Q: What are some trendy rain coats and boots?
I'm personally a fan of galoshes with bright colors and fun prints. (My friend has one with lemons, limes, and orange slices!) I also like those transparent, bubble-like umbrellas.

Also, Target has this one really fun rain jacket that I love: http://www.target.com/Xhila-Slicker-Coat-Yellow/dp/B001NI0HS8/181-6673512-8885569?ie=UTF8&node=1239493011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1 It comes in a few different colors as well.

Q: My friend is twelve and she wants to have sex without a condum .She does not have her period and is a virgin. Can she still get pregnant?
Yes. You never know, she could be about to start her period (it might come next week, or even tomorrow.) If she is close (and there's no way of knowing), then she is fertile. Sex without a condom is really never a good idea.

Q: is there a place to put your music playlist up and get recommendations of similar artists you might like?
I'd also suggest Pandora, but keep in mind that Pandora analyzes everything but the lyrics. If you're looking for similarities in lyrics, you might want to look elsewhere.

Q: ok im 14 and my boyfriend is 16. he wants to have sex in the family bathroom at the mall but i don't know if i should do it or not. If it helps its the only place that we can atchually meet. Thanks in advance.
It's dangerously dirty in there, who knows what kinds of diseases you could contract! Tell him no thanks. Your health (and his) would be at risk. It's up to you whether or not you want to have sex with him, but please, please don't do it in a public bathroom!

Q: I dont have a job yet so one time my mom and I went into the grocery store with her boyfriend and I went in to buy a nexus straightener that costed like 7 dollars. But her boyfriend paid it. So after like 1 week my aunt gave me a 20 dollar allowance so I told my mom hey I am going to give back that 6 dollars he paid. Then she thought my intent was that once again I have a problem with him. That really was not my intent at all. My view is that I just pay it back cause he bought it for me when I should have paid it myself or it was my mom mom that should have paid it. She got all mad at me and yelling at me like she was scolding me for doing something wrong. I think both of them are trying to hurt me. What was offensive to what I had said. I wasn't trying to make anything out of it. They all make me sick to be acting to me that way. Do you think that they are right most of the time her boyfriend makes me feel as if I am being judge based on ideas about me that he heard from someone or he formed.
Your mom probably just thinks you're trying to separate yourself from her/her boyfriend, like you're trying to be independent of them. Gently show her that this is not the case by pulling her aside and explaining your point of view; she probably didn't understand it just as you didn't understand hers.

Q: i went to the bathroom and saw blood in the toilet when i was ready to flush. i thought i was on my period when i realized that the blood was in my feces. is this an illness?
It could be. But it could also just be a bit of tearing from exceptionally large feces. If it happens again, see a doctor. For now I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Q: Does anybody know any songs that are about someone being fed up with their life and all their drama and just want to start over their life and turn over a leaf? Like just become a brand new person and forget all the shit?

genres that are Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, Alternative (like simple plan, linkin park, hellogoodbye, fall out boy, nickleback, etc.) are recommended.

Please no country music!

thanks :)
Is Boston by Augustana too obvious of an answer?

Q: I have a problem! I love to organize, but don't have good ideas- but the big problem is that I hate to clean, and the term 'can't see the floor' REALLY applies to my room- and I can't find anything! I tried the 'put everything in a giant pile and attack the pile' but when I see the pile I get overwhelmed, push it to my floor, and it stays there. I hate it! I love being clean, but I just can't get there! So I need:

A) Organizing Ideas (I enjoy it, remember!)
B) HOW THE HECK SHOULD I CLEAN MY ROOM??!!!!!

Thanks, and I KNOW ITS WEIRD!!!
Take it one step at a time. Don't plan to get it all done at once, I personally get extremely overwhelmed whenever I do that. Instead, make little goals, starting with the biggest and easiest: your bed. (I'm assuming.) Take all the junk off of it that doesn't belong there, and put it away!! Don't make piles of stuff to put away, and definitely don't drop it onto the floor. Make your bed and step back: it makes the entire room seem cleaner! (Or messier in comparison to your bed.)

Then take your room apart. Make a list of different sections that need cleaning, and work your way down the list. (Desk, far corner, closet, etc.) Plan to put one small thing away every time you go into/out of your room, be it a shirt or some dirty dishes.

And lastly, organizing. The best way to do it is to start fresh, which means more mess. When I organize my closet (I'm weirder than you) I take out everything, lay it out on my bed/floor/desk, and then put it all away the way I want it. Don't do this until your room is clean, it will just make things worse.

Good luck!

Q: I know we've been trashing our planet Earth for such a long time and that there may not be any hope for saving it, but I want to do my best to be environmentally friendly. Having a green household sounds like the best idea. I really want to go green.

I've noticed a few products in the grocery store that advertise as being green. Buying these products (mainly Chlorox Green Works products, using GE CFL bulbs instead of standard light bulbs, and even Ziploc Evolve sandwich bags) sounds like a great idea towards saving the Earth but I know I need to take the next step forward after that so I can try to be a green consumer.

How can I be more green?

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! :)
First of all, I admire your initiative. Secondly: There's no better advice than "reduce, reuse, recycle!" Cut back on water, electricity, and gas use as much as possible. I know at my house simply plugging things in uses electricity; try unplugging things when you're done using them. Try buying both organic food and clothing. Buy lunchboxes instead of paper bags. Drive less! Try walking or taking a bike, or using public transportation.

Obviously not all of these changes can be made at once, and some of them simply don't work with certain lifestyles. But the most important thing to do, which everyone can do, is spread the word.

Q: okay, i hate kodak easyshare, its annoying, and all my photos i want to upload have to be transferred by kodak easyshare.. i want my old windows picture and fax viewer back. how do i change it so windows picture and fax viewer will be my default for photo uploads?
I don't know if you have Vista or not, but when you click Start there is a button labelled "Default Programs" (on the right side, under the control panel.) After clicking that you can choose "Set Default Programs," pick "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" from the left-hand list, and reset its' defaults.
If you don't have Vista, try looking for a similar program in the control panel or simply search your computer for "default programs."

Q: I made a cake today from scratch, same recipe I have been using for about 15 yrs now. This was the first time it actually over flowed in the oven..what a mess it made.(used same size pans)
I checked the recipe several times I did everything right. It was a choc cake recipe, called for 1 tsp baking powder, 2 tsp baking soda, and the usual 2 cups flour, 1 tsp salt,¾ cup cocoa, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup veg oil, 1 cup hot coffee, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla..
that's the recipe, any thoughts on what could make this happen? To me the cake does have an odd taste to it. But...hubby says it's fine, he'd say that as he wants choc cake so bad tonight for dessert. So...can something I used be bad even though they are not old?
Thanks for any feedback on this..
Hmm, I find that very bizarre. Chances are that you accidentally messed up the measurement of an ingredient, although you did say that you checked several times. It could have something to do with the order in which you added the ingredients. Or perhaps weather/altitude - are you making it in the same place you usually make it?

PS: That sounds like a great recipe! (Aside from the fact that it overflowed.) Coffee in cake batter, very clever!

Q: do you think it's wrong to break up with a guy using the message board on his online journal....which everyone can see and knows you broke up with him....before him does...?
Personally, yes. If you have to do it online, at least make it a private message.

Q: i'm 15 years old..just turned 15..and since i have a year until i'll need a car..i wanna save up as much as i can before my 16th birthday..from now til april 16th..it's a long time..but i still need to save up as much as i can and quick..but..the only problem is..since i dont have a car right now..my parent's wont drive me to a big town to work..( we live in a small town..the suburbs)..and no job close enough in town will hire anyone under 16...so..what are some good way's that i can save up money??
Babysitting is always good! Also, where do you live? Because I know here in Massachusetts you can only drive with parents when you're sixteen, and need to do a lot of work before getting your license. And even then you can only drive family, until you've had your license for six months. Basically what I'm saying is that maybe you don't need a car on your exact birthday? It might be a good idea just to get a job when you turn sixteen, and then save up.

Q: First off, i'm a guy. I work in a place where I have to wear a shirt and tie. I saw this really nice pink shirt the other day and I even found a great tie to go with it. Dress slacks for guys are usually black, brown, blue, khaki or tan. None of these seem to really fit with a pink shirt. I guess black could but what color slacks would you suggest to go best with a pink shirt? i don't have a problem wearing pink. i just don't know how to make it work. any help would be appreciated.
It all depends on what kind of pink you're wearing. A pale pastel pink would go well with black or brown, a neon hot pink would be better with a light beige. Basically, think contrast: if you've got bright, loud colors on your shirt, you don't want bright, loud colors on your pants.

Q: i basically live off of poptarts and ramon noodle soup im now discovering how unhealthy i eat.. i feel like everything is high in fructose corn syrup or whatever. so are poptarts really that bad for you too? whats healthy food too snack on, like what about powerbars??
Try fruit. They're really good for snacking, because they're small and (usually) easy to take places and eat on the go. Strawberries in sugar taste like candy, and apples are pretty good too.

Q: how long can food stay in the fridge?
It depends on what it is! Packaged food, obviously, has expiration dates. You can tell when fruits and vegetables have gone bad just by looking at/smelling them. If you mean leftovers, it all depends on what's in them. If there's a substantial amount of dairy, you should only give it a few days.

I just tried to think of another example and failed because basically all the leftovers I can think of have dairy.. Anyway, I'm a fan of the sniff test. If it smells unusual, abnormal, or disgusting, toss it. If you aren't sure, it's probably just safer to leave it alone.

Q: is beung belimic and having blukimia the same
If you mean "bulimic" and "bulimia," then yes.

Q: Hey, My names Jessica & im a freshmen in highschool. Im also 15. My sophmore year I want to run for treasurer so I think it'll be good to start doing things now so I could be noticed. One thing I really wanna do is start a new club at school, & this would also look good on my college resumer, but thats not the point. I wanna start a club the has to do with the environment and actually doing stuff to help out in the community.
I wanna go out to nurserys, both the plant ones and the ones for, i dont know a nice way to say this, but for the old people. Lol. And I wanna plant things around my school and have bakesales and such. The only problem is that we have a club somewhat like this, but they dont do anything. The name is Eco club. So whats a way that I could talk to my counsler about this and having her approve Also, whats a name I could give the club? Thanks in advance (:
Why not simply join the Eco Club? Become a really active member, and then you acn run for an officer position, and help turn the Eco Club into the club you're hoping to have.

And, as a side note, I'm pretty sure your counselor would approve of this, no matter how you phrased it.

Q: i have heard stories where people hand in blank applications to harvard or write absurd things and.. GET IN.

does anyone know any information about this?

ex: on question for the Harvard application was what was the craziest thing youve ever done? and the student replied "this" and wrote "this"on a post it and handed it in.

among those lines...

and what is your view on those types of things? to be spontanious on your application.
I've heard that one year, Harvard asked "What is courage?" and a kid responded "This is." I've also heard that someone asked applicants to describe themselves, and one kid wrote "I am succinct." But I'm pretty sure those are just rumors/legends.

As for my view on "those types of things?" I think it's up to you, are you willing to risk it? It's certainly a bold and unique statement for the admissions officers.
