How can I look older?

Question Posted Sunday July 1 2007, 11:20 am

I am 15, turning 16 in about a month. Everywhere I go, people think I am SO much younger than I am! For example, I was getting my hair cut, and my hair cutter asked me how old I was, I told her, and then she said, "Oh really? I would have guessed like 13!"

It really bothers me...

Are there any tips that can make me look older?

I actually can relate to your situation. I have a sister who is 2 years younger & whenever we are (well, WERE) in public together, people would always assume my sister was the oldest. I know we don't want to look younger now, but I've learned to take it as a compliment. People in their 40's, 50's+ would kill to look younger. & when anyone assumes I am younger, I just remind myself that I'd rather look young than old. :) Back to your question: you could experiment with different hairstyles & makeup (but i don't advise you to overdo it.) Other than that, learn to love looking younger. It's not so bad! :)

Well sometimes when people get shor haircuts it makes them look older and more sophisticated. Like these:

Also, make-up should give you a more grown-up look and feel, but don;'t over do it because then it will look as if you're playing dress-up-creating an even more youthful appearance. Eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, and lipgloss should be enough. You could also use some foundation for a more put-together look and it will make your face look even-toned.

I hope I helped!

In most cases, I can't relate but there was one particular one I think would make you laugh. Not out loud laughing, but you know :)

So I was walking through the store one day and this old man comes up to me and says "Do you think an 8 year old would like this? I wanted to have somebody else's opinion and you looked around that age." And he held up a LITE-BRITE box thing.

And I'm just like, "I'm not 8... but yeah." I'm 13! I think his eye-sight was a little off.

Do you wear make-up? If not, start wearing some. Eye-liner, mascara, lip gloss, lip stick, eye-shadow, bare minerals etc. are wonderful things! I don't mean that sarcastically either, I don't have a bad attitude :)

Most people look older with their hair up. If you don't have bangs, take a couple sets of strands of hair on each side of your head and comb through them, then place them on top of your head with a clip. Then take what hair you didn't use, and put it in a messy bun. It should look like this when you're done.

Except turn the ponytail into a messy bun, but only if you want to :]
Much Luck.

makeup (eyeliner, mascara)
darker clothes sometimes works (i.e. black shirt)
simple plain colors
