i get really big clots with my period. im already on ibuprofen and take 2 4 times a day to try and help. i use tampons and they just slip right past it but i cant use a higher tampon size because ive tried and it hurts and the clots still slip by. does anyone have anything to help me without having to go out or anything? and does drinking water help?? thanks in advance!! and im 14 and a virgin and i dont realy let my period affect my social life although it slows me down
If its really a killer for you, ask your mom to take you to the doctor and get birth control pills that lighten it. Even though you're not active, they'll help. They've helped quite a few of my friends.
(But make sure to explore all risks associated with each brand with your doctor to choose the right one) [ basketcase_x08's advice column | Ask basketcase_x08 A Question ]

Although clots are normal, usually birth control (although you are not having sex) can help make your periods lighter with less days. It may be an idea to venture. Also, have you talked to your mom about it? There is probably the possibility that it is something that is hereditary. [ Gotta_Giveit_Up's advice column | Ask Gotta_Giveit_Up A Question ]

I would suggest using a pantiliner or small pad in addition to using a tampon, since you say they often 'slip by.' I think that may be the only thing you can do, and I don't think that drinking water will help. You should make sure to take a multivitamin or eat food that are rich in iron during this time.
Women get the most blood clots during the heavy days of their period. I did read online that if you notice the blood clots are bigger than a quarter, you might want to talk to a doctor.
It's completely normal to get bloodclots, but you might want to read up on it to get more information. [ ciao77's advice column | Ask ciao77 A Question ]

Sabine answered Tuesday April 17 2007, 12:34 pm: You just need to see a doctor about this, hon, because there are things she can prescribe, like possibly birth control pills, and conditions that she can rule out. There's no standard way to treat this without seeing a doctor. Staying hydrated may help or may not. Good luck.
