Q: I know that this question is gonnaa sound a lot like Legally Bl;onde, but I think my dog (pug) is gay!!! (Help...me...)
Does it even MATTER?

Unless you're planning to breed dogs, this isn't going to affect you at all. The fact is that when dogs aren't neutered, they go after pretty much anything that moves (or doesn't), whether it's female dogs, male dogs, people's legs, or stuffed animals.

You have to realize that without neutering your dog (which will calm him down), there's not much else you can do about it. You can't train your dog to put his hormones away. So stop letting your homophobia affect the way you think of your dog.

Q: does anyone know of some good art websites.. or websites that show you tecniques of painting or spray painting?
deviantart.com has craploads of tutorials written up.

Q: So here's the deal. I have never had a g/f. But I have a very nice personality and I am very very funny. Whats wrong. HELP
Unless you're in your 30s or 40s and everyone you've asked out has said no for no reason, nothing's wrong with you.

A girlfriend isn't going to come to you just because you think you have good qualities. Also, what you think about yourself may not be what others think of you.

You can't just wait around for a girlfriend to materialize. Unless you have the body/face of a god (or Edward Cullen, thanks to Stephenie Meyer -.- ), girls will probably not be falling over themselves to get to you. If you want a girlfriend, you have to make an effort to impress someone and make sure you SHOW her your "very nice personality".

Q: is a fish a good pet? or is a dog better? i cant decide, people help me!!!
I've had both pets.

It really depends on what you're looking for.

Dogs live longer, are more fun, but are a huge commitment. Having a dog is almost like having a child; it's expensive, time-consuming, high-maintenance, etc.

Fish live shorter lives (some fish I had lived for a day, some for a year), are much easier to get bored of, and are overall cheaper to take care of. There are no vet visits, no medicines, no walks to go on. Cleaning the tank can be a pain in the ass (especially if you have a big tank).

Overall, I think fish are more of a decoration while dogs are an actual pet. You can bond better with a dog because you have to teach it, feed it, take care of it, etc. You spend more time together and as a result, pets like dogs and cats are more likely to be seen as members of the family. Fish are just..there.

If you have time to take care of a dog, get a dog. Otherwise, get a fish.

Q: Okay I just wnat to know: when you know someone's cheating on you (not in a relationship, I'm talking school work-wise)what do YOU do?

Do you ignore it? Do you try to give him/er subtle hints that seem subtle to you but not really to anyone else in the class?

Or come right out and say it?

I think everyone just ignroes it and sometimes I do too. I don't want to be a taddle-tale, but when will they ever be punished?!
Just ignore it. Cheating isn't going to get them far.

If you REALLY don't want people cheating off you, teach them a lesson. Put down a shitload of wrong answers on your paper and quickly correct them at the last minute. And then hand in your paper or turn it over.

Q: Does that mean they are attracted to you?
Not necessarily.

"You're pretty" doesn't mean "you're hot". You can think someone is good-looking/handsome/pretty/whatever and not be attracted to them.

Q: Ok me and my boyfriend just had sex 2 weeks ago and I don't get my period till next week. We didn't use protection and he cummed inside of me. When he told me he did I ran to the bathroom and tried to clean it out because I got scared. Can I end up pregnant? Please help me because I am really scared!
It's very likely that you're pregnant. Whenever you have unprotected sex, there's a big risk. If he cums inside you, it becomes even MORE likely.

Trying to clean it out did you no good. There's just no way to ensure that you cleaned out EVERY SINGLE cell.

Honestly, if you had unprotected sex and are NOT ready for a kid right now, you should not have waited two whole weeks to panic. You should have immediately gone to the store and picked up the morning after pill.

Go get yourself a pregnancy test and if it's positive, you're going to have to start thinking about whether or not you can raise a kid.

Q: I'm wearing this dress to my junior prom

http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/stylewatch/gallery/sequin_dresses/carrie_underwood_200x400.jpg

and was wondering, what should I do with my hair? And what color should I get my nails painted? I'm relatively pale and have long brown hair, if that helps. Thank you!
First of all, that dress is INTENSELY eye-catching and flashy (and shiny), so everything else should be more simple. I would paint the nails a color similar to the color your nails already are..maybe go with a french manicure? (Those are always pretty simple and very nice.) Also, I would NOT recommend getting tips or whatever (I don't really think super long giant nails would go with this dress).

For the hair, I would say you should wear it up somehow. Not just because the girl in the picture is wearing it like that, but because of the way the dress is cut. The triangular-ness and short sleeves (are those sleeves?) are interesting; you wouldn't want to hide that with your long hair.

Other columnists have suggested that you copy her hairdo; I agree only IF it suits you. You should tie your hair up to the side like in the picture and see if you look good. Certain hairstyles/cuts work best with certain bone structures and whatnot.

Q: Five years ago i saw a documentary on NYC and it's faults. it said 95 years ago there was world's worst earthquake that killed millions because they weren't expecting it & all of the skyscrapers collapsed. My Choir is going on a broadway trip to see a broadway show in nyc, and i am VERY scared that tehre will be an earthquake because it has now been exactly 100 years since the last major EARTHQUAKE. soo idk if it was true, but i heard that they were expecting such a big Earthquake thatt it will effect pensylvania and more than half of the east coast. Because of Haiti, Chile, iceland, norway, The volcano etc i'm scared that there will be an earthquake the day we go to nyc help asap.
Chill out.

I LIVE in New York and I'm not panicking or getting the hell out. Know why?

We have extremely sophisticated equipment that monitors seismic activity and can make projections about the future.

When Mt. Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines a couple years back, the area was evacuated long before. The USGS was on the spot and monitoring the volcano days (maybe weeks?) before the eruption. Why did the US send a geological team to investigate a threat to some random foreign town? Answer - there was a US air force base there.

Now, if they're willing to do that for a bunch of military equipment, think about the effort they would put into protecting a city like New York, pretty much THE most famous city in the world?

Trust, in the EXTREMELY RARE occasion that a major earthquake would occur, you and everyone else in New York would be evacuated long before.

You have nothing to worry about.

Q: I took the A.P World History course this year. I am taking the A.P exam may 13th, and i was wondering if it would be a good idea to take the SAT subject test in world history? I definitely want to take multiple SAT subject tests and send my 2 best ones into colleges, and i want to know past experiences and advice. Have you taken both exams? Is one easier than the other? Thank you!
SATs are way easier than AP exams, mainly because the APs are more in-depth and detailed.

I would definitely recommend taking the SAT II because it can only help you. If you get a crappy score, you don't have to send it.

Also, don't just send two SAT scores to colleges. The goal is to look as well-rounded as possible. Especially if you get over 700 on the test.

I would recommend taking the SAT II in October. Why? June is when EVERYONE takes the exam and the material is fresh in their minds because it's the end of the year and they've just finished the course. At the beginning of the year, on the other hand, it's been months since they took the class, and unless they've been studying all summer vacation, they probably forgot a lot of material. If you can be diligent about it and study, you should definitely take the SAT II early in the school year, where there will probably be a higher curve.

Q: ok im 19/f, i get bored in class a lot so i like to doodle still haha. but i can never think of things to draw. i used to draw really well and im semi-good at it now. i dont like drawing people and hearts and stuff like that but more like tribal designs and nautical stars. if i draw hearts and flowers and what not i tend to get artsy and try to shade and make them look good, or sometimes i'll do my name in different designs. but i'm getting bored. any ideas of good doodle designs?
I think it's kind of weird that you're asking for help on doodles. They're not supposed to be glorious masterpieces that you've planned on drawing for months in order to decorate your notes. Doodles aren't really supposed to be planned in advance because, well, when you're in class, you just draw whatever the hell comes to mind.

But then again, using doodling time to practice your drawing and whatnot can really improve your art.

Anyway, my notes are usually more doodles than information, so I think I can lend a hand.

In the past week, my doodles have consisted of an entire page's worth of dress designs, dozens of strangely-proportioned humans, birds & feathers, dinosaurs, monsters, flowers, killer flowers, etc. Sometimes, if I'm really bored, I illustrate a lesson topic (the picture always ends up completely irrelevant to the actual topic and stupid, but it's fun. At one point, I think I drew a derivative - it turned out looking like a weird narwhal thing. o_o )

I knew a girl who spent each school day decorating one sheet of looseleaf paper with all sorts of intertwining swirls. She'd have a new full page every day. It was pretty intense.

Q: my boyfriend wants me to show him how much i love him...well i really dont know how to do show him that i love him...i mean yes i love him but how can i show it next time i come up his house?
Please keep in mind that showing people how much you love them DOES NOT mean doing anything sexual.

It's NOT "we're having sex, therefore I love you ". That's RIDICULOUS. You may want to have sex with someone because you love them, but not the other way around. (Did you learn truth tables back in high school math class? Given love->sex,the converse is NOT true)

Anyone who says that how many blow jobs you give is a measurement of love is lacking a brain. And if that's your boyfriend's reasoning, he's either just using love as an excuse to push you to do shit or his logic just EXTREMELY skewed.

Anyway, I'd say go for simple displays of affection. Take a little time out of your day to do something for him. Think about the little things your boyfriend does for you (if any?) that make you happy. And try to return the favor in a similar way. My boyfriend likes when I bake/draw him stuff.
And I second what WittyUsernameHere said about massages.

Q: I have mousy brown hair. it's really disgusting and i hate it, so i dye it black. one time about two years ago i got it done at a salon; i dyed it black with red streaks. well, the streaks faded to caramel and the black looked brown because of that. and everytime i tried to dye my hair black after that, it would fade within two weeks. now its just dark brown.

does anyone know anything i could do to make my hair hold the colour better? or a better dye? I used feria for a while and then i tried naturals something. but yeah.
Your hair's not gonna hold color (not for long, at least) if it's already dyed. If you want to dye it black permanently, you're going to have to get to a salon (or do it yourself) and strip all the color off of it first.

If your hair isn't dyed, try adding heat when you're applying the dye (what I do is blow-dry my hair right after I'm done applying).

As for good brands, I've used Naturtint and have gotten pretty good results. It also claims to damage your hair less because there's no ammonia and whatnot.

Q: When you're pregnant... how long does it take until the fetus has a heartbeat.

And how long do you wait until after sex to find out if you are pregnant from a pregnancy kit?

Thank you.
x
The heartbeat is actually the earliest behavior - it begins when the embryo is about three weeks old.

I think two to three weeks is the recommended time to wait before you take a test; that's about how long it takes for the hormone hCG to be picked up by the test.

Q: My boyfriend loves art & is majoring in Fine Art. I want to surprise him with some new art supplies, as he says he loves them, but doesn't have the money for new supplies right now.

He mentioned loving even basic things, like pencil cases, sharpeners, and erasers. But he mentioned that he likes really fine pointed black pens for drawing, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on which type of pens to buy? Or any other suggestions of art supplies to surprise him with? I'm going to Hobby Lobby (crafty store) tomorrow, so any ideas would help! Thank you. :)
Fine-pointed pens are a beautiful thing.

My favorites are Sakura micron pens (~$2 each : http://www.sakuraofamerica.com/Pen-Archival) and Copic pens (http://www.dick-blick.com/items/221/27/22127-group3ww-l.jpg :maybe $5).

Make sure that when you buy these, you don't just grab any pen; they have different thicknesses. I think the finest Sakura pens out there are .2mm (that's the thinnest my local store sells, anyway), whereas Copics are much more fine (see link above). Copics are like the Cadillac of the marker world, but I would recommend either pen.

Q: Hi :) I've had scoliosis since I was in 7th grade. I'm a junior in high school now. I was braced for a good 2 years and it ended up failing. My scoliosis is is about 37-40 degrees and my regular doctor was saying how I should get spinal surgery to correct it so I wouldn't have long-term disadvantages when I age. Of course that is something I do not want at all, disadvantages, that is.

I'm not exactly for the surgery, but I don't want to live my life in pain and difficulty. It's about a 4-8 hour procedure (if I remember correctly) and a 6 week recovery and typically very successful. My doctor is the man who corrected Gloria Estefan's back injury when she got into a bus crash, and I know he's very very good at his job. I'm just concerned because it's my spine; obviously extremely important, and it's hard to trust a stranger with something so important and risky.

I was just wondering if anyone had this surgery or knows someone who had it and if it was worth it. Also, if you know someone who is older and didn't have surgery, how are they living now? I'm willing to listen to any personal experiences or anything of the sort. Thankyou so much for taking your time and helping me!
My friend's sister had it done.

Post-op can be a bit tough; the day after her surgery I was at my friend's house, and all her sister could do was lie face-down on the bed.

But now she's perfectly fine. Looks and acts just like every other teenager.

I know going into surgery may be tough; you have to trust a group of people you don't know with your body. But they've been trained for this and they know what they're doing.

Q: I'm in a high school program at a community college, one of the required classes I have to take is a SAT/career preparation. One of the assignments I have to do is write about something that have changed my life that makes me a stronger/better person I am today. When thinking about it, I feel like I have nothing amazing that happened in my life. My professor says to write a personal statement that shows colleges that I'm a strong person and make them want me to go to their school.

My sister suggested an idea which was talk about how I came from a poor family, and what makes me stronger now is that I'm working alot harder in school, trying to get a good education, I started working at a young age, and that's how I ended up at the program I am now. Is that a good idea? Or any other ideas?? Please reply ASAP! Please & thank you (:
What colleges want = unique, interesting, mature people. And well-written essays.

That last part is key because you only have 400ish words to paint a complete picture of yourself.

I had to write two essays for my college; one was about how I've been sick a LOT as a child, missed a shitload of school, but it taught me to be independent and diligent as I've had to study and make up assignments by myself; the other was about parental pressure (mom : "BE A DOCTORRR") and how I learned that listening to parents isn't always good if it stops you from realizing your dreams.

My friend's USC essay (she got in) was about how she was an introvert, but slowly became more social in high school.

I feel you have a pretty good topic; life for poor families can be especially hard and if your essay is good, the admissions committee will see that you are motivated, hard-working, etc.

I would stay away from VERY typical topics ("I got a dog and that made me responsible") unless you can add something very unique and interesting to it.

Q: Iv'e had my period but don't know how to tell my mum.Whenever i go to tell her i end up getting nervous and don't say anything. How can i tell her? please help!
You seriously just have to talk to her. It's not a big deal.

However, if you're REALLY afraid for some reason, and your mom is the one that does the laundry in the house, you can add a pair of bloody underwear to your usual laundry pile. Gross, yeah, but at least she'll find out on her own?

But honesty, you should just tell her. Dont' turn it into a big deal because it's NOT. You're not confessing to mass murder. You're not giving away news that will make you look like a freak of nature; all women get their period.

And keep in mind that your mom was in your shoes many many years ago. She knows how it feels to have to tell a parent about something like this.

Q: What is that piercing called when it's right above your lip off to the side (kinda where Marilyn Monroe had a beauty mark)?
It's called the Monroe.

Q: I want to try dyeing my hair different colors, and I want to see which one really suits me as quickly as possible. So when you have nonpermanent haircolor, how long does it last? Can you just wash it out or does it wear off more quickly than the other ones?

Thank you for all your help!

PS even if you don't know all the answers please just give me your experiences with hair coloring.
It depends on your hair and the dye.

From my experience, the lighter the hair color, the longer it stays and the better the color looks.

Also, if your hair is already dyed, you can't dye over it. The color won't show up well, if at all.

As for the dye, you should talk to whoever's working in the store. I always use semi- or demi-permanent dye, and it has rarely stayed in my hair as long as promised. Certain brands have stayed in two weeks, others, months.

If you REALLY want hair color to stay, use heat and be generous with the dye. Some people wrap their hair in aluminum afterwards; I blow dry it like a maniac (this isn't good for your hair, though).

If you just want to try out colors, I'd recommend the brand Manic Panic (this brand is only for non-natural colors, though). I've never used it myself, but I've heard it's really crappy and washes out quickly.

Fun facts:

I am a champion procrastinator.

My hair has been every color of the rainbow.

I like art. In a perfect world, I'd be an illustrator or graphic designer. But in this world, I'm probably going to end up an engineer or an architect.

I tend to be pretty blunt. If you don't like it, too bad.

I have more piercings than I can be bothered to keep track of. They're all on my ears.

Oscar Wilde is awesome.

Julian Beever is awesome.

Hans Zimmer is awesome.
