I am 15, turning 16 in about a month. Everywhere I go, people think I am SO much younger than I am! For example, I was getting my hair cut, and my hair cutter asked me how old I was, I told her, and then she said, "Oh really? I would have guessed like 13!"
It really bothers me...
Are there any tips that can make me look older?
I actually can relate to your situation. I have a sister who is 2 years younger & whenever we are (well, WERE) in public together, people would always assume my sister was the oldest. I know we don't want to look younger now, but I've learned to take it as a compliment. People in their 40's, 50's+ would kill to look younger. & when anyone assumes I am younger, I just remind myself that I'd rather look young than old. :) Back to your question: you could experiment with different hairstyles & makeup (but i don't advise you to overdo it.) Other than that, learn to love looking younger. It's not so bad! :)
hey. well, i'm 14/f. and this year i'm going to be going into high school. and i'm really scared about being around all of the older kids and stuff, but thats not what i'm most scared about. i'm scared about sex. this probably sounds really stupid to some ppl, but i don't care. i really want to wait until marraige, but there is so much pressure in high school, i don't want to do something i know i don't want to do. i mean, i don't even know if i'll have a boyfriend or anything, but if i do, i want him to be someone who won't pressure me. how can i have good judgement. please help. and any other good advice about high school will be much appreactiated. thanks a bunch!!!!
It's really sad to hear that so many kids your age are circled around sex all the time that you can't even go to school without hearing about it. First off, I am really glad you have your morals set & that you're choosing to wait till you're married. That's really good to hear. :) Yes, there is pressure, but it isn't too hard to deal with if you have your ways set. People will talk about it & you might hear about with your group of friends. You might feel like you're the only person who isn't having sex. & you might even date a guy who's only interested in it. But if you keep your head high & stick by your decision, it won't be that hard to overcome. You already seem to have good judgement, so all I can say is find someone who has the same morals as yourself. If you start dating a guy, let him know what you believe in, etc. If he's truly interested in you, he'll stick around. If he's not, then he'll move on (which he should because you don't want someone like that anyway.) Don't give in or be easily influenced or pressured. As long as you do those things, you should be okay. I promise. :)
Is every piece of clothing that is made out of only cotton going to shrink?
IS there any way to prevent this from happening, and does it matter if the water is hot or cold? I have a pair of shorts that's 100 % cotton, and I want to have minimal shrinking when I wash them, so what should I do?
Thanks
Some clothing has been shrunk before you purchase it. But if it hasn't been, then yes it'll most likely shrink during the first wash. You should wash whites in warm water & let it dry by air. Basically, my advice is to avoid putting anything in the dryer if you don't want it to shrink.

Latley I have been feeling like i have no use in the world. I feel like i have no talents like the actors and models and singers do. I think it might be depression, which my mother has, so it does run in the family, but i don't think it is so bad that i need medication. I'm just sad, all the time. I want to do something like model or act so i wont feel so useless, but i dont think i would ever get the oppertunity to. I dont cut and i never thought of killing myself so dont worry about that. My main questions are
1.Is this depression, or something else?
2.Should i see a doctor or something?
plz answer soon
thanks
It's very common for everyone to go through a stage where they are discouraged or don't feel like any use in this world - especially at your age. With today's media, it's even more of a problem for young teens. Society is completely surrounded with celebrities lives, that kids are so easily influenced to believe that celebrity lives are "normal." As a result, kids are so eager to want to grow up like them. Ten years ago when you asked kids what they wanted to be when they grew up & you'd get answers like: a teacher, a doctor, a fireman, a lawyer. Now, you ask kids the same qeustion & the most popular answers are: models, actresses or any type of big time celebrity. And of course, many of them are discouraged because their goals are set too high. I am not stating that it's impossible to become any of those professions, it's just not as realistic without true talent & hardwork. To get to your questions:
1.) If you are sad all the time & it affects with your daily life, then yes you are showing signs of depression. But that doesn't necessarily mean you are depressed.
2.) If this is affecting your daily life and/or you are worried about ANYTHING, then the wise decision would be to see your doctor. From what you have told me, I believe it's something normal we all go through. But on the other hand, it could be (or someday become something) serious. & I'd NEVER want to advise you that it's not something you should get checked out. In conclusion, I suggest seeing a doctor to be evaluated to be on the safe side.
In the meantime, realize that there are other professions out there that aren't "useless." No matter what you choose to do, you are providing a service to others or helping someone in someway. Professions such as teachers & doctors enlighten kids & help save lives. That's more worthy than someone who only provides entertainment to the the public. Set lower goals for yourself so you aren't easily discouraged when you can't meet big ones like - becoming famous. If you take baby steps towards your goal, you're more likely to reach them. & thus, you won't be disappointed.
Ok well me and my boyfriend have been going out for like a week...and like hes cheated on like all of his girlfriends and we've hung out once and like this morning he sent me an email saying like he thinks we should just be friends and stuff and because we never talk or hang out..but i think theres another reason because like i always call ( not like all the time butlike 2 times a day) but he just doesn't answer and i leave him voicemails but he never calls me back...so its his fault we don't talk...but what do u think? Could there be a diff. reason? Help me please
Yes, the reason could be that he's not mature & not boyfriend material. He doesn't sound like someone who's commited or cares about the person he's in a relationship with. For him to break up with you because he doesn't have any desire to hang out or talk [that requires him answering his phone], isn't YOUR fault. Not only is he a horrible boyfriend, he also doesn't seem to possess of the qualities of a good friend. No matter what his reasonings are, the point is: he doesn't have any desire to build a relationship with you. If this is how things are after the first week, can you imagine how bad they could have been after a month? Be glad you didn't get too involved with this guy. I actually wouldn't be too worried or put any effort into figuring out what the reason was. If he put in no effort, why should you? :)
I was wondering if i really is true that black guys have bigger penises?
No, it's a myth. It's just like saying all blondes are dumb. It doesn't apply to the whole population.
i wanna put a music player in my myspace but i dont know where to get one. i buy my songs from itunes so i would use songs from there .. pleasee help
I have one on my myspace page. Go to projectplaylist.com. Very easy to sign up, search songs & add to/edit your playlist. You don't need to purchase anything!
I know very little about computers.
Is it possible to have a laptop with a camera, microphone, and wireless internet? like .. a lap top i don't have to worry about not having internet service? its just always there?
Yes, it's possible to have all 3. But usually, they have to all be purchased seperately. To get wireless internet, you have to buy a wireless card. & be in an area with a connection nearby. In most cases, you won't get one because YOU need to pay for your internet connection. I know in my area it's $70 a month to have wireless internet. But only $50 for internet with modem (which means ONE computer needs to be hooked up to it. If it's hooked up to a laptop, you won't be able to move the laptop from that spot.) But if you have that computer hooked up to a modem & have a laptop you want wireless internet on, all your laptop needs is a wireless card & has to be within the connection range of that modem.
Ok well im going to be a sophomore this august and my dad says that if i get straight a's he will buy me a car. If i get a b he wont. But the problem is ive never gotten straight a's im always getting c's. I mean i guess i never really try that hard. but how can i get good grades like that?
- Take good notes: Highlight, underline, or circle the important things that are emphasized in class. Go over them for about 5-10 minutes every night.
- Ask questions: If you don't understand something, make sure you find out. Stay after class or go in early if you have to.
- Do your homework: Right when you get home, avoid turning on the TV or planning anything with your friends. Make it routine to go straight to a quiet & non-distracting place to do your homework before you do anything else.
- Study hard: If you have to spend 3 straight hours of studying, you aren't understanding your lessons & asking enough questions. You should already have most of the material down with very few to memorize or go over. I suggest about 30 minutes of going over your notes the night before the test & then refreshing your memory for about 15-20 minutes shortly before on the day of the test.
- Do any extra credit that is offered. Sometimes that alone can save you a whole letter grade.
- And last, but not least.. get plenty of sleep, eat healthy & make these things a routine. There might be some times where you may have to make a sacrafice - such as not hanging out with your friends for a night in order to finish an assignment. But look at it this way: You aren't only getting a car out of it, but you are also looking really good for colleges. Doesn't that feel great? :)
I want to be the type of girl that shops for designer stuff like Coach, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Channel, etc. I want to be able to do stuff like that but my parents aren't rich and im definitely not a spoiled brat. How can i do that... like i'm only 15 ill be 16 in feb. what kind of jobs can i get to be able to afford that?
You're only 15 & in school, so your options are limited as far as jobs. Until you turn 16, you can try grocery store, food places, small shops. But even when you turn 16, your options of a good paying job are still pretty slim. That doesn't mean you can't save. It'll just take a couple-few weeks before you save for ONE purse. In my opinion, I would be embarassed to be wearing the same LV or Coach purse everyone has. I'd rather save money & buy something cute that NO ONE has. But that's just me. I think everyone goes through this materialistic stage where everyone has to feel like they are rich to impress others. But hopefully, you'll grow out of soon enough to save yourself from spending hundreds of hardworking money on pointless items. Why not work hard & save money towards something like your education or a really nice car? I hate to say this, but everything is getting more & more expensive. I'm sure your education is more important than how you look.
I was wondering how old you have to be to work at a tanning salon?
Anyone know??
Some places will hire as young as 16+, but the higher statused ones will hire 18 or 21+. It all depends in the area of town & the status of the place you are trying to apply at. The best thing would be to call around & ask a variety of places.
In response to your poor feedback - of course most people who answer this are going to give you the same answer. I didn't "copy" an answer. The age range is usually the same age all over the United States. If you only wanted ONE answer, the wise thing would have been to ask ONE person. Not post this question in the pool where you will get several responses.
What, for you, is the most comfortable place to put your hands when your making out?
Around his neck. Or play with his hair. :)
Is only eating 300 caloroies a day considered anorexic?!
The real definition of anorexia is purposely starving yourself for whatever reason. Whether the 300 calories a day is intentional or not, it's still extremely unhealthy. 1,800 calories a day is what is considered healthy.
I have applications for different jobs and all of them ask for work experience, but the problem is I have none as this would be my first job. And I fear leaving them all blank would look bad, but I don't know what I could put- some ask for personal references instead but I don't know any that would actually sound appropriate.
any ideas?
What kind of places are you applying at? If they are jobs that REQUIRE work experience, you're right - it may not look good. But if it's a job in retail, food, or a place that says it's entry level - it's no biggie! Everyone has to start somewhere! Just put "N/A" (not applicable) in those spaces that you can't fill out. Instead, include any references (teachers, coaches, etc), volunteer work experience, special skills or anything that may contribute to why you would be good for the job. Let them know you're a hardworker & a fast learner. :)
is there any way to get birth control without a parent?
please don't judge me.. I don't have a close relationship with my father whatsoever and my mother passed away.
i'm 17 f.
Yes, go to Planned Parenthood. It's completely confidential, so you have nothing to worry about. By HIPAA law, it's illegal for them to give out any information to your parents (or anyone) without your permission.
I hope you all won't see this as a stupid qn.
When we're dirty dancing in a club or when the guy is grinding you, it's possible that he could precum, right? This precum will seep in thru your clothes and could possibly make its way thru ur vagina. I'm sorry if I sounded stupid but isn't that possible? I just wanna double check with u guys and hope to know more bout this.
Guys precum & precum can get you pregnant. But sperm CANNOT travel through 4 layers of clothing (assuming you are both wearing undergarments & bottoms) & climb up your vagina. You have nothing to worry about.
Heyy what is the best way to dramitcally change light brown hair to a sort of white/ ash blonde?
I have tried L'oreal Recital Preference twice in two of the lightest shades and it has only slightly lightened my hair, not exactly what it says on the box.
thankyoo xxxxx
Let's just say I went 3 years going through several brands & boxes in my younger days. I only found one that was somewhat decent & that was Herbal Essences. If you can afford it, I'd save a little bit of money & go to a professional. If that's really not an option, then that's the box to go with.
if you played spin the bottle at a party while your bf/gf was somewhere else and you kissed/made out with someone of the opposite gender in the game, would it be considered cheating on your bf/gf?
Definitely. That's completely trashy. & yes, you should definitely tell them/her if it happened.
I'm 14 and i've never had a boyfriend. I don't really care and I don't obsess over it or anything but if I do ever get one any time in highschool I wouldn't want to do stuff like being fingered or sex or blow jobs and all that...
is that weird? I just don't think i'd feel comfortable doing any of that. I wouldn't have a problem with kissing though..
I'm scared i'll never get a boyfriend just because I don't want to do any of that stuff.
Sweetie, you're only 14 & of course it's not weird to feel that way. These days, kids are exposed to these things younger & younger & it's really sad. When I was 14 (which was only 5 years ago), those kinds of pressures weren't very common, not to mention discussed that often. It seems like there's more & more pressure to get boyfriends & become sexually active at such a young age. My advice? Don't worry about a boyfriend for a few more years. You aren't missing out on anything great. Most guys your age aren't mature enough to carry on a real relationship without the sexual part of it. When you're older, it'll be somewhat easier to find someone on the same level as you are. Focus on school & worry about boys later. You'll be happy your decision later, I promise you.
what is the whole 411 on the national honors society and the national spanish honors society
Well to be apart of NHS, you have to make good grades (generally all A's or A's & B's.). To remain a member, you have to keep up with your grades, attend meetings & put in so many volunteer/community work hours within a period of time. Those were the requirements when I was in NHS, but your school/state may be different & have different requirements. Best thing to do is speak to the person in charge of NHS @ your school.
