The name is Leah. I live in Cincinnati, OH. I really love to give advice! I have been here since November of 2004. But prior to joining here, I was always been seeked for advice. Still to this day, my primary concern is always helping someone out in need.

I am likely not the best columnist here, but I can quarantee I am very dedicated and concerned when I answer a question. If I answer a question you're not satisfied with, I will ask why, so I can try my best to change my answer. I only give people information that I know; not information that I might know. And if I notice a columnist giving you a wrong answer, you'll know I'll be correcting their response!!

I do allow everyone and anyone to ask a question. I may have listed favorite categories, but I really have no preference. I do love making new friends!! It's no problem to contact me by e-mail or IM. I do have a Myspace, and I will gladly give it out if asked! If you ever need advice, if you feel like ending it all, if you feel like no one cares, I am here!! Talk to me.. advice

i have an LG Shine.
i tried setting the security codes on my phone. but it messed up and wont work.

and on my screen it says " PIN Code Blocked."

and it's asking me to put the PUK code in. i cant find the manual book for my phone. so does anyone know what it is?? i've tried using " 0000 " cause i read in my book to do that. but it still didnt work.

this had happened before..and i really cant tell my mom about it. cause she dosent get technology and stuff. and she'd get all mad and confused.

PLEASE HELP.

( i have a go phone plan if that helps.)

Yeah I have been there. Most phone companies will give you the code if you call them and verify your information. Some phone companies will be stubborn and make you go there personally and ask.

I would say call the customer service line to whom you have service with first. I think all LGs are with Verizon I suppose, so contact them.

Hope I helped.

I am 18 years old, and i have been on birth control for like a year & a half. I take the pills everyday and i try to take them around the same time everyday. but lately i have been bleeding even when i take the pills. Im like 3 weeks away from when im supposed to have my period. I am getting really bad cramps..i dont understand why this is happening

Being on birth control for 2 years (but stopped), that is actually very common to bleed between periods. That happened to me often. Sometimes it does depend on what birth control you're on. Are you on a combination pill, or a single hormone pill? I know single hormone pills can do that to you (like estrogen/estradol).

I would say give it a few months, and if you're still experiencing bleeding I would go to the Physician that described it to you and they can put you on a different contraceptive.

I was recently started on Yaz birth control about a month ago. I did not have bad acne, an occasion pimple every now and then. After being put on the pill, my face is excessively oily and breaking out often. I thought the pill cleared up acne. Should I expect this to just calm down eventually?

Honestly, I have been on Yaz as well and experienced the same thing. Also, I read on many websites that Yaz was known (as the opposite side effect) to just worsen acne first time around.

All birth controls for the first few months are horrible. Your hormones are shifting around to get used to the pill. Some medications will make symptoms worse in order to reduce the symptoms.

Give it a few months. Like the previous columnist said, if it persists or gets worse, see the Doctor whom prescribed it to you and can change your birth control method that is also known to help acne.

I hope I helped and good luck.

Heres a link to my question you answered for me
eariler.

Been on my period since I was 9,Im 15. It comes the same time everymonth, but its just weird. Had sex on the 2nd to last day of my period. So theres not a hugh chance, thats kinda what your talking about when you say " later on your period",right?

Thanks ;)

Yes, since you'd be almost done with it your chances of being pregnant are small since your egg probably deteriorated by now.

Hi there, quick question about what actually happens at a gyno. app. it'll be my first time going, and ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you im the worst person when it comes to being around doc. espically ones who have to touch me, so could you please tell me if there's ways to get relaxed before and during the procedure and what actually happens.THNX

I've been to a gynecologist way too many times. I do know your first time you will be very nervous and just anxious.

A lot of practices will mail you a long as hell questionnaire about your medical history, symptoms, personal information, employment, school - everything. Or, they'll hand it to you at your appointment. Fill it out thoroughly.

Then, they'll ask you a series of questions and go over your questionnaire. They may also record your weight, height, do a sample urine test, and check your blood pressure.

So you'll be admitted into the room to discuss results. If you are 21 and un-sexually active, or sexually active, they'll tell you to do a papsmear. These things put a lot of pressure against your vagina, but it's quick. They will get a sample, and tell you your results within a week or two.

If no papsmear, they will discuss about your health and talk about any changes or medications you may have to take.

I hope I helped and good luck!

I just got a female dwarf hamster on Monday, and have done pretty much everything so far.

Yesterday I noticed her left eye was shut a little bit, but I picked her up and she was fine and opened it. However, today I just got in from dinner, and her left eye was closed again. Her right eye is fine, it's just her left eye is closed.

I went on some sites and they said her eye could be irritated from dust and other contributes. I tried to wipe her eye with a warm washcloth like it said but she would nip at me and go back to her spot.

I'm going to call the vet right now and leave a message since it's 9:50 at night and I know she won't be in. Does anyone know anything else I can try to do? I'm going to keep trying to do everything I can to help my hamster until the vet calls me.

I'm just worried about my hamster and I don't want anything bad to happen to her. Thanks.

Ohh I know how that is.. I have had a dwarf hamster before. Those things are so snippy!

My dwarf hamster did that, too. You are doing the right thing of putting a warm wash cloth on it. Yes, it can be dust, and it can even be urine. Dwarf hamsters like to hang out in their urine sometimes and gets it in their eye. Gross, I know.

You should try cleaning out the cage, and use dust free sheddings. It's maybe a dollar or two more but it will help prevent any kind of allergic reactions or irritations.

Dwarf hamsters are so adorable! They're sneaky little critters too. Well good luck on your hamster!

Are you more likly to get pregnant when your on your period then when off it?

My period is really crazy.
I start&&then have it for 2days.
Then I stop but the last 1or2, of the 7 days, I start again but not really enough that I would coinsider a "period". Its more like spotting.
Does that change anything?

Srry but I thought I was off my period
when I had sex but its soo weird that I was wrong.
;/

BTW
Its been like that for Years!! I dont think theres anything wrong with me if its like that..right?

Thanks

"Just ask me" is wrong. At the beginning of your period you are most fertile because the egg hasn't deteriorated yet. Later on in your period that's when you're not fertile. I know this because I am an undergraduate medical student.

To explain your irregular symptoms, I would go see a gynecologist. They can offer you plans to change diet and exercise, take vitamin supplements, or take an oral contraceptive such as Loestrin or Femcon FE or something. You don't specify an age but teenagers are more likely to have irregular periods than adults; even if it's been going on for years.

I hope I helped.

hey i am a JV cheerleader who will have to make varsity next yeear, i am a flyer and i weigh 107 pounds and i am 5'4.. is that good for a flyer, or too heavy?
ive been working on stretching and stuff.
i dont want them to switch my position.

107 lb is the ideal weight for someone of your height. You're in the perfect weight range.

No way you're heavy. But keep exercising and practicing.

Good luck.

Hi,

The only time I have had sex in the past few months (so to conceivably be pregnant and not be showing) was about five weeks ago. There was no condom used but I'm on the pill and take it correctly.

Three weeks later I had my period but it lasted less than 24 hours when normally it lasts at least 3 days, this is by far the shortest period I have ever had. It wasn't just vague spotting, it was quite heavy, but it ended really quickly.

Shortly after that I got a really bad chest infection and have been quite ill, I was in hospital for a couple of days at one point and had to miss one of my exams. All over this time I have been incredibly tired. Now I am getting persistent stomach ache, and a really weird ache in my lower back, kind of like when you are on your period except my next period isn't due for 2 weeks.

Do you think it's worth taking a test now, or should I wait until my next period? Normally I wouldn't be this paranoid, but it's the incredibly short period of last time that's freaking me out a bit!

Thanks

From experience of being sexually active, having pregnancy scares, and being on birth control, I can honestly see how you can be freaking out.

Foremost, spotting can mean any kind of amount of blood - light or heavy - at any time. It can last for a few hours, or it may last for months - it always varies.

Common birth control symptoms are fatigue, body aches, moodiness, change of appetite, nausea, weight gain or loss, and others. Sometimes you won't get them when you start birth control yet may start up randomy after taking them for awhile.

Birth control also is known to skip periods as well. There may be some months you just don't get a period. They say if you get no period after 3 months while on the pill, see a Doctor.

There is one other form of bleeding: implantation bleeding. It's when you bleed once a fertilized egg has been attached to your uterine lining. But usually this takes less than 3 weeks to happen. They say at most two weeks. Although it can be possible still, so you may take a pregnancy test. I would honestly say wait another week or two. If there is no period, then take a test.

I hope I helped. And good luck.

for an exam i have to design a quiz like 'who wants to be a millionaire'
The show has to be educational, appealing and most of all fun!
I need good ideas for the set design, the question format, prizes and scheduling.

This is king of urgent please help

Just like you see on the show, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," set up your game show with two chairs, and have a table set in front of you, like a presentation booth, so your contestant can't see the answers. Design your list of questions with money rewards, have your help options such as 50/50, phone a friend, ask the audience, double dip, skip a question (which appears later on in the game), or create your own options.

And to spice it up more, create a CD containing the music in the show, and have someone control the sounds during the game. Or make it amusing by someone producing the sounds.

You can build the suspense by emphasizing on the questions, and delay saying the answer. That's a huge kicker in the show! And when you get at a certain point, jokingly say you are going on commercial break before saying the answer to the question. That would be amusing.

I hope I helped =]

Hello everyone i am kinda young im Ten years old and i need your help. I am getting white discharge, tummy cramps, moody, sleepy, and my brest are kinda tender. Are these simtoms of getting my period i need to know so i can be prepaired.
Thank you For Your Help Love,Gam906e

Yes, they do sound like the symptoms. When you are starting puberty, you know that breasts will start to grow, hair will grow in the pubic region, your body will shape a bit, and you'll get taller.

Now, there is ever no guarantee of signs you'll start your period.

1)You'll develop a creamy white discharge.
2)Abdominal pain
3)Moodiness, fatigue, change of appetite
4)Tenderness/soreness of the breasts
5)Bloating (water retention)
6)Nausea

It seems like your period is near, but no one can be 100% sure. I do remember having those symptoms at your age and 2 weeks later my period popped up. So be prepared, bring a pad around with you and some Midol.

Okay, so I'm supposed to start taking my borth control on sunday. It's the ortho evra patch and I was just wondering if its like a nicotene patch in the way that it makes that part of your body feel sore?

I am not very educated with patches but I do know common side effects of patches would be soreness and redness of the area it was applied, as well as nausea and dry mouth -- the usual.

Hope I helped.

I'm going to ask as simple as possible, haha. Basically I have to dye my hair black to cover some missed spots. I need to use a red tint though, because there are green tones in my hair currently.

Should I dye my hair black THEN add the red, or should I add the red now, THEN do the black? (It's already black.)

I've never had such a bad hair dye job and right now it's pretty terrible. There's spots missing and it's tinted green. I'm sure you can imagine, haha. Thanks a lot for your time!

Dyeing hair is so complicated, isn't it?

Personally, I would first add the black hair dye. Leave it in for a decent amount of time as they suggest on the box.

Next, you can use red dye products out there. You can do it immediately after dyeing your hair black but, be very careful b/c too much ammonia can damage hair horribly.

I can assume you want a dark auburn look? Since it's a mixture of black and red. They have dark auburn dye out there if that's what you are looking for.

Professionally, prices vary. It's not a fixed price of 30 dollars; people have different prices. They'll do it all for you without extensively damaging hair like at home.

I offered both suggestions since I don't know your preference of doing it at home or at a salon.

I hope I helped.

I have very damaged hair. On the sides it is only one fourth of an inch long. I am goin to relax it soon and I want to know how to protect it when getting it. I was thinking about cutting all of the damage off but i do not know if i should. My hair is really dry (and ends) and breaks when i comb, wash, and even run a hand through it. When i see other relaxed hair, it is moisterized and mine is not.

- Also can anyone recommend products that would help (no greasy or heavy thing that will break my hair more). I haven't had long hair for six years and i really do want it again.

My hair used to be like that, too. I do have some helpful advice for that.

Since your hair is damaged, I would foremost prefer a trim (not a hair cut). A trim will cut an inch or two off to get rid of split ends. A barber/hair salon can also put in some light conditioner to put in your hair to leave in for awhile to richly moisturize it and relax it.

Next, your weakening hair could either be a sign of malnutrition in the hair, scalp, and body. Try going to a grocery/drug store and pick up some skin care vitamins. These help hair, skin, and nails. Also, for the weak hair, use pantine pro v shampoo. Use it every day; rinse, lather, and repeat. Afterwards, apply their conditioner lightly. Put an amount the size of your thumb, and thoroughly rub it in the hair, and leave it in. No, this will not make your hair look or feel oily and greasy. This small amount will only moisturize and relax hair. I know, because I do this.

To be honest, for the best results I would do all of this for about 2 weeks (General rule is 10 days), then you're ready to proceed to getting it straightened. You can do it now, but your hair will look volumized and rough. I am sure you don't want that. I'd hate for you to waste money on that.

It's just like a diet. To fit into your swimsuit you first need to plan ahead to take care of yourself by changing your diet. I am not implying you're unhealthy - My point is to prepare your hair prior to the straightening.

Recommended products I like would be garnier fructise and pantine pro v. If you're on a tight budget.. well fortunately you have suave professionals that do just as well as professional hair products you get from a salon, at a cheaper price.

Also, I use this brush by conair that contains minerals in the bristles to soften hair as you brush. I paid 4 dollars for it but it works.

For added comfort I know what you're going through. In the past, I had rough, frizzy, poofy, damaged hair to the point where I couldn't do anything with it. But now I am able to control it by taking care of my hair daily. Like everyone else, you'll have your bad hair days, but taking care of your hair makes you look and feel so much better!

I hope I helped =].

Okay... so my breasts hurt really really bad normally about a week before I start my period... I should start my period sometime this week and they don't hurt hardly at all..... I had sex a day after i got off my period but we used a condom(didn't break), he did not cum inside me, and we used spermicidal lube.... should i be worried at all????

No, don't be worried at all. Sore breasts are normal when you are about to start your period. I get those all the time. However, if they start hurting bad to the point where you can't stand it I would go see a Doctor.

For the sex part I wouldn't be worried or concerned at all. You said you used a condom that didn't break, no sight of cum (when there's still a possibility of pre cum), and spermicides. Plus you said you had sex the day after you get off your period. Well, your ovulation restarts and the egg is still in the fallopian tube, just getting out of the ovary - very unlikely to get pregnant.

I hope I helped.

So I'm 19 and have been very happily married for nearly a year. My husband and I are both in college and living on our own. I desperately want a baby. I know how hard it is, I raised my younger brother on my own for two years while in highschool. I know that it is terribly expensive, I know it is taxing emotionally and physically and in more ways than imaginable. I know it would mess with school and our plans and everything but the non logical half of me is completely going nuts over it.

Many people are just telling us to go for it and that things will work themselves out as we go along. A few people think I'm completely insane for even considering it.

I just don't know what to do, I've tried adopting far too many hobbies to get rid of this obsession. I can't get a pet because of our landlord.

I just need to know if I should go for it, or if I should keep trying to fight it. And if I should fight it, how?

In my opinion, go for it!

You are fully aware there will be financial and emotional obstacles on the way when caring for a child. It's also important that you're able to afford it, too.

Make sure you have a decent home, you two are in a stable relationship, and you're receiving enough income to care for a child. If so, there's nothing wrong with having a kid. To point is as long as you have what it takes, then what's stopping you?

I wouldn't think you're insane. Children are a blessing. I would certainly love to have kids soon as well and I am your age.

So go for it! I wish you luck.

Okay.

so i have a windows 98 computer, and sometimes when i try to login to my myspace, this deal will pop up saying that something is illegal.

does anyone know what it is.?

there is nothing illegal on my myspace because i get on it on different computers.

i think that it is the computer.
but what can i do to get rid of it.?

please help me..

:))

I don't know a whole lot about computers, except the basics. Well I have questions about this...
1) Does this pop-up prevent you from logging in?
2) Does the pop-up only come up on myspace?
3) What does it exactly say on the pop-up?

Of the information given, I could say it's adware. To remove adware, you'd need an antivirus program. You have mcafee, norton, and others. Scanning for viruses such as adware, spyware, or trojans are free to you, however to remove them will cost you. I'd say if no antivirus program on your computer, I would highly suggest getting one asap.

If you'd like, you can tell me more info about this so I can help you out more. But if that's it I hope I helped. =]

I'm 19 years old, female... and out of a job right now. I don't have a car or my license yet, so it's really hard for me to get around unless a friend's around... I plan to go for mine soon but while I'm waiting to do so, and waiting to hear from other jobs, I'd just like to say I'm going COMPLETELY INSANE being stuck in the house.

It's not even just going out with friends that I need to do... I feel I need to do something productive before I go even more insane. lol

So any ideas of what I can do that can be more productive? I've read, written, tried to research things that interest me, taken walks, everything. Any ideas that aren't so mundane?

thank you!

I know exactly how you feel! Wow, I am 19 and unemployed too. Well, I usually spend time doing college. I love it; it's fun. Have you tried enrolling in school for something you might enjoy? Hopefully it will be an option for you. On boring days, I'll study or go to class.. it's something to do. There are online schools and on-campus schools you can try - whatever works best for you.

And googling things to do doesn't always work. What I also do is go out and just start applying for jobs. Send them all in. From 8 am to 5 pm do nothing but merely go job hunting. And be assertive.. the next day, call them about interviewing you. And no car.. I would recommend taking the bus. Buses are there. I hate them but sometimes they're necessary. They're cheaper than car transportation anyway. And would you know a relative that would help out? Or a well-known neighbor? Give them a call and ask.

Also, what is something that you enjoy doing? Babysitting, cleaning homes, house sitting, dog walking - whatever. Put up ads around your town to advertise finding a hobby. Or, try craigslist.com (it's free posting ads), or your local newspaper, which usually costs a couple dollars.

I hope I helped, and I hope you find something soon =]

I have always had an irregular period, so recently I went on the pill to regulate it better. Everything was going smoothly until just a couple weeks ago when I started some light bleeding, and I figured I was just spotting. After a few days it had turned into my period though, and it was constant bleeding for two weeks. Also, sometimes the blood would come out in small clots, and now it's becoming more like bloody discharge. How long am I going to have to deal with this? I don't want to keep having super-long periods because it is a pain, so what is a solution?

I was put on birth control for two years. So here is what is most likely happening. Usually doing the first three months you'll still have irregular periods. You'll have spotting all month long, and some days will be light; and some days will be heavy. Birth control takes at least 3 months to fully kick in and regulate periods. If however, it's been over 3 months, contact the doctor who prescribed it to you. They may recommend putting you on a different birth control.

What does it mean when you go poop and you see blood come out to?

I previously answered a question like this before. View it here:
http://www.advicenators.com/qview.php?q=562312

I have 3 guesses here.

The first one would probably be, when you do poop, does it hurt? If so, it could be the poop damaging tissue in the rectum or anal area, causing it to bleed. A little bleeding is common. This happens to everyone occasionally. But if you're saying you're bleeding a lot, that's a problem.

Another one could mean any kind of internal bleeding. However, unlike the first guess, this is an every day thing. You bleed every time you urinate or excrete solid wastes.

A third one can be hemorrhoids. This is quite painful. When you do poop, it hurts, and some blood comes out. Similar to the first guess.
More information regarding rectal bleeding can be found here:
http://www.medicinenet.com/rectal_bleeding/article.htm

It's very important that if you are losing a lot of blood, to the point where your toilet is a darker (maroon) red, and you feel fatigue, dizziness, or loss of balance, or nausea, call 911 immediately!!

I hope I helped.
