Q: i get really big clots with my period. im already on ibuprofen and take 2 4 times a day to try and help. i use tampons and they just slip right past it but i cant use a higher tampon size because ive tried and it hurts and the clots still slip by. does anyone have anything to help me without having to go out or anything? and does drinking water help?? thanks in advance!! and im 14 and a virgin and i dont realy let my period affect my social life although it slows me down
It's completely normal to pass blood clots while on your period- all women have them. I would suggest using a pantiliner or small pad in addition to using a tampon, since you say they often 'slip by.' I think that may be the only thing you can do, and I don't think that drinking water will help. You should make sure to take a multivitamin or eat food that are rich in iron during this time.
Women get the most blood clots during the heavy days of their period. I did read online that if you notice the blood clots are bigger than a quarter, you might want to talk to a doctor.
It's completely normal to get bloodclots, but you might want to read up on it to get more information.

thanks

I am here to give honest advice, when I feel I have something to contribute. I try to be as empathetic and understanding as I can, as I know that the way something is said is as important as the message itself.

I usually advise on love/relationships, friendship and family issues, nutrition, and health (mental and physical). If I feel I can help out, there's not a whole lot I am unwilling to answer. Ask away!
