I've played volleyball for about 6 years- going into 9th grade- but I can't
stand the people on my team.
I really love volleyball and now that I'm going into high school, now is
when it starts getting serious.
However, I don't feel like part of the team because everyone on the team is
friends and I'm just kind of stuck outside of their crowd. Every time I go
to practice and a match, I feel like I don't belong there and it's getting
really irritating at how they treat me sometimes.
It's getting to the point where playing on the school team isn't fun
anymore and going to practices and matches just seems strenuous cause I
have to deal with their crap. I don't feel like talking to the coaches
either, because they play favorites and I don't think that it would
help.
My parents don't want me to quit the team because they say that there are
always going to be people like that, but I can't take any of this anymore
and it's getting really frusterating- I have no friends on the team and I
always feel left out and it's starting to feel like what's the point of
continuing with this if I don't enjoy it...
What do you think? (link)

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN. I was in the EXACT same position as you were in (volleyball and in high school). I was such an outsider and I couldn't stand the other girls because they were all friends.
Volleyball is 100% a team sport, and you know that. One person can't win the game on their own. If you start to have problems with the other girls, what if it gets to the point where you never get the ball? It will be added stress on and off the court, which is really something you don't need.
I definitely do not think you should quit the sport. Join a club team outside of school. Playing on league teams are so much better. You get girls from different schools who don't know each other, so there aren't any cliques and you make new friends. It doesn't cost too much, depending on where you go, but just explain to you parents that it's affecting your social life and really getting to you.
However, I definitely DO think you should try out for your first year. Give it a chance and see how you like it. You definitely will meet at least one friend since these are girls from other schools now.
Best of luck

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for 6 months now. And i love him to death. He just does so many things that upset me. I went on vacation and he went to the club, when he knows how i feel about that. He'll invite me over then drive his friends around untill 4:00 in the morning. He barelly ever says nice things about me or to me, but he comments on every other girl. He wont talk to me when im trying to have a serious conversation. He never calls me back when he says hes going too. But.. He does things i like. He can make me smile when im sad, i love the way he holds me, and watches movies with me. I love how he cute he is. But honestly i dont think im happy with him. I know i have to do whats best for me. But i really do love him and i cant let him go. What do i do. Please help me. (link)
|
Sorry, but I don't understand how you can "love this guy to death". I know everyone's relationships are different than the next, but there is nothing special about this guy that another guy can't give you. It seems like you like having the boyfriend figure (someone to cuddle and spend time with), but it's just the wrong guy. I bet it's the same with him too, he just likes having someone around for intimacy but doesn't want to deal with the deeper connection. But... he's nothing special. He doesn't do anything positive in your life; instead, he makes you feel bad about yourself (by hitting on other girls, not paying attention to you and ignoring you when it comes down to the serious things), which is a total red flag. You should NEVER be with someone who makes you feel bad. Plus, saying things like "but he does this.." are NOT excuses! Nobody deserves that kind of treatment.
You need to do what's best for you and leave him. Let him know why you're leaving, and go. If you have brought these issues to attention before and he still hasn't changed, then he shouldn't get another chance. It's difficult to change, but it's possible. If he doesn't want to change then that means he doesn't care about you. Like I said, you can't be with someone who doesn't care about you. You can't be the only one in the relationship. Always take care of yourself first, because boyfriends will come and go, but in the end, you are all you have.
Best of luck

I am very against smoking. I have asthma and it bothers me. I'm also afraid of getting secondhand smoke. If I live with smokers, but they never smoke inside the building, can this affect my health in any way? Is it only dangerous if you're inhaling smoke? Thanks!! (link)
|
I don't know how it is at your school, but at mine, there are some dorms where smoking is allowed indoors, and other buildings where it is prohibited. But this year, there will be no smoking in ANY building. There are also regulations that you must be at least 25 feet away from the building if you want to smoke. However, people don't like to follow the rules and there is no one there to tell them that they have to move. It gets REALLY annoying because I can't even open my window to get fresh air without smoke coming through.
Anyways, you will only be affected if you actually inhale the smoke, which is obviously very bad for your lungs. If you smell the smoky smell coming from their clothes, that really isn't enough to harm you because it's not the actual smoke.
By the way, it's kind of tough to avoid smokers. I noticed that there are a lot of smokers at my school. That doesn't make it right, but what I do is just leave the area, or if I'm passing by people smoking is hold my breath. If your close friends smoke, politely let them know that the smoke bothers you and they'll understand. It's not like you're telling them to stop smoking, just not to do it around you.

I probably wouldn't even ask this, but I told my best guy friend what I did, and he told me that what I did was very wrong to the point that even a Satanist would have problems condoning all of my actions.
It really has messed w/ my head since he said that, so I wanted your opinion on if you think I did the right things or not in this instance.
I was in college this past semester, and had 19 hours worth of classes. I also was working two jobs, one of them on campus for the housing dept., one off campus. I had been engaged to this guy I'd been w/ for 5 years from back home, but it was long distance by then because he didn't go to college. I had gotten pretty bored w/ him, and I had found a friend w/ benefits on the side, and the more that went on, the more I felt like I need to break off the engagement, so I did that over Christmas break.
Well, about 3 weeks before the semester ended, my ex fiance showed up and surprised me at my apt. He had a gun, but he didn't threaten me w/ it. He said that unless I got on his Harley w/ him and ran away, he was going to kill his self right then and there. I did call my little sister and I told her that I was running away w/ my ex-fiance, and she was the only person I would call while I was gone. I told her to tell our parents for me, so they'd know I was ok, but not to tell anybody else. So then I left w/ him, and we headed out west. The plan was that we were going to Vegas to get married. We were on the road for like 4 weeks, and the longer I was w/ him, the more I remembered why I had broken up w/ him to begin w/. We were somewhere in west Texas, I forget the name of the place, and he had gotten really drunk at our motel room and passed out. I looked in his pants pocket and got his wallet, and I slipped out the door. I used what cash he had to buy a bus ticket to Dallas, because he didn't have enough cash on him to buy a bus ticket for anywhere closer to home. On the way to Dallas, I ripped up or cut up everything from his wallet because I was bored, plus I didn't want someone to do identity theft on him, ya know? So when I got to Dallas, I found this strip club and asked if I could dance there for one shift to make money for bus fare, and the manager was nice enough to let me. (I had worked in strip clubs where I go to college at before.) So, I was able to use that money to finally make it back home. When I made it back home, I found out that I had fired from both of my jobs when they didn't hear from me, and also that I was on academic suspension because they had given me F's in all of my classes when I didn't show up for finals. Also, when I didn't show up to move out of my dorm room, they cleaned my room out, so I lost everything in there. In short, I lost my whole life on that trip. But still, in my mind, I did the right thing b/c he would've killed his self otherwise if I hadn't have left with him. I can rebuild what I've lost, and I've already found one new job.
The thing that my best guy friend has the biggest problem w/ was that he said if I was going to steal my ex's wallet, then I should have also stolen his gun and thrown it away or pawned it so that he couldn't use it to kill his self when he woke up and saw that I was gone. I really didn't think about that at the time, and now that it has been pointed out to me, I am a little bit worried about it.
So, did I really handle things as badly as my best guy friend said? (link)
|
I don't know why your friend had to bring up the Satanist part, but no, I don't think what you did was bad to that degree. But, you really did mess up and you know that.
You ran away without thinking of the consequences and ended up throwing away everything you had. That's completely irresponsible to just bail like that, and not even call work or do anything about your school. You think it was worth it but there are so many other ways this could have been handled, without ruining your life.
You could have called the police, or tried to calm him down and talk about it. Him pulling a stunt like that kind of seems like he didn't have closure.
You say you feel like you did the right thing by keeping him from taking his own life, but you also did something just as worse. You led him on by running away with him, only to slip away in the middle of the night. Was that doing the right thing? I'm sure that made him feel just as worse as before. He believed you'd stay with him but you just left without a word.
I also don't think it was right to steal his wallet or to shred everything in it to pieces. If all you wanted was the money, then that's all you should have taken. Even then, I don't think it was right to steal from him.
I'm sorry, but all I keep thinking is "Poor guy". You obviously are not the hero here, and I'm very much sympathizing with him. Well, you can't change the past, but what you can do is make things right. I don't know what's happened after all this, but you are the wrong one here and you sure do owe him an apology and more.

about how much should a tune up cost?
i dont know anything about this stuff so any help is good
=] (link)
|
Around 50 to maybe 150, depending on where you go. Just so you know, auto shops LOVE to take advantage of customers, ESPECIALLY women. They will tell you that "this and that needs to be fixed" when it isn't broken in the first place. Since you're a woman (I'm just assuming that you are), then think you don't know jack about cars, which most women usually don't. So, you should have your dad, boyfriend, brother, or guy friend drop off your car.

I feel as if I am selfish. My Babe was suppose to sleep over my house on Thursday. I called her to make sure it was still on and she was on her way to corning. That's were her cousins live. i was like, why are you going to corning when we made a plan. I haven't seen her in two weeks, cause i was on vacation. So I really miss her alot. I was kind of acting like a jerk because i was so upset with her. I regret it and zi told her I was sorry., But I am just wondering two questions.
#1 was i being selfish?
#2 what if happens again, what should i do? (link)
|
No, I don't think that was selfish. That was just you missing her, which is to be expected if you haven't seen each other in a while. It was rude of her to do something else when you had already made plans.
If this happens again, remind her that she had made a commitment and should keep her promise. Also, make sure you act sad, rather than upset. Showing her that you are mad will cause a fight, but showing her that you are sad will make her think twice and have sympathy.

Hey all, I'm using a Dell Windows XP laptop, and I'm having a problem with the sound. I've been using this for about 7 months or so and I've had no problems before, but as of two days ago my sound has just stopped working. I've checked the volume controls and they're all up high. It's definitley not on mute, and I've even gone through the troubleshooting and check out if the right device was enabled and there were no problems there.
So why is there still no sound???!!!
Does anyone know what the problem could be? Or can anyone offer any tips on what I could do to remedy this situation?
Thanks in advance !
(link)
|
Most of the time my sound stops working if I have too many programs open or too many tabs open in my internet browser.
Is there a chance you got water in it? For instance, if you bring your computer in the bathroom while you shower, the water vapor gets into the computer. Sounds stupid, but I know people who have ruined their laptops that way.
Maybe you accidentally dropped it?
Have you tried restarting it?
You might want to just take it into Circuit City or Best Buy to have someone look at it, seeing as you've done all you can do with the troubleshooting.
Almost everyone I've known who has had a Dell laptop has been screwed with so many problems. I know people whose computers suddenly shut down and wouldn't turn on again. It couldn't be fixed so they had to get entirely new laptops.

If anyone has seen the movie "Thirteen"
Its about a teen girl where pressures surround her, encouraging her to grow up too fast, leading her down a road of drugs, sex and more.
Does anyone know any movies that have the same plot line?
I've searched about the related movies.
SO
I've already seen:
Mini's first time
Havoc 1 & 2
The Quiet
Any movies you would recommend?
Thanks
(link)
|
I'm not sure if you've seen it already, but I wouldn't consider Mini's First Time to be along the lines of peer pressure or drugs.
"She's Too Young" is a Liftime movie about a girl who is so pressured to fit that she loses her virginity to a promiscuous guy who's been infecting a lot of girls with an STD.
"Bully" is based on a true story about a guy who bullies his best friends, so they plot to murder him, even involving people who don't even know him. Lots of sex and drugs in this one.
"Kids" is full of sex and drugs. It's a few stories intertwined.
You can also check out "Speak" which was originally a book. It isn't exactly what you are looking for but it's somewhat related. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0378793/
Kids and Bully are equally disturbing. I'm not sure if you will want to watch them. They will make Thirteen look like My Little Pony. I don't know how old you are, but these are really mature movies so please trust the ratings, or else be very prepared.

I first started feeling weird sensations just 3-4 days after having sex. It started out as a very sharp pain in my lower back (it felt like period cramps, however it wasn't my period), and that lasted a few days. Then I started feeling like I was going to puke, and that happens at various times of the day. And I also start to feel nauseous while driving in the car. The smell of food just makes me sick.
It isn't time for me to get my period yet, so I can't predict it by that.
Answer seriously, and I'll rate 5's
`thanks (link)
|
Women don't begin to see any symptoms until at least two weeks after becoming pregnant. Some women don't even see the signs until much later. The pain could just be soreness from sex.
So no, you aren't pregnant. It's way too soon to see the signs.

has anyone ever used that "sun in" stuff or whatever its called you spray it on your hair and it supposively makes it lighter if you go and lay out in the sun, i was wondering if it works or not? cause i've heard it makes your hair look orangey, just wondering if anyones had any luck with it because i wanna try it.
THANKS :) (link)
|
I had wondered about that before, so I looked up some forums about it. It won't work if you have dark brown or black hair. If you do have lighter hair, it will most likely turn it orange. Also, a lot of people said it was really bad for your hair, that it makes your hair noticeably dry. The same thing goes for if you use lemon on your hair. It has acids that basically fry your hair and is way worse than dying it. You're better off getting highlights done at a salon unless you want frizzy hair.
|
how do i get them??? (link)
|
You can only get them through genetics. It doesn't matter how much fat you have either. I've seen back dimples on girls who are kind of chubby. Plus, not all stick-skinny girls have them either.

My boyfriend and I were talking, and we think we are ready to have sex, but we agreed that we have to have condoms and I need birth control, but neither of us really learned about it, so we had some questions.
1. To get it, I would need to go to a doctor right?
2. Do I have to bring my mom with me?
3. At the doctor's office, do I have to be a regular patient? because both of my parents work at a hospital, and I really don't want them to find out.
4. About how much does it cost?
5. Would it be a gynecologist that I have to see?
Thanks so much for helping!! (link)
|
1 & 5. Yes, you have to see a doctor (gynecologist).
2. No, you don't need a parent.
3. No
4. Tell your doctor if you are concerned about the price. It can be anywhere from $9 to 14. Mine is a generic brand that costs $9 at Wal-Mart.
What you need to do is find a planned parenthood or women's clinic. It's much more friendlier and you'll feel more comfortable than if you went to your regular doctor's office. You don't have to be a certain age, and they're very exclusive when it comes to privacy. They deal with this all time. They also do a really good job with answering your questions, giving you pamphlets and informing you of everything you need to know.

This may be disgusting but i need help!!!!
OK i am not sick. I dont have a cold. But my nose is stopped up. But the worst thing is like i have mucus in the back of my throat. Like if you look in the back of my throat,by my tonsils, you can actually see it and i feel it. I dont smoke or anything i am only 13,but why is this?? It is sooooooooooooo aggravating sooo PLEASE help me!!!!!!!!! (link)
|
It's probably a sinus infection. If you feel that your lymph nodes, which are to the left and right of your throat on your neck, are tender and swollen to the touch, that's a sign of a sinus infection. You will probably get more symptoms soon, like feeling pressure in your head or clogged ears.
Your nose is stuffed now, but in a few days it'll start draining. This is normal and is the body's way of taking care of the infection.
Drink LOTS of water to try to break the mucus down. You can go to the doctor to get antibiotics to relieve the symptoms. It should last one to two weeks.

ok so some of my friends that are mostly girls (but im a boy) are starting to say stuff to me that im getting really annoying and i want to try to stop being annoying cause i like this girl but she thinks im a it annoying so my questions are
a.what are things that guys do to annoy girls
b.what are ways for a guy to stop being annoying
c.what do guys find annoying that other guys do
and..
d.what can i do to stop being annoying to other guys
btw any other information would be a great help
and im 13/boy
thanks (link)
|
I can't exactly say why they are annoyed with you, because clearly I'm not them, but here are some common reasons why people in general find others annoying:
- Talking too much
- Talking too much about a specific thing (For example, always talking about cars and nothing else)
- Asking too many questions (ie. What's wrong? What are you doing?)
- Inviting yourself to events
- Always hanging around
- Butting in conversations that aren't your business
Just give them some space and they'll probably come around.

I posted a question about the dogs in my house fighting a while back. well, I have now found out that it is in fact my dog that initiates these fights. He has shown some very bad signs in the past year, he nipped my son's face (there is no more contact between them since) and lately he has been starting very vicious fights with my boyfriend's dog. Well, I see that my dog is not good to have around because I cannot trust him with my child around and so he barely gets enough attention from me and now he is fighting with his only other companion. I love this dog so much, he is so obedient to me and shows me so much love...but I know I cannot have him, especially since my boyfriend says I have to get rid of him. I cannot take him to the shelter because he will get euthanized, and if I take him to the no-kill shelter I am afraid no one would want him because I would have to tell them he is not good with kids or other animals. I love my dog but know I cannot have him, what should I do? Any ideas would help. thanks (link)
|
You could post an ad on craigslist.com
So many people look at craigslist, just make sure you post a picture so you have a better chance, since people may want to see what he looks like. You don't necessarily have to put the whole story about why you have to get rid of him.
Other than that, the best way to find a new home for him is by word-of-mouth. Tell every single person you know, and ask them to ask everyone they know as well. Tell your neighbors, co-workers, family, maybe people from your church or any social groups you meet with.
Sorry you have to let him go!
Best of luck

I'm 16/f virgin and I've heard about a million things about sex. I've heard from my parents that I should wait until I'm married. I've heard from magazines that I can do it with anyone, but I should use a condom. In movies they make it seem like you can have as much sex as you want. Then you have others saying save your virginity while another group says things like you have to "test drive before you buy" kind of thing.
Who is right? Or because in this day and age that there are so few girls that have thier virginity that it's not important anymore?
Thanks,
A Virgin and proud (or possibly not).... (link)
|
This is a personal choice. Just because everyone is doing it, that doesn't make it right, and especially doesn't make it right for you.
It's not only about morals, it's also about self-control. I've had so many friends who swore they'd wait for marriage, but "one thing led to another" or they just became different people with different morals.
Anyways, don't let movies and the media influence you so hard. They may show the glamorous side, but what it really is is a lot of sex, drugs, addictions and a whole kind of mess. They don't talk about STD's, HIV, and the emotional baggage that comes with it.
They make sex look so easy and simple, like you said, you can do it as much as you want, but they don't do a good job of promoting safe sex. Even if you think you are in love with someone, you REALLY don't know if they have an STD. While there are people who have a lot of sex out there, just know that most of the girls who are like that do it because they hate themselves. Having sex makes them feel better and important, but afterwards they feel worse.
Whatever your morals may be, you should wait until you find the one, someone who you really trust and love. Some of us may meet that person early in life when we're young, or they don't meet that person until they're old enough to get married. I know a lot of people who regret their first time, but we all make mistakes and learn from them. Just do what you feel is right for YOU, not anyone else. It's your body and your life.
Best of luck

do they sell plane tickets to minors under the age of 18? if they do do you have to have your paretns permission or their ID with you? and wud i need an ID to buy the ticket?
and can you buy the plane ticket at the airport, the day your plane leaves? or do you have to buy it ahead of time on the internet?
and do you have to have a passport jsut for going somewhere lets say you live in texas and you want to go to florida wud you need a passport for that? (link)
|
You can buy a ticket if you are under 18 and you don't need parent's permission. I have traveled by myself when I was 16.
You need a credit or debit card to buy a ticket. They might take checks, not sure. And YES you need an ID to prove that you are who you say you are. You can buy a ticket at the airport, the day it leaves, but it will be harder to get a seat since everyone buys theirs online in advance.
You only need a passport if you leave the country, but I believe you can use that as a form of ID as well.
I don't mean to jump to conclusions, but it sounds like you plan on running away. If you are, just know that they will find you. Your name appears on the ticket and in the records. That's why you need an ID to get on a plane in the first place. They need to know who is traveling on their planes.

help! I'm prejudiced about christians! I know this is stupid. What should I do? (link)
|
It's not stupid. We are all entitled to our own opinions, but religion has caused many wars. People always dispute because they want everyone to convert to their religion, that they forget to respect one another's beliefs. Now, unless you want to start confrontation, just keep it to yourself. At least that's what I do.
|
How do i get better grades in math. (link)
|
The thing about math is that you have to DO the problems yourself to get better. You can watch the teacher do examples all you want, but that doesn't mean you can do them yourself. Just keep doing them until you KNOW what you're supposed to do. You also have to understand the logic behind it. Put in some extra time and do extra problems in the book.
You should see your teacher before or after school, or go to peer tutoring after school. Every time you have a question or don't understand something, you should ALWAYS ask!! Don't be afraid to ask; teachers love when a student seeks help. that's what they're there for.
