advice
Hi peeps ,
Just a quick question ..I have a 14 years old niece and she wants to get a job(to buy some extra clothes, make up etc)...But is this right ??...she may loose focus on her studies...I saw another nieces of mine work at this age and some of them the parents loose control over them becuase they think they work and have everything they need so they think they do not need their parents anymore...On the other hand it stimulate them to work for what they want but...it may leed them to fatal distractions working at so young age..just for buying extra clothes etc etc....
Am I worrying to much..?????
I will rate very high for good answers...
There is no cause for worry here. I'm 14 and female, and I have a job. I work all day, 5 days a week, at my parents' business and I get a little over $200 direct deposited into my savings account. I don't ever even see or touch the money- I just get the bank statement. The money I could care less about (actually, I'm saving up to buy an antique car, lol) but it's been a tremendous learning experience. I have to deal with deadlines and coworkers, and (since I live in Texas, and my job causes me to work outside a lot) heat exhaustion. This is an excellent idea, if your niece is planning to follow through with it. It will give her a taste of the business world, and possibly even help her decide what she wants to do in life. It's definitely helped me decide. I know for a fact that even though I'm good at it, I don't want to make vinyl signs/banners/decals for trucks all my life. The other half of my job (my father owns several companies) is being a stagehand. Because I'm a musician, this has opened many doors and I've gotten to know a lot of people in the business. While most of my friends spend their summers playing video games, I spend most of my summer learning about running a small business. Having a job hasn't caused me to think that I don't need my parents anymore, because my parents are the ones that supply the paycheck and they have offered me so much knowledge about the work world this summer. I actually willingly turn down invitations from my friends to hang out so that I can finish what I'm working on. Most importantly, having a job has taught me that I have to work now to play later. And that's exactly what I do. I help out as a stagehand before, during, and after shows and in the process I get to see a lot of great bands. That's one of the many rewards of my job, and that's why I keep working so hard- so that I'll be able to do stuff like that. Just because your niece wants to buy make-up and clothes doesn't mean that she's going to go psycho once she gets a job, it just means that she's willing to work for the things she wants. Right now I have a few thousand, and I'm constantly saving money so that I can buy myself nice things. I've already got a Hammond organ picked out once I get enough money. My mom was even telling me the other day that by the time I'm a graduating senior, I will have over $40,000 in my savings account. Then again, some of that will go to college, but I'll still have all that money that I earned as a teen. In conclusion (this has been long, sorry), letting your niece get a job is a novel idea. If she's willing to go find a job that she enjoys, then let her go for it.
Okay so I'm a girl and i'm 14. I like this guy he's 14 as well. He's been flirting with me alot, he thinks i'm gorgeous, hot, he says noone can resist me and such. A friend of mine asked him if he was gonna ask me out cuz he was going to a while ago but he had a girlfriend. He said that I'm a cool girl and he wants to but he's afraid cuz of how his relationships have beeng going. So, I want to ask him out. The problem is that one of my best friends likes him too. It feels like if I ask him it'll be betraying her. But if he asks me it'd be different since i didn't pursue it even though I knew she liked him. Plus, she's laid back and i'm sure she wouldn't really mind if this guy and i go out.
My question is: Should I ask him out? Or wait for him?
wait for him and then say yes. if you asked him out then your best friend would probably be a little angry at you. she still might be angry at you if you say yes if he asks you out, but she can deal with it. i think that's a more polite way of doing things. but if she quits liking him before he ends up asking you out, then go for it.
do you think that the song "Daughters" by John Mayer is a good father/daughter dance song for the father/daughter dance during a wedding reception?
opinions are much appreciated!! thanks!
yes, it's such a sweet song :)
Okay i live in duncanville texas, near or in dallas. i have to buy a clarinet. most likely i'll get a yamaha. i wanna know where i can get one thats @ a good price. and near me.
P.s. i dont wannna get it from an online store.
allright, i've been playing saxophone for four years so i'm familiar with reed instruments. i live farther east in texas than you do, but whatever. if you're looking for a yamaha, be prepared to spend some money. it might take a while to find the perfect horn. there are so many things that can go wrong with a clarinet/saxophone before you even buy it that it's not even funny. but here we go. i just checked yellowpages.com for music stores in duncanville, and they didn't have any that would carry clarinets. i don't know if you want a used horn or not, so it's hard to tell you anything. go to this website: http://www.yellowpages.com/sp/yellowpages/ypresults.jsp?t=0&v=3&s=2&q=music+store&ci=dallas&st=TX&_requestid=189484 and scan the list. those are the music stores in dallas. i could name off tons of places to get a clarinet, but you said that you didn't want an online thing, so i can't help you there. if you do decide to get it online (and if you get it new, it will actually be better and lower priced than if you get the same used clarinet at a store. i'm just warning you, and you get a better deal and a better horn that will last longer and have less problems)... anyway, if you do decide to get it online, check out woodwind & brasswind (http://www.wwbw.com), musician's friend (http://www.musiciansfriend.com) or even guitar center, but they might not have clarinets (http://www.guitarcenter.com). i would recommend woodwind & brasswind because they are a wholesaler, not a retail store and they don't mark the prices up after the instruments come from the factory. all of the instruments are new, and you can usually get a pretty good package on that kind of stuff. i bought my tenor sax there last year (it was over $5,000) and it arrived perfect, in due time. anyway, you should also check the classifieds in your local newspaper. there are always several clarinets in my classifieds, and my classifieds really suck. if you can't get a hold of a yamaha, you might even want to try a buffet (they're actually supposed to be better than yamaha). anyway, this has been really long and random. good luck!
I have a huge, ugly pimple on my face and I need it gone by tomorrow. I rarely ever get pimples and when I do, they are easy to get rid of, but not this one! Are there any at home remedies I could try? I have a very important event to go to tomorrow and I can't have this thing on my face!
toothpaste. i'm not even kidding. rub toothpaste on it (and keep rubbing and applying for like 20 minutes). it will feel weird but it dries it out and makes it go away.
ok i'm 14/f and im 5'5 and i weigh like 110 pounds. am i like fat for my age? be honest. and dont say that its whatever i feel comfortable with or muscle weighs more than fat. i do gymnastics but only like once a week but i practice on my trampoline a lot so i do have muscular arms and some muscle in my legs.
thanks
you're not fat at all! i'm 15/f, 5'3, and 125 pounds and i'm skinny! haha. technically, you're underweight. but since you do gymnastics and stuff, you must be pretty healthy anyway. actually, if i were you, i would try to gain some weight (not a lot) just to stay at a normal weight, but do what you want. yeah, anyway, you seem pretty normal.
Hey guys.. I have a keyboard and I can't really play music ( I mean like I can sight read and all that jazz, but it's kind of slow.) anyway, what I do is I learn songs by listening to the song and then plucking out notes, and then sing with the playing. (Example: White Houses by Vanessa Carlton. Uninvited by ALanis Morisette.) Does anyone know any song that are easy to pluck out on the keyboard and can be sung while playing? Thanks in advanced.
Five for Fighting's "100 Years". It's in the key of G, just to get you started. I've been playing piano for 9 years now and I'm pretty good at playing by ear so most of the time I'll sit down at the piano with my iPod on and go through a whole blues CD or whatever and just play along. It's pretty fun, and it's cool that you do stuff like that too. Have you ever tried listening to Coldplay? Much of their stuff is actually the same thing over and over again, so if you figure out one part of the song, you can just play it through the whole song and BAM you've got Coldplay! My favorites by them are "Clocks," "Speed of Sound," "Trouble," and "The Scientist." Try it out, it's pretty fun (and entertains friends, too... my friends will stand around the piano for hours and request songs, it's pretty cool). Anyway, good luck! :)
What are some products I can use to clear up my pimples? I don't have like brigh red acne just alot of little tiny pimples on my forehead and chine then blackheads all on my nose.
I already use AcneFree and I`m not getting much result. ProActive is too expensive, and I`ve already tried Clean and Clear, Stridex, Biore, and Clearisile.
if you're going for the prescription stuff, then try evoclin or differin. i use both, it works wonders. if you're going for over the counter stuff, then try anything by neutrogena. i use their oil free acne wash. neutrogena also makes scrubs for your face, and those work well too.
After I charge my camera (on a dock that plugs into computer) it only takes a few pictures then goes dead. Could I buy a different dock/ do they even sell different kinds of docks?
are you using rechargeable batteries? if so, check to make sure that your batteries are allright. you may even have to go to best buy or whatever and see if they have rechargeable batteries for your camera. if you're not using rechargeable batteries, then that's why they're not recharging. i don't think the dock is the problem, but you should probably take your camera to best buy and ask them about it.
does the pad come with ddr for ps2?
normally, no. i believe the dance mats cost about 40 bucks each, but i could be wrong (i got it for my birthday so i don't know how much it costs). if you just buy the game itself and then get the mat, you'll be set. they have wireless mats, too- i would recommend getting those because you don't have to stand 15 inches from the television for the cord to reach.
if im 13/f and bout 5'7- 5'8ish how much should i weigh??
technically, you should weigh from 135-140, but it depends on your frame and muscle mass and stuff. go to http://www.am-i-fat.com and it gives you all kinds of statistics and stuff. in reality, you could weigh anywhere from 120-150 and still be skinny or whatever. it just kind of depends per person.
about how much would a 9 karat diamond cost??
a lot of money. more than 10,000. my mother loves diamonds and has lots of jewelry, and she recently upgraded her huge diamond (1 karat) on her wedding ring to a FREAKING HUGE diamond (2.5 karat). and i know that it cost a whole lot of money. if you're really interested, look up a jewelry store in your local yellow pages and call them up. they'd be happy to give you some prices.

Are there guys, around the age of 15 or 16, who just want a relationship of holding hands, kissing and making out (but not sex) anymore? I don't think I even know any guys who want relationships like that. Do I just know the wrong guys or is the majority wanting more?
Thanks! :)
there are. they're just hard to find. if you look hard enough, you might see one or two. see, i'm a band geek, so i hang out with all the smart boys (they're not nerds, they're just smart) and they're all pretty cool about stuff like that. the majority is probably wanting more, but there are guys that really don't care about that kind of stuff.
my best friend just told me shes bi. i always kind of thought that because she always tries stuff with me and our friends. it makes us uncomfortable and we always tell her to stop. but now she told me that me and another one of our friends turned her bi...and its creeping me out. i dont want to be a bad friend and stop talking to her, especially because we have to spend the next week together at camp, but after that i'm probably going to hang out with her less. i'm not trying to be rude and judge her, but that just really freaks me out. please dont tell me i am being a bad friend, because thats not what im asking. i need to no how i can make it seem less weird when im around her for the next week at camp, and how i can not talk to her as much after camp without it being obvious that the reason is because she is bi. and also my whole family thinks shes annoying and i do too, and although she is one of my best friends i have always thought about maybe trying to make more friends in high school next year and not really talking to her that much anymore. so it wouldnt be a big deal if we werent as great of friends i think. sorry if that sounds mean. but please help me!!! thanks. btw im 14/f
you have every right to stay away from her if she's making a move on you. cause that's just weird. try to respect her choice of being bi, but if she doesn't respect that you're straight, then talk to her about it and say, "look, dude, this is creeping me out." if i were you i would be a "distant friend"... y'all are friends but you can also hang out with other people. make some new friends at camp. anyway, don't just stop talking to her but gradually drift away. like, if she invites you to stuff, make up an excuse. this probably sounds horrible, but it's better than saying, "go away i hate you" anyway. good luck!
well people i have been volenteering at the local pool with swimming lessons...and i recently had 4 classes and i got a sunburn and i need it to stop the pain...so what should i do....i hvent taken a shower yet but will it be bad if I do!please give me all the advice you can....
thanks,
meghan
take a shower (don't take one that's too hot or it'll hurt like the dickens!) and then put on some type of lotion that has aloe vera in it. i don't know what you have at your house, but the green gel aloe vera is the best, and you definitely need some type of lotion on your skin. there are plenty of after sun lotions at the grocery store and walmart and stuff (banana boat is my favorite) but this sounds kind of urgent so you may not be able to get those quick enough. look around your house for lotion that has aloe vera in it. if you find some, apply generously to all sunburned areas. don't reapply it like 80 times though because then it won't help at all, it'll just trap the heat. but even if you can't find aloe vera, find some lotion and put it on. sunburns suck but this is one of the best things you can do right now!
My orthadontist told me to use rubberbands. What are the purpose of them??
it corrects an underbite/overbite and basically moves the jaw into a normal position, even if it's only just a little bit off. rubber bands really suck, i had to have them. but if you wear them for as long as you need to, then you'll get braces off sooner.
Ok agian I am a 14/m in a wheelchair and I have this friend lets call her S and she and me talk almost once a week on the phone or online cause she is in minnesota for the summer and she has been asking me advice about this other boy that has a girlfriend but they both lik eachother and well after all of that talking with her I was sitting in my room going through the year book and I kept thinking "Why Can't I be that boy that she likes" and I have been having this crush on her and I am scared to tell her cause I don't want our friendship to go bad and have her mad at me cause I have had that happen before
What should I do?
This is kind of tough. I'm 15/f. Because this chick is asking you advice, she obviously trusts you and your opinion on stuff. And besides, we girls don't just talk to any person we find- we only talk about stuff like that to our closest friends! So, I'm assuming that you two are pretty good friends. My best guy friend actually told me a few months ago that he had a crush on me, and I was like, "Okay, that's fine with me, but I don't feel the same way about you right now." He thought that I would think that he was weird, but in reality I didn't because we're such good friends. I was also flattered. So, if you do tell her that you like her, she may do one of two things: go out with you, or not go out with you and kind of avoid you. But if she avoided you, the only reason that she would avoid you is if she actually liked you back but was a little scared to tell you! This is probably kind of confusing, but anyway... it won't hurt to tell her, even though it might be kind of nervewracking, and since y'all are good friends it really shouldn't hurt y'all's friendship. And if you don't tell her to her face that you like her, just show her that you like her. All girls love a gentleman. Seriously. I have five very vital words for you: Treat her like a princess. I've been rambling this whole entire time, but I mean it when I say that chicks dig nice guys. And I can tell that you're a nice guy because you care enough about this girl to ask random strangers what they would do. When she gets back from wherever, or when school starts again, make sure to hang out with her (but don't stalk, girls don't like stalkers). And in reality, at some point in time she's going to get over that other guy if he stays with his girlfriend anyway. Allright, this whole paragraph has been really random, but I'll leave you with this: good luck, dude.
is infusium 23 leave in treatment good for your hair...i was looking for a deep conditioner but thats the closest thing i found im just making sure it wont make my hair fall out or something i need answers asap please =]
yes. my hair normally looks like a big furry mess, but when i use that stuff after i get out of the shower, it looks awesome. plus, it has all sorts of vitamins and stuff to make your hair stronger. it's like health food for your hair! lol, that was really random... sorry.

allright so here's the deal. one of my best friends is my cousin. im over there like everyday and i feel like such a loser because i mean ..its my cousin? and people are like gosh your always over there...shes your best friend? and im like yeahh one of them. i mean sometimes i will do other things with my friends but my cousin doesnt have many friends so she always asks me to come over. for some reason we dont do mcuh but i still have fun :D but i feel retarded because there is this cute kid that lives by them and he always sees me over there and i talk to him sometimes and he probably thinks i have no life or friends since im always over at my cousins. do you think there is something wrong with this situation? i mean i love doing things with my other friends but its always so hard to go through with plans with them because they're always working or busy! but i was just checkin to see what you guys thought. thanks
i actually have two different friends who are best friends with their cousins. actually, i didn't even know their best friends were their cousins... i just knew they were best friends. there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. in fact, if my cousin lived in my town, we would probably be best friends too. and if you have fun when you hang out with your cousin, then why shouldn't you? there's nothing wrong with that. at my school there are a lot of people that have brothers/sisters/cousins at the same school so it really doesn't matter who hangs out with their own family half the time. in fact, nobody really cares. and besides, the cute boy probably doesn't care either... especially if he likes you! lol. don't worry about it, i have the same problem with my friends so most of the time i hang out with my sister when she's in town, and she's 8 years older than me!
So what's the deal with diet coke? It's zero calories and no fat, and only 1% sodium of the daily amount. Other than the caffiene, is there something else in it that's not good for you?
because there is no sugar, they use sugar substitutes. the sugar substitutes are actually just as harmful to your body, however. splenda, aspartame, and something else that i can't remember... anyway, it's not very good for you.
