, it's fun to go out, but it can be equally as fun to do things that are cheaper or free. When you really think about it, I'm sure you can see that you aren't really doing things at the clubs that are so much fun that it's worth going broke over.

If I were you, I'd make some friends that like to do things other than go out to clubs. Going to see a movie, bowling, rollerskating, or hanging out at someone's house are typically much more affordable than partying at a club.
You can also have fun and have some of that party atmosphere at someone's house. The drinks are cheaper and it's just as fun because you know all the people that are there. As long as the volume is kept somewhat low, it's always fun to party a little bit at a friend's house.

You should also try to find hobbies that you enjoy doing solo. You can't always be with friends and party people. Sometimes it's good to enjoy hobbies alone. It can be really relaxing.
Find something creative that you like to do or that you always have wanted to do. Writing, painting, drawing, sculpting, photography, reading, playing an instrument, and sports are all good options.
I want to point out that photography can be extremely fun. You can go downtown and (secretly) snap pictures of people. You can get some really cool and beautiful shots if you go out on a busy evening and take pictures at random. Then you'll be out and about with people, without spending all of your money.

Good luck,
Darby(:

I have spent so long knowing people talk shit about me behind my back both because of my different personality and my physical appearance. I just want the physical appearance thing to stop ... I can't handle it sometimes ... why are people so cruel? It's not like I am really fat at all, but I'm a big guy ... I just hate how cruel the world can be when even close friends talk shit behind your back about shallow things like the way you look ... why?

Honestly, people love bringing others down to make themselves feel better. It sounds cliché, but it's really the way people are. When they point out flaws in other people, they feel better about their own flaws. It's just gossipy boredom of high school.

If your friends are saying things like that, you really need to find better friends. It's not like you're asking a lot by wanting them not to make fun of you behind your back. They probably don't really mean any harm by it; but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt your feelings. You should try talking to them about it, one-on-one. Don't do it when they're together in a group. Say, "Hey, (insert friend's name) I heard you said (insert what friend said). I don't know why you would talk about me behind my back like that, but if I hear about you doing it again, I'm done being your friend'
Short, sweet, and to the point. State what you heard, tell them you're not cool with it, tell them what you're going to do if it happens again.

Then, stick to your guns. Your friend will probably apologise or say that he didn't do it. If he apologises, just accept the apology and tell him to not talk about you behind your back again. If he says he didn't do it, tell him who told you that he said that, and that you're not going to deal with high school drama, so he better get things straightened out with whoever is saying that.

I'm seventeen years old and I'm looking for a job. The only problem is, my hair is dyed dark/bright blue. So not many places will hire me, besides like Hot Topic. But I don't really want to work there, so does anyone know of any places that will hire freaks? Haha.

I can't really think of any other than Hot Topic or a record shop maybe. You should probably dye your hair a natural colour. I look fairly normal and have applied at over 50 jobs and not even gotten a callback, so good luck trying to get a job with hair that colour, haha.

hey guys, im sure you have all heard of the new movie coming out, District 9. Well I heard that there was a secret district or something that is owned by the government, and they do really secret testing there and anyone that tries to get in is shot on the spot. I forget the name of the district. Does anyone know what Im talking about? Any info? thanks

The person below me is correct. Area 51 is a military base located in Nevada. The government owns it and they're very hush-hush about it. Most of the times I've heard about it, it's been about either the secret testing you're talking about or UFO sightings.

Here's a couple sites:

My senior pictures are coming up soon so i need to know what color shirts i should pick out. i have hazel eyes, fair skin and brown hair with lots of blonde highlights in it. thankss!

It really depends what colour the background of the picture will be. If the background is black or grey, you might want to wear something with a brighter. But if the background is a lighter colour, I think a black shirt would go will with your fair skin tone. If I were you, I'd wear my favourite shirt. You'll feel confident while wearing it and your picture will come out better.

is it legal to light a fire on the beach for cooking

It's illegal to start a fire in most public places unless you have a permit. You have to go to your local fire station, fill out an application, and have them survey the site, tell them why you're doing it, and show them your safety precautions. The local government has to approve it, too, which you can get further information about from the fire station.

Good luck,

these girls say they are going to come kick my ass both of them dont know how to fight im not really worried about it but do you have any tips on fighting?

My only tip about fighting is not to do it. Yeah, I know, typical answer. But really, it's totally pointless. Even if you can kick there ass, you're probably going to get in trouble if you do it. My friend got in a fight and hardly hurt the other girl and she got thrown in jail, then juvy for a week and a half.

Really, you don't need to talk it out either. When people have a problem with me like that, I say, "Okay. You don't like me. I don't like you. I think we've reached an agreement. Goodbye now."

You don't have to respond to them. If they're sending you e-mails, calling you, or telling other people they're going to fight you; just ignore them. Once they see that you're not going to act like a 12 year old, they'll probably feel a bit stupid for even trying it.

If they keep harassing you, one call to the cops will stop them dead in their tracks, guaranteed. I'm sure you don't want to get the cops involved, so unless they're continuously bothering you, just ignore them.

P.S. if they do come to your house or something, stay inside and call the police. They're guaranteed a trip to jail/juvy for coming on your property to fight you. If they jump you, protect your face/head.

I am hearing that Mr. Cronkite died today, but I don't understand why it is all over the news absolutely everywhere? He is just a news reporter guy right? I feel bad for asking this, but I feel worse for not knowing. Yes I know he was a news anchor, but there are lots of those out there, so what makes Walter Cronkite so special? I don't even understand why Michael Jackson is such a big deal, and who ever even heard of Walter Cronkite until today?

Thnaks!

Eh, he's a popular news anchor for a lot of reasons. First of all, he did the CBS Nightly News for a like 2 decades, and any anchor on there is going to get a lot of popularity. Plus, he's the news anchor who broke the news about the Kennedy assassination, so he's remembered for that, too.

People like Michael Jackson and Walter Cronkite might not be important to you, but to people living during the Kennedy assassination and during Jackson's prime years, they're important people. And in response to your last question, I think most people have heard of Walter Cronkite, haha.

Here's the wiki site for him if you want more information:

This is kind of a weird question. Wasn't sure where to categorize it.

I'm 24/f. I've met this guy and I've known him for a little over two years. I really enjoy his company, and I really like him. I know he likes me too, that isn't really the problem. The problem is, I live like 4 states away, so we usually see each other every 2 months. Well, the last time I saw him was in March '09. He has a really good job, and so it's hard for him to take time off work. The thing is.. like I want this to go further. He asked me if I'd move down to where he lives, and I said yes. I really want this to happen, but I don't know how to approach him about it. I want to be his girlfriend, but I also don't know how to bring it up. I feel like I'm sitting here potentially waiting for something to happen, that realistically won't ever.. I want to bring it up in conversation, but I'm not sure how.

I really don't know what to do! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

Well, you've pretty much gotten the hard part out of the way. You know that he likes you, and he must like you quite a lot to want you to live with him. now you just have to bring it up in conversation. The next time you're talking about moving down there, say something along the lines of, "So what do you consider us? As far as dating or just friends or what?"

You don't really have to worry about him saying that you're just friends since you already know he likes you. When you ask that, it will open the subject up and get you both talking about what you would consider your relationship title to be.

You can also tie the other thing right in there. The next time you're talking about moving down there, say, "Yeah, I really want to do that. When are you wanting me to move down there?" That will show that you're serious about it and that you're just waiting for the 'go'. After that, you can work together to make the transition from your current place to his current place.

Hope this helps!

How do you become a fun person to hang out with? None of my friends are very fun to hang out with, so I'm afraid when I hang out with other people that I'm not fun. What makes a person fun to be around?

You have to be yourself. You can't change the way you act because you want people to think you're 'fun'. Fun is subjective anyway. Everyone has a different idea of what is fun and what isn't.

None of your friends have told you that you're not fun. If you weren't fun in their eyes, they probably wouldn't want to hang out. I'd say that since they hang out with you, they think you're fun to be with.

I don't think it's being 'fun' as much as it's not being annoying. Even though everyone has their different peeves. Just try to be yourself but be well-balanced. Don't freak out and scream all the time, but don't sit in the corner not saying a word. Be funny when it's appropriate and be serious when it's appropriate. Try to think of fun things to suggest to your friends (seeing a movie, going rollerskating, going swimming)

Other than that, you just have to be yourself and hang out with the people that want to hang out with you. Since you do have friends that hang out with you, they obviously have a reason for liking you. Why do you hang out with your friends that aren't fun to hang out with?

It is 68 outside and 78 in here. Yet I have all the windows open and a fan going (I have no ceiling fans though). I don't understand why it is 10 degrees different outside.

I'm in a 2 bedroom apartment, what can I do to draw cold air in? Thanks.

If you just have the fans sitting on the ground in your apartment, it won't do much good. You need to put the fan on the windowsill. I put the fan to where it's blowing air into the apartment. Some people say if you but it the other way, it sucks air out, but I've had much better luck doing it the other way.

I wrote a 455 paged book. What exactly are the steps I would take to get it published?

Here are a couple sites that have the step-by-step processes to getting a book published. It's cool that you're a writer. I am a writer also.
I think a big part of getting your book published and getting the name out there is networking. You have to meet people and let them know that you just finished a book and are currently trying to get it published. If anything, it will help get the word-of-mouth out there. You never know who knows who, so keep your options open.

I want to go on a picnic with my boyfriend this summer sometime. I thought he would really like it since he's working all of the time and we always do the same things over and over together. A picnic would be a big change, you know? :) Sort-of like a nice surprise as long as I can figure out how to do it all by myself!

Anyway, what would one need to bring on a picnic to make it be considered fairly good? I've never been on a picnic before really :/

I would keep it simple. Make sure you don't bring anything with you that could spoil, like Mayo. You don't want anyone to get sick.

Cold lunch meat sandwiches would be good. Peanut butter sandwiches are also a good option. If you're just going to be going out for the picnic and it won't be a long time that the food is not out of the refrigerator, fruits are a good choice too. They're healthy and good to snack on. Bring some individual bags of chips too. Trail mix or Chex mix are good too.

As far as drinks, freeze a couple bottles of water (Not completely frozen solid, but just until they're extremely cold) and bring individual tea, kool-aid, or other drink mix packages that you poor in and shake up.

Have fun

What does it mean to trade stocks?

What is a stock even? lol.. I've never understood that. I've never understood what the stock market is.. what it does.. what it means when it goes up or down, lol

Please explain. thanks.

Stocks can be really confusing. Pretty much, each stock represents a share of the company. If your stock is blank%, that means the person owns that percent of the company.

You buy your portion of the company. If the company does well, typically your stock rises. You make money by investing money in a company that is doing well.

If you're going to buy a stock, you buy it when it's at a low price to you, then sell it when the share grows because that means you made money out of it.

That's pretty much the basics of it. Here's a site that explains it, probably better than I can:

What keeps you goin evryday? why do you wake up and do the things you do? making coffee, makin love? is life worth it?

Life is what you make it.

It's an annoying quote, but it's completely true. If you have a pessimistic outlook, life is going to suck. Not everything is perfect and it's okay to let yourself wallow sometimes. The problem starts when the wallowing doesn't end.

You have to make life worth it. To answer your last question truthfully, no, life isn't worth it unless you make an effort to find people and things that you care enough about to make life worth it, despite the bad times.

The main thing that keeps me going is writing. I am constantly writing. It's probably becoming a health hazard, I do it so much. There is nothing in the world greater to me than a blank piece of paper and a pen.

You have to find things that you have real passion for. Whether it's sports, drawing, painting, photography, writing, music, dancing, sports, etc.. Anything works as long as you have a real passion for it (and it's not bad for you).

Life does suck at times, but you have to take everything with a grain of salt and count your blessings even when things aren't going the way you would like them to. Everything gets better eventually, unless you give up on yourself. Just give it time and try to stay positive.

Who is prettier? the girl on the left or the girl on the right?

THANKS!

I think they're both pretty, actually. I'd say the girl on the right has a better facial structure though.

There was this game I used to play and I THINK it was called something like 'graffiti.' It was like there were a bunch of different rooms, but there were only fiveish people in each room. You were given a word and you had to draw that word and the other five people would guess what you were drawing, and they got it right they'd win, and etc. Can anyone tell me where I can find this?

I've never played it, sounds fun though.

Here it is on Yahoo Games:
