I came here to answer computer questions. (This used to say "...and nothing more.")

What I meant was, I don't know how much help I would be with other things... NOT that I would be upset if you asked a non computer question!

It's an Ottoman Compass.
But I can't find a history on it or a translation anywhere, and although it looks like Arabic and I speak a bit, I can't understand it.

Could anyone point me to a translation? (link)
Hi there,

I can't help with a translation, but I may be able to fill you in and point you in the right direction.

I am almost 100% certain that isn't Arabic. I believe it to be Turkish Ottoman script.

I also believe that it has a name completely unrelated to the word "compass" in English.

I thought with that information, and the idea that this has become a scholarly pursuit, you might search in different places.

May I suggest starting with the contact form for the site on which you found this?

... Perhaps they would have the right name of this in Either Turkish or Arabic. With that information in hand, it may be no big deal to get what you want. Until the name is known, however, there is very little anyone here is likely to be able to help with.

Thank you very much. It is old Ottoman Turkish, and I have some university professors helping me with the translation.
