Ok im sending mail to my friend who lives in florida, america but i live in australia. Snail mail by the way. I know his house number, street, post code, suburb, and of course name, but is there anything else i need to put on it? Could someone like type it out how you would put it and what i would need to write? Also from australia to america how much on the stamps do i have to put? Also, is it ok if i put them in the mail box you know the one you put letters you might be sending to family in another state? Or do i have to go to the post office? Someone who knows what their talkin about please answer. Thankyou!

this is a cool question because when i went to australia i mailed postcards to my friend in the u.s. okay, first off you need an international stamp. as i recall, they are like $1.67 at the post office. at the post office there should be a few different boxes, one should be for local and the other should be for whatever else. if there is one marked international or out of state, stick it in there. it will get to the u.s. eventually. i doubt you can mail it from your mailbox at home, but since you will have to get an international stamp at the post office anyway, you can make it one trip. okay, and here is how you would write the address:
bill smith
1234 main street
jacksonville, florida (five digit zip code)
my mail took like a week to get where it was supposed to. just make sure you get one of the international stamps, or your mail won't go anywhere :)

whats the difference between a collge and a university
and also whats the difference between a private and public college? (i was looking of collegboard.com and some were private, and some public)

universities are generally bigger than colleges because they offer many different majors and have different schools within them. for instance, if you major in business at a state university, then you graduate from their business school. a private college would be a like a state university or liberal arts college, and a private college would be like a religious school
(baylor university, southern methodist university). private colleges are generally more expensive. if you go to a public school in your state, tuition is like 7,000 dollars, but a private school can be up to or around 20,000 dollars. public schools are generally larger and have a wider variety of activities and stuff.

does everyone get those letters saying they were invited to national student leadership conference or can become a pageant winner?

many people do, though it's mainly kids that stay out of trouble and stuff. usually when you enter a scholarship contest or do something academic or have a teacher recommend you, you get letters in the mail from different programs. i took the sat in the 7th grade and i get all kinds of crap about boarding school and summer studies programs. i don't do any of that though. i did go to australia with the people to people student ambassador deal, and that is a legit program if you ever get anything from them. that's by teacher recommendation, though i think you can ask a teacher to recommend you. my guidance counselor at school thinks that it's fun to nominate me to every boring program ever so i get lots of useless stuff in the mail.

what is lichen?

second question: do you know any REALLY GOOD dermatologist out there in america or someher else? please hellp i need one

lichen is the symbiotic relationship between like fungus and algae. it sounds gross. it grows on rocks/trees and stuff in the forest, and supposedly if you are stranded in the middle of freaking nowhere and you find some, you can eat it.

i don't really know where you live, but you can call your regular doctor's office and ask them. i don't know if dermatologists are in the yellow pages. you could also do a google search like "dermatologists __(name of where you live)____" and see what comes up. i don't know if it's the dermatologist that would really make a difference on your skin as much as the medicine though. i've used evoclin, differin, and retin-a (all prescription) and it's worked very well for me so you might want to ask about those. also, my sister uses pro-active and it works very well for her.

Is it possible to be allergic to mosquito bites? Because I think I am, whenever I get one, it swells up to the size of like two quarters and its hard and red...What do you think?

it is possible, but i don't think you're allergic. if you were allergic, you would get really sick. i have a friend who is allergic to bee stings, and if she gets stung by a bee she gets really sick and has like splotches all over her arms and stuff. mosquito bites affect everybody differently. my mosquito bites are normally just the size of a quarter. do you throw up when you get mosquito bites? do you break out or anything? if you don't, i'd say that your immune system is just more sensitive to the bites. swelling up is your immune system's way of keeping you healthy.

I'm going to a water park and I have really curly, frizzy hair. Usually, I use hairspray or mousse and it looks fine, but when I go swimming and it all washes out, my hair gets really frizzy and it looks really gross.

So I was wondering if anyone knew of any hairspray or gel or anything that will hold even if I'm getting it wet a lot. I don't know if there's such a thing as waterproof hairspray or hair gel but if so, what's the best kind to get?

Thanks!!

i don't think there's a waterproof hair gel/spray because then you couldn't wash it out in the shower. my advice for you is to gel the crap out of your hair (like when you get out of the shower), put it up in a tight ponytail (or braid it) and then hairspray the crap out of it after that. also, carry some bobby pins with you when you go.

any ideas on how i could get a southern accent without living there?

there are a few different versions of the southern accent, but i think you're talking about the accent somebody like paula deen has (she is on the food network, she is from georgia and has the best accent ever). i am from texas and we talk a little bit "hickish"... actually, there are two different accents in my area. firstly, there is the accent that i am most accustomed to hearing but rarely speak in, and that is the southern accent that emphasizes the r's and draws out every freaking syllable. the other one is sort of the "southern belle" accent... phonetically in that accent, the word southern would be "suh thuhn". this is more common in like alabama or somewhere. i think that is probably the accent you are looking for, or at least close to it. i honestly think that the best way for you to pick it up, for whatever reason, is to watch paula deen on the food network. she has the thickest accent i've ever heard in my life, and it is distinctly from savannah, georgia. i think there's also a wikipedia page about phonetic southern speak (i looked at it one time), so you could look at that for the logistics of our speak.

first things first--15/m.
ok so like i said, im 15 and theres this girl(lets just call her bonqueesha lol) who is basically all over me, and shes really cute and all.. but shes only 13. see in my opinion i think it would be wrong/weird for us to hook up or go out or whatever, so what do all you advicenators think?

i'm 16/f. i tried to put myself in her position just now. think about it... if she knows that you may be interested, of course she's going to be all over an older guy. so basically you say yay or nay to the whole relationship because you know she is all for it. if you think it's wrong/weird, then it's wrong/weird. i don't think it's wrong necessarily, i just think it's weird. as in i wouldn't do that. i mean, it's summer so do whatever you want... but i would just be friends with her. i think it would be a little different if you had just turned 15, and if she was about to turn 14. that's not so weird. but two years is kind of a lot.

i`m 16 and i have been dating my boyfriend of 18 for over a year. we hang out constantly, every day. we decided to take a break this weekend and make it a friends weekend. we both decided on this and were happy with it. then he asks me if i want to be single for this weekend - like pretend he doesn't exist and hookup with other guys. why would he ask this?! i said NO right away, and he was like i don't either i was just asking. why would he ask that randomly?!

to me it sounds like you were implying that you hook up with other people this weekend. so i think he was just checking to make sure you two were on the same wavelength. it's better for him to ask than think that you were going to hook up with people and then go and have a grand old time.

OK this is the situation i broke up with my bf we hadn't been going out long. This girl in my class had liked him all the time we had been going out and about 2 days after we broke up she asked him out (which is really lame!)He said yes and they are going out now should i be angry that it had been only 2 days since we had broken up or should i get over it?

Please help!!!

thanx

you broke up with him. you ended it. so he went off and did his own thing. if you wanted to be with him, you shouldn't have broken up with him. just get over it and don't get mad that he has another relationship.

I was just wondering..
If four people are in a car and three of them are smoking weed.. does the fourth one [the one not smoking] end up with any of the affects?

yes, you still get the secondhand smoke. you probably don't get high, but it's still not too good for you. it's just like with cigarettes: if you're around somebody smoking a cigarette for four hours, that's like you smoking a cigarette. so the fumes aren't as strong as actually smoking it, but you still get some of the effect.

m/13, hi im thinking of asking my parents for a debit card... how exactly do they work, and could i have one at my age? how do i deposit money, withdraw and check my balance etc? can i order stuff on the internet? can i get a visa or mastercard debit card and buy stuff on a website that accepts visa/mastercard credit cards? if i get a debit card do i have to have a bank account? is there any annual fee? how much do they cost? sorry for all the questions lol....

there are two main different kinds of bank accounts: savings accounts and checking accounts. most people put part of the money from their paycheck into their savings accounts, and the rest in the checking account. the savings accumulates and basically sits there until you retire or whatever. the checking account is what is connected to the debit card. you can't get a debit card for your savings account; you have to have a checking account for that. when you write checks or use your debit card, it comes directly out of your checking account. as far as the atm goes, you don't necessarily deposit money into it. you put money into your checking account, and then when you're somewhere around an atm or whatever, you can stick your debit card in, put in your personal identification number (pin), and then select how much money you want to take out. and it takes it directly out of your checking account. you or your parents can deposit into the account. anyone can have a debit card, but i think that it would be hooked up to your parents checking account. i had to get one last year (i was 14) and it was in my name but took money out of my parents account. they could open a checking account for you though and like put an allowance in it or whatever. you can check your balance online. i traveled to australia last year with a debit card and my parents monitored my spending online. all the purchases i made showed up on their account thing online. yes, you can order stuff on the internet. i think the best kind of debit card to get is visa because a lot of places accept it. yes, you have to have a bank account (checking), i'm not sure if there is an annual fee (i don't think there is, though if you really screw up and spend more than is in your account, there is an overdraft charge, but that's only if you're a moron, haha). okay, i think that i answered most of your questions. haha.

I'm not sure if I'm still sick or not so what temperatures will tell me that I'm not? my body temperature measurement goes by Farenheight.

normal body temp is 98.6 degrees. normally, whenever i'm sick, i feel like absolute crap if my fever is over 99 degrees. so generally anything under 99 degrees should say that you're not sick anymore.

kay so i have 2 questions sorry

1. Do guys like tight holes or loose ones when finering and having sex and all that?

and...

2.Alright so this is by far the stupidest question i have ever asked in my life. im 14/f and i have hugged since i was like in kindergarden lol i even make out and all that so dont think im stupid and inexperienced..but anyway. how do you give hugs.. like does one arm go up and one down or do girls go above and guys go below or the other way around? im just wondering cause alot of people do it differently..which is the RIGHT way though?

thanks in advance ^_^

1. i'm not a guy so i wouldn't know
2. normally when i hug people that i haven't known for like ten years, right arm goes up and left arm goes down. the best way to do this is if you are approaching each other (like walking toward each other) and you think you might hug, go ahead and put your arms up so that they get the picture. that's what i do with most of my friends, but with my good/best friends it's basically whatever. i mean, sometimes it ends up in a piggy back ride or something. haha. but if you're not sure, right arm up!

Maroon 5 is coming in concert in awhile! I really want to go but in the song "makes me wonder" they use the f- word a lot, and my mom doesnt like that. do artists usually say these things in concerts during their songs?

thx!

yes, they will probably say stuff like that. whenever my mom tells me stuff like, "oh, you shouldn't listen to this music or watch this tv show because it has bad words in it" i remind her that she sends me to a ghetto public school every day of my life, where i could get raped in the hallway... and it's not like i've never heard any of that before. and you could probably have the same argument. so keep arguing with her! also, ask your friends what they think about it, and tell them to ask their parents if they would let their kids go to the concert. if you get a big group together and say, "mom, all of my friends are going, and i really want to go" she might say yes. my mom is like that. so keep trying! i hope you get to go :)

I was just wandering if there is anyway i could make my period go by faster? cause i might be goin to the beach next week and i wear tampons but i would rather just be done with my period when i get there. i started today by the way, and i usually last bout 6 or even 7 days. thanks a bunch!!

okay, people say that there's no way to make it go by faster... but there is a way to make it heavier for a few days so that it is way lighter toward the end. exercise! it works for me. i run on the treadmill, or dance, or something for like an hour the first couple of days. you know how it gets lighter at night when you're not really being very active? well, i figure that when you're active it speeds things up a little bit. try it out.

I like to shop online because I can find unique things that a lot of people don't have around my school and stuff and also there isn't a mall or anything within almost seventy miles. I usually have my mom and dad pay with their credit card and I pay them in cash for my purchases but they cancelled their credit card because of the interest rates or something like that. So does anyone know of any sites where I can pay by check or money order? Thanks a zillion.

i'm pretty sure that on paypal you can use check and money orders. also, you could ask your parents to get a debit card (it is like writing a check, it withdraws directly from your bank account) because many websites let you use those. visa also has giftcards (i had one and used it a couple online places) that work just like a visa card, and i think you can probably get those at walmart or target if your parents give you an allowance or whatever. if your parents give you a certain amount of money per month or something, go to target/walmart/wherever and buy the visa gift card and then you can shop online with it or use it in a regular store. and i'm not positive, but i think that delias.com lets you pay by check/money order. haha :)

Hey I have a question about clothes. What kind of clothes should I wear to be more attractive to girls. I have most of the basics of dress down but just wanted some tips. Any advice is appreciated. 16/M

i don't know what your particular style is, but i love it when guys wear nice shirts, like button down shirts and make it look casual. they don't have to be expensive clothes or anything, just as long as you feel and look completely comfortable in them. i can tell when somebody really feels comfortable in their clothing, and that's what is attractive to me. of course, a lot of girls go for stores like hollister and abercrombie and stuff... but that's a little bit overplayed to me. of course, if you love the clothes, wear them. however, it really impresses me when guys wear nice, perhaps ironed shirts and just jeans or whatever. it makes it look really casual when you push a long sleeve dress shirt up to your forearms. i think that's attractive too. you will attract the nice girls if you present yourself as somebody that they can introduce to their mother. as a matter of fact, i have a friend who i don't know very well or see very often, but he is very clean cut and presents himself well (and treats girls with respect!), and my parents like him way better than my other guy friends who just present themselves as "whatever"... so keep that in mind.

So I just bought a bracelet at globalangels.org, because I thought they were cute and for a good cause. I payed through paypal, and filled out all of my information. But it didn't ask for my state. It asked for my name, address, zip code, and phone number, but not my state.

Is that normal? Will they know where to ship it even though I didn't put my state anywhere? Even though it was only two dollars, i'd still like to get the bracelet since it's limeted quality. Thanks.

your zip code is specific to your state. also, if there was a mistake, they could look up your phone number and the area code would tell them where it was. but don't worry, even if they didn't get enough info to ship it to you, they would refund your money. it will probably get to you though :)
