School Club

Question Posted Tuesday May 19 2009, 3:23 pm

Hey, My names Jessica & im a freshmen in highschool. Im also 15. My sophmore year I want to run for treasurer so I think it'll be good to start doing things now so I could be noticed. One thing I really wanna do is start a new club at school, & this would also look good on my college resumer, but thats not the point. I wanna start a club the has to do with the environment and actually doing stuff to help out in the community.
I wanna go out to nurserys, both the plant ones and the ones for, i dont know a nice way to say this, but for the old people. Lol. And I wanna plant things around my school and have bakesales and such. The only problem is that we have a club somewhat like this, but they dont do anything. The name is Eco club. So whats a way that I could talk to my counsler about this and having her approve Also, whats a name I could give the club? Thanks in advance (:

Why not simply join the Eco Club? Become a really active member, and then you acn run for an officer position, and help turn the Eco Club into the club you're hoping to have.

And, as a side note, I'm pretty sure your counselor would approve of this, no matter how you phrased it.

Why don't you talk to the head members of the Eco Club and talk to them about your ideas? Maybe you could be a board member and/or organize more events for them. Worst case scenario, they say that they're not interested in expanding their club and you try to approve a new club. But definitely talk to the Eco Club people first before trying your own then, because at least if they say no, you'll have their approval and nobody will think that you're copying them.
