I've been on a downward spiral for years, and it's reaching a breaking point. And it certainly doesn't help my self-esteem when recently a guy I like has been talking to me about this other girl he likes a flip-ton.
I want to like myself again. I want to have confidence, to live a day where I don't wish I was someone else. I want to be happy again. What are some steps I can take to get my respect for myself back?
You can definitely gain back your self worth. So instead of thinking about the constant negatives, try to think of at least one positive out of every situation. You need to set goals for yourself, what do you want to achieve? It could be a full time job somewhere else, or getting your college degree, or saving up enough money to do/get something. Etc. it's not fun to hear about this girl your crush likes, but don't let it bring you down! If its not happening for you then it's not meant to be and there's someone else out there for you! Go out around town, if you're old enough go to a bar or club and enjoy yourself responsibly. If you have a group of friends call them up and go out for lunch or have a sleep over..get a manicure. Maybe you're closer with your parents and family, spend some extra time with them. If you can afford it treat yourself to something nice, like a new shirt or shoes. Little things like that will be uplifting and make you happier. It's all part of the process. Make sure you always set goals, and spend time focusing on what you like and what makes you happy. When you feel this way, it means that it is time for a change in your life for the positive. I hope I've helped!
(Rating: 5) That's a great idea, actually! Setting goals always helps me buckle down and focus on a task at hand... Thanks for the advice! Never a bad thing to be prescribed to treat yourself. :)
