I want to change my style from hot teen to young mom but don't want to wear things that screams old or anything like that. I know about the heels ( never wore them anyways ) and the shirts and earings and my hair but I mean on what the clothes look like themselves like the style. I don't know how to describe my style before I was pregnant but when I pictured wearing it while taking my son out as a 1 year old I looked like I was babysitting my younger brother and look 16. Doesn't help how I'm really short too (4'9"). Sorry for ranting I'm just not sure what to do.
I'm 18-not a mum, but totally get what you mean.
Something on trend, not teenager ish and stylish that flatters your figure, and makes you get taken more seriously?
This also works for people who may look young for their age, like me!
1) Try blouses. Now I'm from/live in the UK. Idk if you have Dorothy Perkins in America? But here's a link to what I mean. A cream, or pastel shade will stop you looking frumpy. When I wear this, it adds years to me in a good way, and makes me look more sophisticated. Its elegant and is great for covering up lumps and bumps. Here it is: http://www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/clothing-203535/blouses-shirts-1973671/blush-tipped-placket-shirt-2115152?bi=1&ps=20
I own the cream one. You may want to wear a t-shirt underneath this. The floatyness will distract from your height.
2)Avoid leggings. Super comfy-but super like what teenagers wear. Instead try something more sophisticated, like cropped trousers. http://www.hm.com/gb/subdepartment/LADIES?Nr=4294961817#Nr=4294929382
3) Wear scarfs. This is quite economic because if you buy a few you've got a great choice of outfits. Wear them lose though.
4) Instead of wearing converses/ugg boots, wear something more elegant. Like ballerina's. If you invest in a good pair of boots for the winter, you can get healed yet super comfy and durable ones.
5) Finally tight fitting blazers. These are everywhere at the moment and would suit a smaller frame perfectly.
To re-cap:
Floaty blouses with a defined V-neck adds years to someone in a good way.
Leggins are great for the housework but I'd opt for lose fitting trousers in black/blue to make the legs appear longer.
I think the thing to remember is yes you're a mum and clothes that are comfy are great, but you're still an 18 year old, so its nice to be on trend and comfy, and have the best of both worlds.
Hope I helped?

I was at a waterpark today with my friend -one girl, one guy-and I jokingly pointed out a cute boy that was standing by two other guys.. so my -guy- friend went over and said, 'Dude, she likes you.' ... and his friends laughed and said, 'THAT girl??!' and they did that dumb 'gag' hand gesture where they point down thier throat and pretent to throw up. The worst part was, I think, was the fact that I later found out one of the guys was the son of my dad's co-worker/best-friend... it just lowered my self esteem even more later on, when I was getting out of a pool and they started splashing me with a lot of water and yelling at me.. so I kinda lost it and flipped them off and hid in the restroom--more info-- im a middle schooler, blonde, very skinny, and short short hair.. and I have depression. :( so I guess the question is, how do I deal with this? I haven't had a boyfriend for almost two years, but every time my friend trys to set me up, she ends up with the guy, and every time one of my guy friends trys to, they come back saying guys thought I was.. ugly.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But if you don't think you're beautiful and learn to love yourself soon, how can you expect the others to do the same?
The problem with questions such as this is its easy for people to sit here and say 'I'm sure your pretty, you sound it on the inside etc'.
What really needs to happen is you need to build up your self esteem.
Those guys may not like you, but not there are other guys out there that would prefer you over their friends.
It depends on things like how you carry yourself. Tall and proud? Or is it obvious that you're unhappy with your looks, especially as you say you noticed their opinion, so look for it?
It can be hard when things like this happen, but its all about being confident in yourself. You don't just win another date on looks alone...
I think you need to learn how to cope with low self esteem. Once you've done that, THEN focus on attracting potential dates etc. They are two different issues, but you can't with a pen if it has no ink in it.
Focus on YOU. What makes you happy, and how to improve your confidence by not comparing yourself to your peers. With high self esteem and confidence, you can do anything. Get a job, partner etc.
So really learn how to cope with self esteem issues is what determines whether one is a success or not. Every teen experiences self esteem issues, that's normal. But learn to cope and you learn to succeed.

My mom had & blood clot & pneumonia twice & almost died like 2 years ago. She has diabetes & glaucoma. She can't get all of her medicine & every time she goes to the doctor they find something wrong with her. She's always coughing up mucus. Right now she just found out that she has a blocked artery in her neck & heart. I don't know if they are going to do something about her arteries. Can the doctors unblock her arteries?
Yes they can unblock it, they usually go through the main artery in the leg.
You see, you have said what's wrong with your mum, but not how all this was caused. Does she smoke? Does she eat well?
I know you're concerned, but you need to come with her to the doctors-speak with the doctor after/before she does to ask if there's anything to worry about.
Why can't she get all of her medicine? Is it too expensive?
All you can do-all that is sill in your power, is to just reassure your mum, and ensure she eats a healthy diet, drinks plenty of fluids etc and takes her meds.

Okay, I was talking to this teacher (I shall call him B). B and I were alone in his classroom talking - which is something we do quite frequently. Anyway, my friend walked in and later when I was speaking to her she commented on how there was 'a lot of tension between me and B when she came in' and that she felt very awkward walking in and as though she was interrupting something. I wasn't really sure what to think seeing as I didn't notice any tension between us (it's not something I'd ever really thought about).
But then since that day I've noticed that whenever someone (other teachers included) comes into the room when it's just me and him they always look awkward and quickly leave. Me and B will often look and them and each other awkwardly when that happens but other than that I feel things are normal around us.
I'm just not sure where all these people are getting the impression there is something between us from? Is he experiencing tension around me that other people pick up on? I don't know what he's usually like around other people so I can't judge if he treats me differently or not.
I don't know, this is all too confusing for me.
I agree with Zane.
The thing is, once you have the disturbing thought about your teacher possibly liking you, its really hard to shake off.
You never said how old you were, but I always like to be honest in my answers. I honestly do not see what a teacher, who is in quite a well paid job, what they would see in a girl of 17 and below. They have PLENTY of other ladies to pick from.
I wouldn't read into it. I know you're young, and all the hormones will be getting you excited and things, but seriously forget about it. If he hasn't acted on his feelings then its waste of time thinking about it.
It seems pretty normal to me anyway, and as you progress up your school career, the older you get the more likely you are to be friends with your teachers-at uni you can eat lunch with them at times!
Also-isn't it the school holidays now? It is in most places, so why worry?

Hi. Soo I Need To Get My Mind Off Something (Annoying Subject) And I Can't Seem To. Any Suggestions.? Thanks.!
The best way is to think about it.
Research has been carried out that shows the more you think about trying to not think of something, the more you actually think about it.
Research:the ironic processes of cognitive control experiment.
The best way is to think about it, but do not attach it to any feeling or emotion, and the thought will soon pass.

I've been having anxiety/panic attacks lately and I hate it... How can I get rid of it? I heard that you can make it go away from getting your mind off of it, but I can't think of anything to do.
I've tried breathing slowly and it's not working. Please help as soon as you can, please. Thank you.
Breathe into a paper bag.
Its horrible, I know-I have had one. You need to remind yourself that panic attacks do not last forever.
This is what is going to help it to go away. Tell yourself this: panic attacks are there to keep me safe. It may feel like I am dying, or that I am in danger, but actually, nothing is going to happen.
When you breathe, you need to concerntrate on the breathing OUT. Breathe in abit (not to hyperventilate) but breathe out in a BIG SIGH for even longer than that. Repeat as many times as you like.
When your panic attack is over, try to meditate using 'mindfulness'. This is something we all need to do everyday-relax, else it can manifest itself as you and I have found.
But the main thing to remember is to go with the flow. All what has happened is the adrenaline has rushed to your head. You can regain control of the situation by telling yourself that it is a perfectly natural and normal human response, and that although you feel disgusting now, it will be over soon-they only tend to last for 20 mins max.
Lie down when you're having one/feel that dizzy feeling when you're about to have one. If you're with someone, tell them before it gets bad 'panick attack'.
For people who have never seen anyone have a panick attack before, they'll be like all panicky and worried themself. This is the last thing you need.
Get a cold flannel round your forhead if you're hot, get as much ventilation in the room as posssible, and close your eye, focusing on your breathing.
Breathe in calm and out smoke clouds. Look up the buzzing bees of worry analagy next time you're having one.
Sorry this advice was so long, but I know EXACTLY how you feel. You end up being fearful of the places that caused your panic attack right?
Need any more help inbox me :)

hi.im 15,f. I hate my country and my town and im to another country next year, but i feel like i cant go on even for an year here anymore, and school,i dont want to go,its a lovely school, but i dont want to see those people,i want to away and never come back, but that cant happen so i have to find a way to keep myself busy from september to may, thats 9 months.i need a hobby,or a couple, something to occupy me.im starting swimming and a new language, but i need more stuff, any advice?
Start volunteering.
Its the most rewarding thing you'll ever do. I have 5 voluntary jobs as well as a proper paid job-I love it that much!
You get to meet new friends, interact with like minded people and help those less fortunate than yourself.
If anything it will make you appreciate what you do actually have.
Try to teach your self 'positive thinking'. You'll have a better state of mind.

so dont judge me please because I just want to break my wrist so that hopefully that pain will stop me from cutting for a while. 14/ f by the way.. and so i want to know some ways that i can break my wrist! Please help!!
You rated my advice as a 1, as suspected.
You can kill yourself by cutting. Blood contains heamoglobin. This is oxygen. Lose to much of this and you die.
If you therefore think this is STILL an acceptable way to go on and live your life-then you do indeed need a counselor.
Please do not ask silly questions that no one will tell you the answer to. Advisors are intelligent people, who don't like their time to be wasted

Hey everyone, I have never posted anything but a question before, but in this case I just want to make a public announcement to all of advicenators- I don't know if everyone who gives advice realizes how much they are appreciated. As I have experience needing advice, I have found that many advice givers on here can be more insightful than some of my closest friends. Sometimes it's the perspective of an outside advice giver that really makes all the difference. So thank you on behalf of me and the rest of the question askers! I couldn't be more thankful for the great advice I receive!!!
Its nice of you to write this!
The people on here who give advice (such as myself regularly) do it because we like to help people.
Occasionally it gets you down if people start to rate your advice as a 1 or 2 when you took time out of your day to answer their question.
Thanks :)

You're 10-you shouldn't be thinking of this sort of thing. Unless you want to be a parent by the time you're 16.

can you take 2 pills at the same time if you missed it the day before
No.
I don't think you need a lecture on sex education-clearly you're aware of contraceptives out there!
If you read the instruction leaflet in the packet, it says not to do this.
I was always missing them to begin with. If you forget because you're very busy, then make it part of your routine. Put them next to your hairbrush at night, so when you need to use your brush in the morning you'll be like PILL!

i was wondering when people buy cds why do they only intend to listen to the songs that were played on the radio instead of giving the ones that were not a chance as for me when i buy cds i listen to the ones on the radio and the give the ones that were not a chance
People tend to do this if they're unfamiliar with the artist.
I'm a radio presenter and I do this all the time, but give the others a go when I'm busy, like tidying up etc, and I'll be like "that was good".
This doesn't happen as much now with downloads, people can just buy that one song off the radio that they like.
However, with fandoms like Beliebers and directioners, they will buy the CD and listen to all the songs.
I think to answer your question, its because most people these days have hectic/busy lifestyles, so simply do not have time to sit back and appreciate new music and give it a go. So they just stick to what they know because its more convenient and cheaper :)

can you be born with an std
You can if its HIV, it can pass on, many poor kids in Africa have this issue.
You can, but it depends on the STD, obviously some can only be transmitted from having sex, and others can be transmitted from touching needles that release it into the bloodstream.

Should I wait to get my books until after the first day of classes or should I go ahead and get them? My parents say that I should wait, but I'm not really liking the idea of walking into class the first day unprepared. Will the books be sold out if I wait to buy my books?
You should wait. The books wont be sold out, as Amazon always replenish stocks.
People may tell you not to wait, but I know from experience-I'm 18.
If you don't know EXACTLY what syllabus you're on, then wait else it'd be a waste of money.
For example some syllabuses come with different editions and specifications, and its next to impossible to know what your teacher has decided before you start college.
Its rare people do this aswell, look around on the first day and everyone will also be waiting.
I admire you for wanting to be organised though, but just by the staple items you are 100% sure you'll need, pens, books etc. This is an end of August job, enjoy your holiday for now!

I'm 13, whenever I drink redbull I start feeling sick, not straight away though, like a hour later but its like hectic nausea. Can it be the redbull? And if so why? I drink it a lot so its not like my bodys not used to it.
Red bull is full of caffeine. If you intake too much caffeine it can make you dehydrated, extremely tired after the effects wear off and yes, sick.

My ways of coping w/sadness have never really been healthy. Self-harm was a part of my life for 3 years & the last time was 4 months ago. I don't have much desire to do it again because I don't feel it has the same affect on me anymore. About a year ago I began praying & trying to put my life in Gods hands & I feel I've built a strong relationship w/God I feel I've gained a lot of hope/faith from it, but when I'm sad I feel I become a completely different person I become so angry & feel so helpless & all I do is cry & feel like dying after I've taken some time to calm down those feelings subside. I'm just afraid I won't give myself some time to calm down & I'll end up acting on those feelings... need advice :)
Thank you! any advice is very much appreciated :)
Hey!
A year ago exactly now I needed to find ways to cope with my anxiety which was causing me panic attacks.
What was recommended to me was meditation.
Try this http://bemindful.co.uk/
It doesn't take much effort, and there is no right or wrong way to do it.
What you also need to recognise is thoughts are just thoughts. You can think them, but acknowledge them and let them leave your head again.
Its abit like when you think you're going to cry. If you recognise that it is an emotion and it is there, without the need to act on it, then it actually stops you from crying.
If praying works for you then thats great-everyone has different coping strategies. But praying is a form of meditation, which is why meditation should work for you.
The truth is, we could all do with meditating every day, but only few do it, because they can recognise the importance of it.7
Those who do it will always be much more stronger and succesful people, because they are in tune with their own feelings and have strong control over their thoughts.
Remember, you can't manage emotions but you can manage thoughts that can lead to actions. Also, nothing lasts forever, and in time all these negative thoughts will subside. Your future is bright :) Take care

I live in Florida and I have become increasingly aroused by my dog. I have let him lick me a couple of times and really enjoyed it.
The other day my bff found out and told me it is disgusting and I could go to jail. First off, it is all over the internet and many people enjoy the company of animals. Gayness is disgusting to some, but makes others happy. Same applies here. What concerns me is that it may be illegal. I have searched and searched but have found conflicting results. I really enjoy what I am doing and don't want to stop. Please Help. Is it legal in Florida? Thanks XoXo
You are an animal abuser and homophobic, so why should I help you?

I'm a 13-year-old girl, and I started cutting myself in December. My mom found out and tried to help, but she only made things worse for me.
After a few months, I managed to stop by myself, and everyone thought I would never do it again. But I started cutting again in June because I have been really sad and stressed out for several different reasons.
There is only one adult who knows that I still cut myself, and I love her more than anything in the whole world. I used to be able to see her in person and talk to her about anything, but now I only get to talk to her through letters. She told me a while ago that I need to tell my therapist I'm cutting. Honestly, I would tell my therapist, but I know he would tell my mom that I'm hurting myself. I know from experience that my mom will only make things worse for me if she finds out.
I don't know how to stop cutting. It feels like there is nothing else I can do to express myself. I can't really tell anyone else about it, because I know they would make things worse! If you have any advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
I'm not sure you're fully aware of the dangers of cutting. It can rupture vital veins that deliver blood to the arteries etc, which can kill you.
Also, if you are cutting to the extent of loosing blood, you're losing heamoglobin (which carries oxygen around the body) and lack of oxygen can damage vital organs.
I, like everyone on this site, is not a doctor. But, it seems to me that you have an anxiety disorder. Its easy to jump to 'depression', but the part when you said 'control' sounds like me a year ago. It also sounds abit like OCD.
This is particulaly interesting because anxiety only really manifests itself when you're 16-so this is abit early.
You need to stop cutting. I know its difficult because its become routine but the scars will stay with you for life.
I have a feeling you're cutting because you can't get help. You can't get help without your mum knowing, so you feel out of control. To regain this control, you cut. Its almost like a cry for help.
I don't see why you don't want your mum to help you. Is it that you fear her being upset and a disappointment? Its such a shame you're so young, but there still is help out there.
First of all, you could do with talking to someone on the telephone. Here in Britain we have the samaritons. Hopefully someone else who answers this can give you the name of similar helplines in America.
You see, the only thing I can do thousands of miles away via a computer screen is tell you to tell someone. Have you considered telling your therapist not to tell your mum?
When I told my therapist, I said not to tell her because it'd make her upset. And to this day she still does not know.
Remember, nothing lasts forever, but you need help now before this manifests itself into something serious. Control it before it controls you.
