I'm a fourteen year old girl from California. I'm a rabid liberal/feminist an a writer. I've been through cutting, and I'll try not to give bad advice. Ask me whatever you like . . . I'm not so good on romance questions, with a lack of any significant experience, but I'm good on everything else.

I am 14 years old, 15 in 2 weeks.. and I just found out I'm pregnant! I cried for days.. my parents dont know yet and I dont know how to tell them...They said they would ALWAYS support me but I doubt they will now when Im not sure who the father is... how should i bring up the convo with my mom and dad? (link)
|
Figure out which one of your parents or family members it's the easiest to talk to and will understand you the most. Get them alone and be straightforward as you can. "Mum/Dad/Brother, I'm pregnant." Together you can decide how do approach this with the rest of your family.
Good luck. This must be a very difficult situation for you.

ummm im 13 and i weigh 78 pounds is that what im suposed 2 weigh if not what is (link)
| |
It depends on your height. If you're short, then there's a chance it's fine. Check at http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm. It's a BMI counter. You enter your height and weight, and it shows you your BMI which you can compare with the "healthy" ranges. I don't think age matters that much at all.

im 13 yrs old almost 14 iv been strugglinh with eating disorders the past 2 years, ive been eating now regularyly and gaining the weight i lost back. its really hard knowing i used to be so thin, anyone have any advice? and im 5'1 or 5'2...for those two heights whats a healthy weight for them? thanks
(link)
| |
For 5'2, you can be anywhere between 101 to 136, I think. Not sure for 5'1, but I hope I helped.
|
|
ok im about 5' and i weigh 106 lbs and my friends all say im skinny but i dont seem to think im skinny and i know that muscle weighs more then fat and im a gymnast and a softball player but i still think im gaining weight and i guess i eat ok.. but im still worried that im becoming fat.. am i fat? (link)
| |
No, you are not. According to the American BMI counter your BMI is 20.7, which is actually slightly to the skinny side of normal. And if you're a gymnast (like me!) with sofball on top of that it throws the scale off completely because of the muscles.

a while ago you answered my question about baby names for my sister's baby and gave me some awesome suggestions... i let my sister read it and she has decided to name her baby girl Willow. so we both wanted to thank you very much! :) (link)
| |
Glad I could help! Hope Willow likes her name. ^^
|
|
Can someone give me some names for a girl and a boy, please? I love writing stories, but I don't know any good names! PLEASE help! (link)
|
Depends on the story. For fantasy go for unusual, exotic names. Make them up yourself! You can find names on BabyNameCenter.com, which has an entire section on unusual names.
Here are some of my favorite names for girls:
Elle
Alexis
Jade
Larkin
Eve
Natasha
Kennedy
Kinsey
with fantasy, it's fun to take normal names and spell them oddly. Like Maddilynn instead of Madeline, or combine two names, like Natalyn made out of Natalie and Madeline. You can also change them in minor ways, like Brianni instead of Brianna.

The radio station I listen to cranks out the cheesy pop tunes until I'm ready to explode some one/thing. Does this give me permission to send them hatemail until they play some REAL music? (and it is the only radio station in the area, besides classical) (link)
|
Hate mail away! Hate mail-writing can be fun. Get clever. Spoof the words of Britney's latest horrible whiney noise and send that to them.
And cheer up! classical isn't so bad. It's quite relaxing, actually.

is a fish a good pet? or is a dog better? i cant decide, people help me!!! (link)
|
depends on how much time you have. Fish are very low maintenance. All you have to do is be careful about how much you feed them. Dogs take time, quite a bit of it. And they bark. And they bite small children on occasion (sorry, I have issues with that). But some dogs are quite nice.
As I said, it's all about how much time you have. I personally would go for the fish, but as I said, I'm biased.
If you can't decide based on maintenance time, think about how attatched you want to get to your pet and how your house/apartment/living space would be for a dog. Think about your friends (do they have allergies?) and other pets, if you have any.

my sister is having a baby and she really loves symbolic and unique names so i was wondering if i could get some suggestions... thnx :-D (link)

for a girl:
Willow
Eve
Mena
Kethry
Kinsey
For a boy:
Alister
Alexei
Esau
BabyNameCenter.com has lists of unusual names. The boy names were taken from there. It also has this to say about unusual names:
If you do not want to use a popular or traditional name, there are many ways to come up with your own unique name. Some techniques you can use to come up with a unique or unusual name is to use an ethnic or foreign variation of a popular name (Emilia, an Italian form of Emily), using a place name (although there are some popular ones like Dallas or Dakota), using an occupation as a name (Sailor), using a last name or surname as a first name (Kennedy), or using names from nature (Summer, River, Forest, etc).
You can also create your own name by adding a diminutive ending to a popular name (-ina, -ette, -ita), adding a prefix before a name (Da-, La-, Ta-, etc), spelling a common name differently, or combining or blending other names.
The danger of using a unique name, especially if it is very unusual, is that while it may make your child stand out from the crowd, he may stand out too much and can lead to teasing.
I would also suggest fantasy novels (such as Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar series) as a source of unique names. That's where Kethry came from.

How modestly do you think people should dress? How do you determine what is modest or not? (link)
|
It depends on where you're going and what you're comfortable with. If you're going out to the movies with friends, think about whether you'd feel comfortable hanging out with them in a public place in your clothes.
If you're going out to dinner with your grandparents, different standards apply.
Also, some people consider low necklines very revealing, while others do not. I wear spaghetti straps all through summer, and some people accuse me of trying to be revealing, even though it's just to be comfortable. People have different standards of what is revealing. In hot whether, particularly, it's impossible to please them all.
If it's in the dead of winter, dress a little more modestly, even if you don't feel the cold as much as everyone else. Otherwise people think you're trying to be really revealing, even if the clothing's just what you're comfortable in.

this may seem shallow but, why are all the young teenagers(generally below 15) OBSESSED with the fag rock bands, like GC, and simple plan, and that crap? (link)
|
you're one of those annoying labelers, aren't you?
I'm almost fifteen, and, although I like those bands, I've never been obsessed with them. I don't obsess over any bands. Half the time I don't know or care what's on the radio, so long as I like it.
And just so you know, it's not nice to call bands "fags."

Everytime I shave down there or my bikini line I get these red dots a few hours afterwards...I've tried
- Shaving cream
- Shaving the way the hair grows
- Putting lotion on
Is there anything else I can do?? (link)
| |
try removal cream, like Nair or bikini bare. Just be careful with it.

I discovered a dimensional rift under my bed sometime last year. It was never a problem until just recently it began to suck in my left socks I left on the floor. In exchange for them, it deposits lady bugs in my room. The bills for my black cotton footwear are starting to add up and I can no longer stand the sight of lady bugs. Do you have a solution to my perils? Is there a way to mend this? (link)
|
call Miss Cleo and have her come over to your house. She and she alone holds the power to fix the dimensional rift.
If you can't get a hold of her due to jail time, catch the lady bugs and sell them. Many people use them to rid their gardens of aphids. With the money you make, you can buy new socks.

|
-surf the internet together
-watch movies (turn the sound down)
-cook (but don't make a mess)
-do a story where you take turns telling it.
-If there are any board cames around, play them. Make up new rules if you feel like it.
|
|
does anyone know anything i can do?..14/m!AAHHHHH i'm going crazy (link)
|
-The internet. It is a wonderful place. Browse this site, or find another. Jokes are usually amusing (jokes.com) or you can often find movie scripts (dailyscript.com, simplyscripts.com) or you can spend hours reading webcomics (keenspace.com, onlinecomics.net). I recomment noneedforbushido.com, errantstory.com, sluggy.com, or sgvy.com. There are lots out there that are fun to read. Quizzes (quizilla.com) are also good.
-Read. It's good. Go to the library or look through your books at home. Fantasy books are usually interesting. I recommend The Black Swan, by Mercedes Lackey, Blood and Chocolate, by Annette Klause, or Sabriel, by Garth Nix. If you don't like fantasy, Sue Henry is a good author.
-Cook. Cooking is quite fun, actually. If you have a chocolate cake mix lying around, you can make great cookies by adding 1/3 cup canola oil and two eggs and cooking them at 350° for eight to ten minutes. They're very easy, and they don't make too much of a mess. You can also look through cook books and on the sides of packages.
-Write. You can write poetry or fiction. Fanfiction is good too, because there isn't the same pressure to make it good. You can find challenges online like writing a dialogue starting with "Martha, where did you put the poodle."
Hope I helped!

i get bored really easily. i live on the other side of town to most of my friends and there arent any clubs or anything that i could go to. has anyone got any ideas of what to do? (link)
|
Hmmm . . .
You could start a project at home like writing a story, drawing a comic, or something along those lines, depending on your interests.
Since you don't want to join a class without your friends, you could talk to one of them and try to find a class that you can both join.
Or just take the plunge and join a class all by yourself!

i have a pretty good life how come i am not happy (link)
|
not too many details here, but let's see what I can do.
Think about your life. Is there anything missing? Have you had problems with parents or friends? Are you just bored a lot?
If none of that fits, try taking some depression screening tests on the web. There's one at http://www.depression-screening.org/, or you can just google "depression screening."

im here by myself right now and im soo bored, does anyone have any good sites or something that i could do besides talk online, watch tv or listen to music .. like a good comp game or something.. ps. its too late to go outside & i can't go anywhere or have anyone come here
PLEASE HELP!
-bored out of my mind (link)
|
hmmm . . .
for games I would suggest yahoo. They've got some good ones.
For other sites:
If you have your own advicenators column, get one and have fun with it.
You can read comics online as well. I would suggest noneedforbushido.com or errantstory.com.
Quizilla.com is always good. Everybody loves quizzes. Memegen is good too. Find it at: http://memegen.deskslave.org/login.pl

if im 13, gunna be 14 in 4 months, and i still haven't gotten my period, is that abnormal or sumthin, all of my friends have already started, and sum people i kno who are younger then me have started, my mom started when she was 11, my sister started when she was going into 7th grade, and im entering 9th, and still haven't started,is there sumthin wrong wit me?? (link)
| |
I wouldn't worry. I'm almost fifteen and have never gotten it. Get a check-up if you haven't gotten it in a year or two, just to see if everything's okay, but other than that, I suppose you should enjoy your freedom while it lasts.

My best friend has a lot of shoes. all of them are really cute but every time she wears a pair they never match her outfit. how do i let her know w/ out hurting her feelings that her shoes dont match. signed,
out of style (link)
|
don't tell her unless she asks your advice on her outfit. Then you can suggest a different pair of shoes.
it's annoying being told how out-of-style your clothing is. it really is. she probably won't pay attention to you anyway, because really, after alerting her to her fashion misdemeanor, what are you supposed to do? Monitor her every outfit?
