Advicenators: Ask lorelei!

Hi, I'm Lorelei. I live with my mother, my older sister and my grandmother.
I travel a lot but I'm never a tourist. ;) My mother owns property all over the country and I'm extremely lucky to feel at home in so many different places. It's a lot of fun and I get to see a lot of things and meet a lot of people.
Shopping always seems to be better away from home too.
I'm very fashion-minded and stylish, spontaneous and energetic, dorky and giggly. I enjoy having a good time. Almost too much. I party every chance I get. I do drink but I do so responsibly and you should too.
I'm very young but the year 2003 caused me to learn more about who I am than some people get to learn about themselves in an entire lifetime. Ever since I've made it a point to share what I've learned with everyone possible. Ask and I'll do my best to answer.

Whether or not you found my advice useful, a rating is appreciated, good or bad. Let me know how I can improve.

1.) Hey again, I didnt really understand the heart thing do you have to copy and paste this so it makes hearts < & heart ; > . THe thing in the little boxes.

2.) For the cursor do I have to copy and paste the thing it gives you for example i have chosen the text cursor and this is the style type:

A {cursor: crosshair;}

do i have to copy and paste that somewhere on my site? or after i have chosen it how do i get it on my site?

Paste "& hearts;" (without the space or quotes) wherever you want it to show up and it makes the heart.

And to change the cursor on your column, you copy and paste that code in to the area where you describe your column (it's under profile settings).

Hey,

My girlfriend broke up with me, but it wasn't because anything i did. She said she was being a bad girlfriend because she was always gone but i didn't care. I really want to be with her and before we went out we were like BEST friends, now, she's just like another friend except i really like her. I know she still likes me at least some. What can i do to make understand i don't care how much she is gone i really want to go out with her. I would do almost anything to ask her back out.

I'm going to be 100% honest here.
It doesn't sound like she wants to be with you.

I was in a similar situation not that long ago. I told him, "it's not you, it's me," in the hopes that he'd just accept it. He didn't.
She probably just didn't know how to tell you. Or maybe she's got some issues of her own to take care of. Either way, that sounds like an excuse.

I'd start trying to get over her and move on.

Theres a guy I like. He goes to my school. Is in my grade, two of my classes, ect. ect.

But, he knows I like him, and doesn't like me back. He's told me multiple times. But lately, he's been acting like I'm okay. Usually he acts like he hates me. He even IMed me first on AIM. Which is like, a first. Ever. We've been able to talk more, and we're getting along pretty well.

The bad side is, well, I've liked him for so long, now that he's finally maybe liking me, I don't feel exactly the same. I'm in this odd stage where, I do and don't like him. I mean, he's hurt me so much, but I feel like I love him. I can't control my feelings.

So what I would like to know is:
Do you think he likes me?
What should I do if he asks me out?
and
Should I take action?(ME asking him out)

I have NO idea what to do.

Well, first, let me advise you to avoid using the word "love". It seems like a wonderful feeling, but pigeon-holing all of your feelings with a 4-letter word will only frustrate you in the end. You won't believe how many times you'll endup saying "but I love him." Leave it open. You "enjoy his company" or "care a lot about him," maybe.

Now, if you aren't sure about whether or not you still like this guy, I wouldn't see the harm in either asking him out or accepting his offer for a date. You can spend some together in the romantic sense and see if you really fit together. It can help you really figure your feelings for him.

As to whether or not he likes you, I honestly don't know enough about him, you or the situation to say that. I can say though that it's definitely worth a try asking him out. You need some closure with your feelings and this will be the best way to achieve that.

are you a modle b.c you should look into it thats a good pic. and your really pretty! also i was woundering i have acne and do you use like face wash stuff and what kind i cant seem to get my bumps to go away :/ thanks for the help ~ek

I don't really have acne problems. I get pimples some times but I use Dove Cleansing Pillows and Clearasil Vanishing Cream to keep my skin clear.

Okay so you know how some guys will tell you "you're beautiful without all that makeup", but then most of them haven't even seen you without makeup. I don't get it, sorry if that's not really a question but.. Ugh

It kind of bugs me too. Guys can be very hypocritical about make-up sometimes. They'll drool all over a girl with tons of caked on make-up, but then tell another girl she looks better without it. Some people just try too hard to look less shallow than they are.
Sometimes, they are genuine, though. Some guys just like girls who look natural.

okay i cant exactly spell it but i have a really bad *sist* on the back of my leg. its like a bump thats swollen. it really hurts and it hurts when i walk and everything. im going to the skin doctor for it but besides that do you have any ideas of ways to make it feel better, or prevent others from coming... it runs in my family and oh goodie i have to live with this stuff.. i have a few but this one really hurts. and does anyone have experience with them because i am really scared to get it removed or to get a shot on it. :(

What you have is a cyst.
A cyst is a sac of fluid that's under the skin. I'm not sure what a dermatologist can do about it, but if anything, they will remove the fluid and then it'll be all gone.
Don't be scared. You'll be fine. I've had cysts removed before but they were on an internal organ.
I'm not 100% sure how they will remove yours, but it probably won't hurt. I was given an anesthetic and you probably will be too. :) Try asking someone in your family, since you say that other family members have the same issue.

next year im going to a new school..high school and ima gonna be a freshman..all of my friends at my old school think im cute but im like thanks..i dont know that many people in high school so what can i do to make friends easily?

Just relax. Be yourself. Join clubs that interest you or take up a sport. I also like making small talk with people in my classes about the work. That's always a good way to start up conversations. Just don't all of this socializing during class. :)

I'm going to be applying for a job soon, and on my resume..do I put on there that I do a lot of community service hours or does that not matter?

That absolutely counts! Especially if you have no paid work experience. List ALL of your volunteer experience and make sure to list the supervisor's name and number.
It shows that you were able to dedicate yourself to a position that didn't involve pay...and how can that not look good? :)

I just got my period again today (not the first time) But I have a wicked bad cramp. Like I came home from school because it was way too unbearable. Any ways on how to make it less painful other than take advil or w/e cuz i already did.

This is just what I do.
First, nothing sugary for a day or two...nothing super cold either. And stay away from grease. If your cramps are really bad, they can lead to nausea and vomiting.

I take two Aleve (or some other naproxen sodium tablets) and lay down in a comfortable position for a nap.

When I wake up, my cramps are usually gone completely and I can last for the rest of the day.

Hey, I am 16 and a female. I really want to get a tan (since I live in FL). I am afraid about skin cancer and aging skin. Is it safe to tan out for about 10 min at a time? I have very fair skin and I don't want to mess up my skin. Has anyone ever tried natural glow by jergens, does it work?

You should be fine as long as you use a sunscreen. Make sure to apply it about 20 minutes before you leave the house.
Use a very strong SPF (say 15-30) so that you don't have to worry about it wearing off if you're staying dry or so that it last longers if you plan to swim or hang out at the beach.

I got this stuff over the weekend called "Lemon Lights" it's from the beach blonde by John Frida brand. Does this stuff really turn your hair blonde out in the sun?

It will lighten your hair significantly, but don't expect it to work like a bleach.
Using plain lemon juice works as well.

Does anyone have any tips for getting lip gloss to last about 6 hours?

Use lip liner to fill in your lips before applying the gloss.
They make nude lip liners in case you use a clear or sheer gloss. It may not last a full 6 hours but it will last a hell of a lot longer.

My PC is being really odd lately. It's always been a bit off (too many convos open in MSN makes it freeze, or restart, or go black and white, that kinda thing) but it's getting worse. It keeps restarting randomly. I don't think this is a virus because I have Norton Anti-Virus (but it doesn't seem to work so great all the time...). Also, every time it restarts, the plug/socket makes this crackling noise. My mother says it's probably not a problem with the electrics because we have a circuit breaker, so if there was any danger the electricity on the whole of the floor my PC is on would cut out.
Does anyone know what is wrong or how I could make it better?

I think you'd be better off taking your computer in to a repair shop to be looked at.

i have a logitech wireless mouse and keyboard and every so oftern the keys dont work they keep stopping and no writing appears! What do i do? why is this doing this? how can i stop it? it hasnt cut out yet touch wood but please help ive tried re-starting my pc. thankz

The infrared sensor probably just needs new batteries. That happens to me too and changing the batteries always helps.

umm i am really small waisted/hipped for my size. i want to know some places where i can shop that are still trendy, but have sizes that fit me. i only have a 29 in. hip and im almost 15. please help!

Abercrombie Kids could be a good option. Just stick to the petite sections at department stores. I'm a huge fan of Kohl's and they have awesome tiny clothes in their petite department.

my knee has been messed up for like a long time. i had x rays taken of it and they doctor said that the knee cap had slipped over alittle but the other one was over to the side too he said i was prolly born w/ that but now it has gotten worse and my knee cracks like 2-3 times a day and it hurts even more!!!! is there anything i can do to help it?

Go back to your doctor and tell him it hurts. If he doesn't do something about it, you should try another doctor. Even if you were born with misplaced kneecaps, they aren't supposed to hurt.

To help in the meantime, try wearing really comfortable shoes at all times. The kind with plenty of arch support. You can buy inserts at the drug store to put in your shoes if you have to. Also, don't do too much running because that kind of pressure and shock on your joints will make it worse.

I am ALL about DSW! They have so many designer shoes for SO cheap. Yesterday, I bought a pair of BCBG Maxazria shoes for 26 dollars and they were originally almost a hundred.
they also have a lot of shoes that aren't even sold in the US like Diverse Brand.
