my magazine subscriptions includes Times, Blender, Popular Science, Ellegirl, Bitch and Jane. is Bust or Ms. good and what other magazines do you think are cool? Newsweek is sort of like Times and I don't know if it's worth it to subscribe to that as well.
If you like ElleGirl, you could try CosmoGirl or Seventeen.
And if you're into T.V./movies/music, I would recommend Entertainment Weekly.
Try going to www.magazines.com and browsing around, you'll probably find something you'd like :)
Good luck and I hope I helped!

I was just away all weekend camping with some of my old and new est friends and I got about 50 misquito bites just on my legs. They itch like nobody's bussiness but I don't want to itch them. Does anybody have any remedies for itchiness that actually work? I've already tried the ice cube and rubbing alcohol (as suggested by friends) and, while they work, they hurt lie crazy!
Also, does anybody have any ways to avoid being bitten? I'm not sure if its possible because I wore long pants and a TON of insect repellent, but I'm going back to camp (but a different one) for two weeks in the middle of the summer and don't want to be itchy the whole time!
I use Benadryl on my mosquito bites. I find it helps a lot better than anything else I've tried.
According to my dad, mosquitos hate Vitamin B, so I would recommend going to the drug store and getting a bottle of daily vitamins with at least 100% of your daily value of Vitamin B. Do this soon, and take them EVERY DAY before and while you're there. But you should still use ridiculous amounts of bug spray.
Good luck at camp, and I hope I helped!

Well its summer now. WOOT! But the problem is most of my friends are away at camps or family vacations, etc. I, too, have things to keep me busy (horseback riding, showing, running, drum lessons, camp for two weeks) but not busy enough. I get so bored really easily during the summer because during the school year I'm so busy that I hardly get my homework done and when everything stops, I don't know what to do. So I'm looking for everyone's great boredom busters, please!
-Go swimming! And if you get bored of just floating around, do laps around your pool.
-Read. Go to the library and get lots and lots of books. If you run out of good books to read, go on Advicenators and ask for suggestions :)
-Shopping! If you can walk or take a bus/the subway to any malls, do it! You don't have to buy anything, for most people looking around is just fun.
-If you have a camera, take picures. Take them of yourself, your family, your friends, or just whatever. Some of the best pictures I've ever taken have come out me having nothing better to do.
-Clean out your closet. Try on all your clothes and get rid of what doesn't fit and what you don't like. When you're done, you can either donate all your old clothes to charity or sell that to a used-clothing store.
-Write a poem/song/story or draw! Be creative!
Hope these help, and have a great summer!

Hey, in a few days I am going to Oregon and will be staying in the Portland area for a week. Then I'm going to San Francisco for a week. I was wondering if anyone knows of some interesting things to do in those areas. Like, not the typical tourist stuff. Do they have any music fectivals or concerts? And where are the best places to shop.
By the way, I'm a 15 year old girl if that helps.
thanks.
I don't know really know anything to do in Oregon, but I know a ton about San Francisco.
I don't know any concert venues in San Francisco, but a great place for concerts is the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. You can find tickets for their shows here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/229421
Shopping in San Francisco is GREAT. I would recommend going to Macy's, Urban Outfitters, and H&M- their San Francisco stores are all enormous. You can find H&M on Powell Street or Post Street, Urban Outfitters also on Powell Street, and Macy's is on O'Farrell Street. You could also check out http://www.sanfrancisco.com/shopping/index.shtml
I know that Pier 39 is technically a tourist-y place, but it's still really fun. There's great food, some cool shops, and even a Merry-Go-Round :)
If you can, I would seriously recommend going to Oakland and Berkeley while you're in San Francisco. They have awesome shopping! If you can go to Berkeley, you can just wander around Shattuck Avenue, Bancroft Way, and Telegraph Avenue and you'll find the awesomest stores. There's a really great Urban Outfitters on Bancroft :)
If you get the chance to go to Oakland, you should shop on College Avenue. There's a store there called Crossroads Trading (there's also one on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley) that has the best clothes, some of which are used, at extremely low prices (I got my favorite belt there for $4).
And if you still get bored at any point, there are tons of huge movie theatres in San Francisco :)
I really hope I helped! Good luck, and have an AWESOME time!

hi everyone. im writing a research paper on music and i really really need help making a strong thesis. and im not sure how to exactly write one. if anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it because im extremely confused haha
Think about what you're writing about. The thesis sentence should just sum up your entire paper. For example, if I was writing a paper on why I was awesome, my thesis might be:
"It is undeniable that crack_is_wack is a wonderful person; she is intelligent, beautiful, and incredibly kind."
Then the rest of my paper would be using examples of how I was intelligent, beautiful, and kind, and then in my conclusion I would finish by saying my thesis again, but in different words. For example:
"Crack_is_wack has made a vast difference in the world, and we will all be forever greatful for her sharing her immense brilliance with us all."
Here are two thesises I've written in essays before, just to give you some more examples:
Drummond showed Hillsboro and the world that rather than pick sides in the battle of evolutionism and creationism, or any issue involving conflicting ideas for that matter, they should respect the beliefs that were different from theirs and be open to finding a balance.
Wendell, Virgil, and Maricela all learned to tolerate their unchangeable problems in life when they discovered that although they could not completely change their situations, they could change their outlook on life.
*********
If you still need help, try this website: http://www.indiana.edu/~wts/pamphlets/thesis_statement.shtml
Good luck with your paper, and I hope this helps!

if you could change/improve anyhing about your school, what would it be? im doing this for a research class so responses are appreciated =]
Hmmmm. The main things that I'd like are:
-Better teachers
-Bigger classrooms
-Picnic tables (we have to eat on the ground at a park...ew)
-Bigger lockers
-For candy, soda, and cellphones to be allowed during lunch
-Less strict dresscode (for sunglasses, hats, and ripped jeans to be allowed)
-Better computers
-For music class to be elective
-Less dodgeball in P.E.
Hope these help, and good luck in your class!

my hamster jimmy just died on father day and today i got a new teddy bear hamster and iv never had one befor and i wanna know how to take care of it i also wanna know how old it is and if it help i have a pic of it on my myspace and myspace.com/alleyx69xlol and no im not trying to show off my myspace i just thought it would help if u no what it looked like i would alot like some websites on teddy bear hamster it would also be nice if you could tell me how to groom them and some websites with lists of foods they can and cant eat
First of all, your hamster is really, really cute. For real.
According to about.com, the teddy bear hamster is also called the Syrian or Golden hamster. Here's a site with some good background info about Syrian hamsters: http://exoticpets.about.com/od/hamsters/p/syrianhams.htm
Here is some stuff about general care of hamsters: http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/hamsters/a/hamstercare.htm
This article is about feeding hamsters:
http://exoticpets.about.com/od/hamstersgerbils/a/feedhams.htm
This site is just about Syrian hamsters in general:
http://www.petwebsite.com/hamsters/syrian_hamsters.htm
Here is some more care info specifically about Syrian hamsters:
http://www.hamster-heaven.com/syrians.html
And this last site has some great stuff about pretty much everything to do with Syrian hamsters:
http://www.petplanet.co.uk/petplanet/breeds/Hamster_-_Syrian.htm
I think those sites should definitely tell you what you need. If you still need more information, just google search Syrian Hamster and you'll get a ton of good sites.
Good luck, and I hope I helped!

I had a weird dream one night, that my dad was supposed to have sex with me. I don't know, it was some sort of a medical issue that he needed to. What could this mean???
It probably doesn't mean much. Dreams can just be random snippets of things you've seen, heard, or thought about throughout the day all squished together. Or it could be just your emotions showing up in your mind in different ways. For example, if you felt uncomfortable in this dream, than it could mean that you are uncomfortable talking about sex with your dad.
But if you do think that this dream signified something in a metaphorical way, I went to freakydreams.com and this was their analysis:
Words like sex: Gratification. Pleasure. You want to receive or to give pleasure.
Words like father: Authority. Control. Guidance. Recognition. Happiness. Virtue.
That sounds like a pretty weird dream, but don't get too creeped out about it (I've had weirder dreams, trust me). Hope this helped!

What are some good songs that kind of describe 8th grade graduation? Recent if possible, like the last 10 years or sooner. NOT GRADUATION BY VITAMIN C - too common. Any thing that would have to do with it. Like, describing change, moving on, friends forever, graduation, "i will remmeber you", good times, etc.
Easy Five if you give me good ones.
"Fly Away" by the Black Eyed Peas is good. It's about moving on to better things in life, even thoug h you my have to leave someone you love behind.
You could also try "Such Great Heights" by the Postal Service or the version by Iron & Wine; although they are technically about romantic love, a most of this song could be used to describe a bond between friends. The same thing is true for "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie.
"The New Year" by Death Cab for Cutie is also great. It's actually about New Year's Eve, but it sort of seems graduation-ish.
I hope these help and that you enjoy these!

Hey, I really want to get my ears double pierced but I'm really scared it'll hurt and I'll cry lol. I was about 7ish when I got them pierced for the first time and I cired. And my friend says it doesn't hurt, pintching your ear hurts more then piercing it. So basically does it hurt??
WILL RATE?
I got a double piercing in September, and it did hurt for a while, but after about a day it felt completely fine. Of course, it really does depend on the person and how they handle pain, but for me I was okay.
My advice is about an hour before you get it done is take a Tylenol or an Advil. It really helped me handle it better. It still hurts but it takes the pain down a notch. I would also recommend closing your eyes and thinking hard about something else to distract yourself. (I personally prefer doing multiplication tables in my head).
After you get it done, instead of thinking about it hurting, try to focus on how awesome it looks! Good luck, and I hope this helps :)

what are some REALLY REALLY good books for teen girls. i dont want just a light fluffy book. i want it to have like a really good story n stuff. thanks!
I just got hooked on the author Sarah Dessen. Of her books, I would especially recommend "This Lullabye" and Keeping the Moon." They are fun to read, but they definitely have substance.
Another awesome book is "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. Don't read this unless you're up for something intense; it involves rape and murder.
Hope these help, and enjoy!

My mum told me I'm fat today and I know I am but the way she said it made me feel like I should be anerexic.
She was petit in high school and when she had me she was still relly small. When she had my brother she got ffat but I feel alot of pressure to be thin. This summer I want to go gym like everyday but I don't know how to lay off me...she really bothers me abut my weigh and I will lose it...but in time!!!!!
She makes me feel bad...she actually makes me want to eat!!
You need to talk to your mother about this. It is never okay for a mother to call her child fat. If you really are overweight, she should be helping you and ENCOURAGING you to do so, rather than calling you names. You should tell her that you want to lose weight, but you also need her to stop pressuring you.
If you want to lose weight, do it because you want to be healthy, not look skinny. Don't succumb to any pressure to stop eating or go on a fad diet. Just go to the gym and work out, and cut down on junk food. I'm assuming you're a teenaged girl, so I would recommend the book "The Diet for Teenagers Only" by Barbara Schroeder and Carrie Wiatt if you really want to lose the pounds.

My friend is 13 and ran half a mile in 5 mins and 13 seconds. Is that slow, regular, or fast?
A little bit slower than average for his or her age, but more in the middle.

Hey im trying to write my own songs and i just cant seem to get the "flow" going. And i dont know what to write songs about. I cant get a rhythm of the song either. Or beat even. I know it sounds pathetic but i have no idea where to start! Please help!! I'll rate 5's!!!
One thing to do is listen to your favorite music, and try to get inspired- by the lyrics or the tune. As the person before me said, having a piano or GarageBand really does help with the music part.
As for what to write about, just write about your life. Write about your friendships, write about your love life, write about who you are; you can even write about feeling like there's nothing in your life worth writing about (I did something like that, and I'm actually quite proud of how it turned out). And what you write doesn't even have to be autobiographical- you can write about something that happened to friend, or even something totally made up.
I know how it feels to have writer's block. I think the trick is to just make yourself keep writing, even though it's tempting to just give up and watch T.V. instead.
Good luck, and I'm sure you'll write some awesome songs!
P.S. The person before me mentioned using a rhyming dictionary online- one that I use a lot is www.rhymezone.com. It really helps. :)

hey..i have this boyfriend and he's really cute but i don't really have feelings for him anymore. i mean he's very sweet but like he's moving too fast and it's making me like turned off. and now he's making me feel like he should be my brother. idk what to do anymore! please someone help me!
i'll give 5 for trying..thanx!
As everyone else said, you need to break up iwth him. Being in a relationship with him when you don't have feelings for him is unfair to you and unfair to him. I think you should just tell him that you really care about him, but you can't continue dating him.
Good luck!
:)

hey i have a really big problem, my best friend and my sister in christ broke up with her boyfriend and well, honestly i cant stop thinking about her, shes always on my mind, ive known her for 3 years and we are closer than i have ever been with anyone, ever, we spend so much time together and i cant help it but im always thinking about her and well, i think my head is either messing with me or this is gods way of telling me she is the one. I love her so much as a best friend and a sister in christ, but well, i dunno, please advice, i dont know wat to do anymore its driving me completely insane!!!
Um, it sounds like you have a thing for this girl. If you ask yourself "Is the person The One?" than the answer is yes. And even if she isn't "The One," you still really seem like you have feelings for her. I think you should definitely ask her out on a date.
Good luck, I hope this helps!
