I work as a Customer Laison Complaints Case Officer at a major insurance company, where I have worked for 3 years. I left school when I was 17, as I had some very bad experiences at school and wanted to see what the real world had to offer.
I now live with my boyfriend of 3 years and spend my spare time reading, writing, socialising with friends or just watching some TV.
Times are still hard and I'm trying to cope with various health problems on a daily basis but I'm working my way through things and really want to stop it from getting me down.
I dream of some day going to America and watching a real baseball game (we don't have that at all in the UK) and perhaps finding a job I find creatively fulfilling. Until then, I'm happy trying to be me and making the best of what I have.

Hello,
Recently, I have been searching for a dog. I definitley want to go to a breeder or an animal shelter. My question: I do not know what breed to get. I am gone for about six hours a day, so I need a dog that can be alone for some time. I plan on giving it extensive obedience training along with classes. I have a medium yard and when I get home I plan on exercising and spending time with it. I am leaning towards a medium sized dog. It is also important that it does not have a long coat, does not shed that much, because I really don't think I can spend that much time grooming it. (I am prepared to do it once a week.) Do any dog owners or dog lovers have any suggestions of breeds? Thanks! (link)

A Golden Labrador might be a good option. They are widely known as one of the easiest breeds to train, are very loyal and have shorter fur than their bouncier friends, the Golden Retriever. The downsides are that retrievers do need a lot of exercise and they can get dirty quite quickly if you take them out in rain/mud/on a beach.
Bassett Hounds - Absoloutely beautiful dogs who require quite little exercise due to their short legs. Usually very friendly, very short haired so need little in the way of grooming. However, they can be prone to back problems due to over-breeding through time and although relatively sedate dogs, if you get one that wants to make noise, they have one of the loudest barks I've heard!
Beagle - Relatively small-medium sized dog with short hair. They usually cope quite well with being left alone for a time, as long as you leave plenty of toys to occupy their time and they get out enough when you are there. Because they are small-medium sized dogs, they don't need a massive amount of exercise, although at least one walk a day is always recommended with any dog. They are also very friendly.
Hope that helps with your decision! Personally, I would recommend the Bassett Hound. One of my favourite types of dog and I always wanted to have one named Melville! Don't know why...! Anyways, hope you decide which one you would like.
