When not at my hippie college I live in a tiny rural town 11 miles from the nearest traffic light. I love history and can tell you more about the sex lives of various historical figures than you'd ever want to know. I also collect socks.

theres this guy and hes a freshman and im a 8th grader and weve been talking for 4 months not boyfriend and girlfriend tho cause we dont wanna go threw all the breaking up stuff. but hes fingered me 3 times and we made out alot but i dont wanna go any farther i wouldnt mind maybe giving him head i just dont wanna have sex. is there anyway when were "hooking up" to make sure nothing goes too farr? (link)
|
Just try to keep your thoughts together when you are with the boy. If he goes too far say "no" but make sure you realize he IS going too far. It's easy to get carried away -- believe me, I know -- so try to pay attention to what you're doing while you're doing it.
You didn't mention whether you use drugs or drink with this boy -- but that is a bad idea, because they lower your inhibitions and you might do something you weren't planning on. Make sure you are sober while you are making out with him. Oh, and even if you aren't planning on having sex, it would be a good idea to have a condom handy anyway, just in case something unexpected occurs.

my friend says shes gonna kill hetself how can i stop her without telling anyone (link)
|
You can't. You need to tell someone.
Telling is a good idea not only because measures can be taken to prevent your friend from offing herself, but also because your friend will realize the seriousness of the situation, and also realize someone cares about her enough to risk her anger by telling someone. That alone could be enough to keep her from wanting to commit suicide again.
(Oh, and if you do tell someone, your friend will be furious with you for about three days. Then she'll be grateful. I know because it happened to me -- I told the authorities when a friend of mine tried to kill herself, and she hated me for exactly three days, then she forgave me.)

This is going to sound dumb. But every once and a while i get this really sharp pain right under my left boob like behind the rib cage. and it hurts so bad i cant breath. it knocks the wind out of me n i can't move, but this literally 15 seconds later its fine. it use to happen like every couple of months. but its been happening a lot this week.
wtf is this? lol i never bothered to ask anyone cause it didnt happen a lot. but now its becoming more frequent. any one else get this? (link)
|
This used to happen to me fairly frequently, but it stopped after I began eating over at my boyfriend's house several times a week, so I think it was because of some dietary deficiency. Wish I could tell you what was deficient. You might try broadening your diet anyhow and see if that has any affect. I think the pain itself is a nerve spasming.

well i'm pretty sure that i have a yeast infection, my vagina feels irritated and swolen. i am not sexually active, so i know it isn't an std. if anyone has had a yeast infectoion before can you tell me what kind of medicine or treatments you had? i'm really worried i will have to use some gross cream or something. thank you so much if you can help me! (link)
|
I've had yeast infections before, and used creams. They're not gross at all, and there's kinds you will only have to use once to cure the infection. You get a tube of cream and put it in like a tampon (you should wear a sanitary napkin because some will leak out) and then your vagina will feel really, really warm for a few hours, but it's not bad at all. Then your itching should stop within a day or two and your infection will be cured shortly thereafter. The one-day creams tend to be expensive -- $15 to $20 -- but there are two-day or three-day ones that are cheaper. I find the creams not gross at all, but easy to use and effective. You can buy them at a drug store.

for the past two days, i've had a really bad gas problem. i've been in school and i've had gas and it really hurts. every time after i eat i get this.. is this the stomach flu or what? (link)
|
I don't think it's the stomach flu, as you're not nauseous or anything. What are you eating? Certain foods can cause the problem -- beans are famous for it. There are over the counter anti-gas pills you can take, just ask about them at your pharmacy. If the problem keeps happening though, you should see a doctor.

Does anyone know a cute site for backgrounds for your advice column, not including the backgrounds from advicenators? Perhaps websites with christmas ones?
:) (link)

There are loads of sites with free backgrounds and other graphics. http://www.freegraphics.com/ has links to lots of them, and reviews of the sites too.

ever since my parents have divorced and me and my 2 sisters and my brother have moved to LA my youngest sister (7th grader) has been acting older then she is she can definally pass to be about 16 but that never mattered much in NY but here she is hanging out with girls that were to much make up and not enough cloths. Shes learned how to dirty dance and is making out with tons of guys. She is never home nemore and she looks like a whore when ever she goes ne where! like this morning: she came home around 2am this morning no one new where she was er any thing and when she got in she was wearing a black mini and a hot pink holter top. she was wasted and she had on so much make up that when she took it off she went through 13 clearisel pads! what should i do? she is so smart and pretty but now shes acts stupid and is flunking school!
HELP!!!
xoxoKristen (link)

Although you can have a talk with your sister about her behavior, and maybe spend more time with her -- so she's with you instead of out with her trashy new friends -- I think the issue should be addressed by your parents or the school or both. You should inform your parents and the school authorities of what's going on (your parents should know anyway, or at least the one you live with) and say you are worried about her, and they help her.

I just started a new job, well, not JUST, I've been working there for about 2 months now.
Well I've always been a little afraid of my boss. I didnt think she liked me a first because she was only giving me night shifts, but then I guess all the other girls I work with told her I was a good worker and then she started being nicer to me and giving me the afternoon shifts. Well we had been getting along quite well but then today, she called me upstairs. She had a sheet of all the times that I had punched out of work at the end of my shifts. We have a computer system where we have to swipe our ID card to get paid. Well she said to me " you've been logging out early". "And make sure that you log out on time or I'll dock you 15 minutes pay".
Well I didnt know what she was talking about because I always log out on time. But when she showed me the sheet it said I had logged out once 1 minute early!!!
I couldnt believe I got in trouble for 1 minute!! She said if it happened again she would deduct 15 minutes from my pay. I told her that I thought it was my watch because I always leave on time. Then she told me to look at the clock on the cash register. Am I overeacting or was that pretty silly? (link)
|
I think your boss was overreacting and probably just trying to frighten you. (My mom had the same problem, except she was clocking IN too early, and they had to pay her for the two or three minutes extra a week, and they made a huge fuss.) Just try to ignore the evil boss and clock out a few minutes after time, just to make sure it doesn't happen again. Let's hope she doesn't start complaining then about you clocking out late.

ok sorry this is sort of long but ill rate all 5's. alright well whenever im trying to state my opinion or get my point across to someone i end up in tears. im not an emotional person at all. but its just i just start crying when im trying to get my point across like to my parents and stuff. and its not good because they dont take me seriously!!! like whenever im arguing with them i start to cry. how can i learn not to do this and to just you know, be cool about it and everything and not freak? please help me. thanks!!!! (link)

I used to have this problem, but it sort of gradually went away as I got older -- though it still pops up now and then. I think if you just try to manage things and focus on your words rather than tears, maybe it will go away in time like mine did.

So.. why do you think teens place more emphasis on their appearance? (link)
|
The teen years seem to be the age where you emphasize EVERYTHING -- opinions, activities, etc -- and appearance just fits in with that. Also, the magazines and movies have all these gorgeous actresses who are in their teens or meant to look that way -- the archetype of a beautiful person in America is someone in their teens. So it's not surprising teenagers should care so much about appearance.
Pity the teen years are often when you look the worst. Acne, etc.

My best friend really has changed. We both moved into this new neighborhood, me a bit before her. I was very shy, and she wasnt. I was her firt friend here, and soon we became best friends. Thnx to her I started going out more, and we made a lot of friends in the park and stuff. But lately she's been leaving me out. She calls me to go to the park, and as soon as we get der, and she sees the guy she likes she ditches me. She's changed, and lately I've been feeling like she uses me only when she needs me. And I've told her, but she still doesnt change.I was never good at interacting, so she changed me for the good. And I've become kinda dependant on her. Now I feel like if I was blind, then they give me the gift of sight, then they take it away.It just sucks that she's starting to ignore me when I've become to used to her.And I dont know if I should just move on like she's apparently doing. You didn't mention how old you are -- but friends can grow apart, especially when you're young and still changing. It sounds like your friend has grown apart from you. You have to decide if the relationship is worth saving. Do you have other friends, or can you make them? If I were you I would do one of two things.
1. Have a serious talk about the problem with your friend and go from there.
or:
2. Try to find other friends and hang out with them, and other interests and hobbies to take up your time.
Your friend may come back to you after a time, but if she doesn't, she should not be your only option for company.

what does menage a trois mean? (link)
|
It means a sexual relationship involving three people -- either all of them having sex with one another, or a love triangle. The literal meaning, I believe, is "a set of three."

What are some sites where I can post up poetry and have people comment on them?
I don't want deviantart or poetry.com
(link)

eliteskills.com is a good website for both poetry and prose. They actually attempt some form of quality control in their commenting and I think it yields good results.

I wanna get the side-swept bangs hair cut and I was wondering something..
Do you personally think it's better to have the bangs on the right or left side? Like, which do you think looks better?
It'd also be nice if anyone had good pictures of the haircut (of yourself or famous person or anyone) cause I wanna see some :)
Thanks!
(link)
|
I had sideswept bangs till I was twelve or so -- always swept towards the left. This was because, for a right-handed person, it's easier to push the bangs aside towards the left than towards the right.
I don't really recommend bangs, though. They have to be cut all the time and they get greasy before the rest of your hair does.

Can you get accepted to a college, and wait a year before youa ctually go?
is it a good idea to do that? i have heard it is a good idea, and it isnt, but i would like to know what your opinions are. thank you
(link)
|
A lot of colleges all you to wait a year before attending. After you get accepted, ask your college about deferring enrollment for a year. You will probably have to give a reason -- wanting to work is a good reason, for example. A college will NOT defer admission so you can enroll somewhere else for a year, though.
As for whether it's a good idea, that depends I think on what you're planning on doing during your time off. Only you can make that decision.

At the begining of the year my biology honors teacher had us fill out a form about us. It asked what we wanted to be careerwise. I put that I wanted to be a journalist. The other day he read off what everyone wanted to be. The other kids wanted to be surgeons, and marine biologists..all really important things. When he got to my name he said "Journalist!....Good luck with that. She'll never get a job"
I was so embarassed! Everyone else had really important careers picked out and mine was so stupid. I'm not sure if I want to be a journalist anymore but now I have no idea what I want to do. I have to look at colleges next year and I have no clue what I want to major in. Can anyone help me? (link)
|
I would disregard what your teacher said -- the teacher was not only rude, but also incorrect, as there are many jobs out there for journalists. A lot of the jobs are not the best paying in the world, but they exist -- otherwise we would have no newspapers, radio, CNN etc.
I also would not worry overmuch about what you will major in at college. Most colleges, except for a few specialized art or engineering schools, have a wide variety of majors. Some have hundreds of majors. And most people change their major at least once -- I was intially English, then switched to History with a Politics minor, then dropped the minor.
As for good majors for journalism, here are suggestions: history, political science, English, communications, or journalism. Any major that requires you to write a lot, reasearch, and think independently would be good.

I'm going christmas shopping for all of my friends tommorow. I know what to get all of my close friends that are girls, but I really don't know what to get my best guy friend. It's actually kind of sad because I've known him for almost 5 years, but I am seriously clueless on what to get him. Can someone please tell me what guys like as gifts, that isn't priced over $25, besides gift cards? Thanks!

You could make a donation to the Heifer Project at heifer.org in your friend's honor. The Heifer Project gives livestock animals to poor families and the family is supposed to reproduce the livestock and give the offspring to other families, so it's self-perpetuating. You can pick the animal to buy -- different animals come in various prices, and chickens, ducks, and geese are all only $20. When you make the donation you have the option to send a card to the person you're donating for, explaining that the gift was made in their honor.
