okay well the Laurlene McDaniel books are about teens with terminal illnesses. Suzane Fisher Staples has a series about a teen girl who lives in a desert in Pakistan, the first book is called Shabanu. the second is Haveli. i haven't read the second but the first was awesome. but the best book i have read is called "ROOTS" by Alex Hailey. it is an unbelievable book. it's for someone who is a little more mature, but i read it last year when i was 16.

I like " The Clique" series & the " Gossip Girl" series. The Clique is more of a middle school setting. & Gossip Girl is highschool. They call it " sex and the city for the younger set"

I really enjoy Meg Cabot's books. She has the Princess Diaries series which basically started the Princess Diaries movies.

Teen Idol is also a good book -

High school junior Jenny Greenley is good at solving problems ... so good she's the school newspaper's anonymous advice columnist. Even if solving other people's problems doesn't make her own -- like not having a boyfriend -- go away, it's still fun. But when nineteen-year-old screen sensation Luke Striker comes to Jenny's small town to research a role, he creates havoc that even levelheaded Jenny isn't sure she can repair ... especially since she's right in the middle of it.

All-American Girl is one that I enjoyed a few years ago -

Samantha Madison is just your average disenfranchised sophomore gal living in D.C. when, in an idle moment sandwiched between cookie-buying and CD-perusing, she puts a stop to an attempt on the life of the president. Before she can say "MTV2" she’s appointed Teen Ambassador to the U.N. and has caught the eye of the very cute First Son.

I got the descriptions from megcabot.com

These books aren't very girly, but they're really good reads and they're only like 4-5 hundred pages long so it wont take up all your time. The Da Vinci code, Deception Point, Angels & Demons

I know someone below me said the same thing, but Sarah Dessen books are amazing. I love her. Her stories are really good, and they're all very easy, light, and good reads. I usually don't like to read, but I can stay up until like 4 in the morning reading one of her books.

I just got hooked on the author Sarah Dessen. Of her books, I would especially recommend "This Lullabye" and Keeping the Moon." They are fun to read, but they definitely have substance.

Another awesome book is "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. Don't read this unless you're up for something intense; it involves rape and murder.

Hope these help, and enjoy!

I suggest the Clique Series. I'm not sure if you're into that kind of stuff, but it's definitely for teens. The series is up to date and you can relate to a lot of stuff such as drama, liking boys, backstabbing friends, having cliques, IMs, cell phones, being rich or poor and all of that kind of stuff. I'm not a big reader, but as soon as I picked up one of those books I couldn't put it down. I've only read the first three books in the series, so from what I've read they keep you on the edge of the chair and wanting more.

I would also reccomend the Princess Diaries series. Those are a bit longer and not as "up-to-date" but they are really fun to read. I've read them all and it's difficult to tell you what happens in them without giving it all away so I can't give you much further detail! But heres a website that tells you about some of the books in the series... [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

For more choices, just go to your local library and ask the librarian for suggestions. I told the librarian what kind of books I liked and that's how I started reading The Clique series. And ever since then I've been hooked.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask in my inbox.

~Bella
