Tomorrow I have to get my first cavity done.. ever! I'm so scared because I know they have to numb your mouth with novocaine by putting a needle through your gum! I have such a fear of needles or anythign sharp but I still have to get this done. Does the shot really hurt that much? What can I compare the pain too! Thank you
no, it really doesn't hurt that much... if at all! i barely even notice when they do it. most of the time they'll let you listen to music (at least, at my dentist) or you can probably bring a portable cd player or mp3 player to take your mind off of it. you won't be in much pain at all. they might even give you a little cup of numbing stuff to drink like 30 minutes before you even sit down in the dentist chair! so with that and the fact that it's just a tiny little bit of pressure you feel on your gums, you're not going to be in much pain at all. and if they give you laughing gas, you're going to be too goofy to notice much of anything! it'll go by really fast and soon enough it'll all be done with.
14/f i play music (sing & play guitar/piano) and lots of it i would call country music. most kids hate country music, i know! but i love it. i really want to have a carreer in music but i don't want all my friends and people i know to be hating the type of music i play. should i just go for it or should i change my style a little, more pop or rock or something? please tell me your thoughts on any of this. thank you! i rate
Don't change just because people want you to. And I'm not quoting textbooks here, I'm quoting my life. I'm a musician, too. I'm a pianist, guitarist, saxophonist... you name it, I play it. I'm 15 and female, yet I don't listen to ANY popular music. I just don't like it. I listen to the blues. Muddy Waters, Albert Collins, B.B. King, SRV, Freddie King, Albert King, Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson... they're all my favorites. However, all of my friends listen to rap and/or Christian rock. And I'm just not into that crap. My friends and I are all musicians, but we sort of agree to disagree when it comes to music. They think I'm really weird for playing the blues, but they still support me because they know that I love it and that that's what I would love to do with my life (play organ/piano with a blues band). Anyway, GO FOR IT. I was actually thinking about this today... how can you play the music if it's not something that you really love? If you love country music, then play country music. It's as simple as that. Even though you might think that the world hates country music, there is going to be somebody out there that completely digs what you're putting out. In fact, I had thought that I was the only 15 year old that loved the blues, but then I met all these people online that were my age and listened to the same music. Heck, I even have a friend that just put a CD out... blues, of course. So no matter how much your friends and family drive you nuts with their complaining, there is ALWAYS going to be somebody out there that will love your music. And this is how I see it: it doesn't matter what other people think as long as you're doing what you love most. The sky's the limit.
I was looking for a certain kind of acoustic guitar. I found what i wanted in a Takamine guitar, but it was like $900. For anyone who knows guitars, can i find these things in a guitar for under $400? Or find a Takamine guitar cheap?

If you're lucky, you'll be able to find one. Check ebay, Guitar Center magazine or website, Musician's Friend magazine or website, and any local music stores you might have in your area. It might also be a good idea to check the classifieds. I don't know how successful that will be because the classifieds in my town really suck, but you might get lucky. I would advise going to a music store and just trying out their guitars that may be similar to the Takamine (I'm not too terribly familiar with Takamine... I'm a Fender girl). You might even like those better! But since you're looking for such a bargain, be prepared to search high and low for a good guitar... and when you find it, you'll be glad you put that much effort into it :) Good luck!

The O.C. normally comes out on DVD in October... usually. You might want to check to see if BestBuy.com has a release date on it. I'm waiting on it too because I keep forgetting to watch it every Thursday and I missed like 8 episodes this season. As I recall, the release date for previous episodes has been in October.
im 13/f and whenever i go swimmin i get a little darker and i like my skin tone the way it is how do i go swimmin and still not get a tan?
you could get some high SPF sunscreen (make sure it's waterproof!) if you get a high enough SPF... over 30 or 45... then you shouldn't tan. at least, that's been my experience... but i never really tan anyway! try it out :)
so ive been dating a guy for a couple months and he just recently said something really mean to my friend while she was working causing her to run of work bawling. i dont want a guy that talks shit to my friends. is it wrong to break up with him for it? please answer..
i would break up with him. after all, talking crap to my friends is pretty much the same as talking crap to me. however, that's just my opinion. did he really mean harm to her? or did he not mean to hurt her like that? i would talk to him about it. if he sincerely regrets it, then i would try to move past it and try to make things allright with the best friend. however, if he doesn't seem phased that you're upset, then i would break up with him. if he goes around talking crap to your friends on purpose, he's not worth your time... plain and simple truth.
Im 5'8" ish.. and i LOVEE high heels.. but i never buy or wear them because i feel so HUGE with them on.. im only 16 and i dont want to be intimidating (especially to boys!) Do guys find tall women attractive or do they prefer shorter (5'5", 5'6") more attractive? By the way..the way to describe my body is muscular.. my thighs are really toned and im about 151 lbs. Oh, and i have big boobs. Should i stick to flip flops or go with high heel strappy sandals which id LOVE to wear and feel confident!?
Most girls would kill to have your height. I know that I would! Take advantage of your height. Guys find all women attractive, so your height doesn't matter. Of course, all guys are different. Anyway, go for the high heels- you have nothing to lose and you obviously want to wear them!

Of course. If you look away the whole time you're talking, then you seem uninterested (at least in my opinion). But don't stare her down. Just be sure to make eye contact :)
Is running a half a mile in 4 mins and 43 seconds fast regular or slow?
i'd say it's on the regular-to-slow side. most people run 8 or 9 minute miles, so you're a little under them. keep practicing :)
Ok, when I take a shower, my hair would be nice and thin. But then after a while, when my hair gets dry, it gets poofy and thick.
I want to know, is there any ways I can keep my hair the way it is when I come out of the shower, but dry.
Any tips? Amy steps? Any conditionor or hair products that are not that expensive, and really works?

it always helps me to rinse the conditioner out of my hair with cold water. after that, i put infusium 23 leave-in conditioner in after towel drying. then i blow-dry it halfway dry on the warm or low setting, and then i finish drying it on the cool setting. it works wonders. try it sometime. normally my hair is a frizzball, but it looks silky and smooth after i do that. a good thing about that is that it doesn't take very long for me (i have thick/fine below shoulder-length hair).
I want to join the flag twirlers team. Sorry, i cant remembe exactly what it is called, but i know that it starts with a "c."
I just wanted to know if they were considered like unpopular, or are they more like cheerleaders?
Also, is it hard to be a flag twirler?

it's called color guard (but other people have told you that). at our high school, we are a military marching band, not a corps band. we have an auxiliary line which consists of baton twirlers and flag twirlers. when marching, they kind of lead the band, but not as much as a drum major, who is normally a twirler as well. the auxiliary line isn't quite the same as cheerleaders at my school, but they definitely have more talent! they are normally friends with everybody and sort of popular because they are always involved with school activities (it's a rule that they have to be to maintain their status on the line) and stuff like that. as far as the difficulty level... it's hard to say. i've tried baton twirling and flag twirling, but it's not my forte because i'm not a dancer. if you have ever taken a dance class in your life, you should be able to do it. all it takes is practice. you might want to call a member of the color guard at your school and see if they can give you private lessons. that's how all my friends learned how to twirl a flag/baton. but beware, it takes a lot... and i mean A LOT of hard work. the schedule in marching season for twirlers consists of: monday practice, monday night marching practice, tuesday practice, thursday practice, friday pep rallies, friday football games. it's a lot of work, but if you set your mind to it, you'll have no problem on the color guard.

i love the princess diaries series. any of meg cabots books, actually. she also wrote the all-american girl books and the mediator series (which i am in the middle of... very good books). also, the clique series is one of my favorites. i've heard that the gossip girl series is a good one but have yet to read it. there's also the sisterhood of the traveling pants series... i think there's three of those books, and they are very good. those are all teen books, but if you like historical fiction, check out philippa gregory's books. she wrote the other boleyn girl and the queen's fool, both of which were awesome. if you have a chance, you should definitely read gregory maguire's books- wicked, confessions of an ugly stepsister, mirror mirror, son of a witch... any of those. if you're into sci-fi and spy books, you might want to try out the alex rider series or artemis fowl. well, those are some of my favorites. :)

my best friend was baton twirling the other day and caught her baton with her face on accident. it made her braces cut into her lip and it was really bad. she used oragel (sp?)
im getting a new cell phones & switching plans, i really like the slider phones..but someone told me everytime u slide it the buttons get messed up after a while, could anyone tell me if this is true..i was even thinkin bout gettin a razr but i aint sure yet
my friend's sister had a slider phone. well, several, actually. they broke so often that she went through SIX in SIX MONTHS. and another friend has a slider phone, but it is the crappiest thing ever. believe me, they look cool but they really suck. i have a razr and could not be happier with it.
Hi, I have a question about my shoulder.
I have this weird blue dot and it sticks out a little. Is this a pimple? Its on my left shoulder on the very top. I don't know what it is. But it has a grey dot inside of it.
sounds like one of those unusual moles. you should go to the dermatologist to have it checked out as soon as you possibly can. because it's on your left shoulder (and shoulders get more sunlight normally) it could possibly be something related to skin cancer. you can have it removed at the dermatologist and not have to worry about it anymore. and if it isn't benign when they test it, insurance will most likely pay for the removal.

i've actually only been to one bat mitzvah before, but many of the women and girls there had kippahs on. i'm sure that you could wear one during the service, and after you leave the synagogue you can put a hat/bandana on. and if there's a party that night, you can wear whatever you want!

that's a load of crap. yes, the world might end at any time, but the chances of it ending on "the devil's date" are slim to none. the world ends when it ends, and there's really nothing we can do about it. but just because 6-6-06 is right around the corner doesn't mean that we need to go cower in basements or whatever. believe me, whoever is telling you this is severely misinformed. just sit back and relax. remember when everybody was scrambling around before the millennium because supposedly that was when the world would end? yeah, that was a load of crap too.
Last night a few of my friends and I were at the beach and this was like right behind my beach house. Two of them passed out and we didn't feel like dragging them inside so we just stayed out there a little while and we accidentally fell asleep on the beach.
Yeah, not too smart but when we woke up, three of us had this weird red bumpy rash. I was sleeping on my back and I got it on my lower back. Another girl got it on her arm and my other friend also got it on his back, but upper back.
Has this happened to anyone before? Do you think we should all go to the doctor and get it checked out or just wait and see if it goes away? The rashes all look the same so we're pretty sure it was from the sand or something.
it probably is from the sand. it should get better, but if it gets worse, go to the doctor. i have a friend who is allergic to sand fleas, so if any of you have an allergic reaction to whatever this rash is (or if you got bit by sand fleas... you might not even know it if you did get bit by them) be sure to go to the doctor.

i'm not familiar with this, but it seems legit. if i were you, i would go ahead and get a music myspace and purevolume site. that way, if people hear about you then they'll be able to access your music online or whatever. i have a lot of friends in the music business, and myspace is really a good place to get your music out to the people.
I'm in really bad pain. My head is stuffed up, so is my nose. I've been achey all over, my head hurts. I've been so cold, yet so hot at the same time. I also have no appetite and my throat is killing me, feels like I have a ball in the back of my throat. I'm light headed and dizzy, I don't now what's wrong. Do you? Please help.
it sounds kind of like the flu. i'd recommend going to the doctor. make sure to get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
