i've been getting that lovely white stuff -gr- discharge .. for like a little over a year. Should i expect my period.. if so in what sort of time frame

Well, it really depends. You might get your period soon. But, if you're really active/athletic, then sometimes you don't get your period til later, I was a runner, so I didn't start until before 8th grade! lol. But, if you want, you can go and ask your mom when you think you'll start, sometimes you start about the same age as your mom or your sister start. Or, if you around someone who is on there period, you start sooner. Hope this helps!
